2016 NBA Finals

A few things have to happen for this series to be competitive. LeBron has to be best player on the floor first and foremost. I know he doesn't like it but he needs to look to score 40 every night. When he did that last year, they were up 2-1 on Golden State. Also, JR Smith needs to shoot. He's the starting SG for Cleveland and in 2 games he's taken something like only 8 shots. That's ridiculous. He either needs to shoot or he needs to be benched. Start Dellavedova at PG for defense and move Irving to the 2 for pure offense. Also, Tristan Thompson needs to play more. He's a great rebounder and defender. Last, Channing Frye needs to get better looks.

If Golden State wins this next game; it's all over.

Then last year happened and now every single person is a Curry fan and a Warriors fan. I know as people get better they become more liked and people have every right to like who they want, but it's just ridiculous the love he gets now and it's all because he can pop a 3. Well atleast that is all people actually notice because I'm not gonna sit here and say he isn't the best dribbler in the NBA. Now those people are calling him the greatest ever. Like piss off. I love Draymond Green but he just gets away with too much. Actually I like almost every player on the GS squad but I can't stand Curry anymore.

Ah man, so you hate Curry because a bunch of people started becoming his fans? That's kind of weak. That's what greatness does though, it turns love into hate for some reason, and most of the time the player doesn't even have to do anything to get hated. Case in point right here. I've never heard (intelligent) fans call Curry the greatest ever. I've heard that he's one of the best shooters of all time, and if he keeps his shooting numbers up over the next decade or so, that will become a reality.

Stuff like this happens all the time though. It happened with Jordan, Kobe, Lebron, etc. Eventually Curry will get the respect he deserves... probably when he's retired...

If not everyone jumped on GS's dick out of nowhere (like Miamis big 3) then I wouldn't have a problem.

I don't get this either. What is this based off of exactly? Do you live in California? I just don't get how people scale things like this. Of course a team is going to get more popular when they're winning, but who's everyone? Most of the shit I see on social media, people are hating heavily on GS.

I don't have a problem with Golden State. I've been a fan of Curry since he was in college and I really started liking Golden State when Mark Jackson became their head coach. That's when they went from losing to winning. He basically gift wrapped a championship for Steve Kerr and now everybody is praising Kerr's coaching abilities. That's what I have a problem with. Before Mark Jackson was fired, he took Golden State from a losing fringe playoff team to a 50+ win perennial playoff team. He shouldn't have been fired.

Anyways, I don't like LeBron James at all because I think he's too full of himself. I haven't liked him since he came into the league wearing number 23. That number should be retired for every team. Having said all of that though, I actually want him to win this series because I'm tired of hearing about his legacy and bringing a championship to Cleveland. I hope he wins and goes to finish up his career elsewhere. The L.A. Clippers are in desperate need of a SF and he and CP3 are like brothers. Perfect fit if you ask me.

Well it looks like Love is out. I actually think this will help Cleveland more than hurt them. Throwing Mozgov down low should help slow down the likes of Green and make life a little more difficult in the paint for Golden State. If he can have a few big showing like he did last years finals then Cleveland should be able to take at least 1 of these games.

Hmm. Well yes and no. I also hate the fact Curry takes 11 threes a game and no one has a problem with it. I know the dude is nothing like we have seen but since when is it ever okay to take half the 3s he does and he praised for them? I know he is the goat shooter but seriously that little whatever thing he did to Paul after like breaking his ankles, running away from another dude and then stepping back for a 3 is the worst shot taken I have ever seen and yet because it's curry and it went in it is accepted. Players like Nick Young and Jr Smith have taken shots like Curry, heck even Kobe Bryant, and still get ridiculed for it. I know they are bad shots so they deserved to get some but I have never heard anyone say that Curry takes bad shots.

But also everyone yelling Curry is the greatest is annoying to. Even NBA did it by giving him the first ever unanimous MVP. They said there is no other season in history better than what Curry did this year. Which I think is just total wank. Dude takes 900 3s in a season so of course he is going to break that 3pt record, but apart from that what else did he do to help his team? If Thompson wasn't on the Warriors then Curry wouldn't of broken the record. So when you say intelligent fans don't consider Curry the greatest I think thank fuck but then realized the NBA is even saying it.

I don't hate Curry as a person. He is a awesome human being, but I cannot stand Curry the basketball player.

I don't see that as weak at all. I don't have to like every player I watch. Curry doesn't fit the style I like and he is being shoved down my throat. It's a recipe that just doesn't work. Can I call him the Riman Reigns of the NBA, except ironically I don't have a problem with Reigns.

Difference with Curry and Thompson is that Thompson doesn't get shoved down my throat (but he also plays fantastic D so I gotta give my love to him just for that) and that is why I don't have a problem with it.

Curry gets his respect though by everyone. I actually haven't seen people dislike Curry ever. I also respect what Curry has done. It's cool as shit, but I'm not going to sit here and say he is anywhere close to being in the greatest point guard conversation. Not even in today's game as I would 100%, not because I dislike Curry but because I rate these guys better, would take Paul/ Westbrook before him. I might even take Lillard before Curry because they are basically the same player, no d all 3.

Nah I live in Australia so the NBA intelligence around here is slim to none. It is literally whatever the trending thing is people will jump on the bandwagon. It was Miami Heat crazy around here for a few here's, then Cavs because James went back and now Warriors because of Curry. So literally 95% of people, even news stations and sport shows (actually Australia's biggest sport Australian Football League, the commentators were even comparing someone's kick to currys shot last week ffs) are all Warriors addicted.

So to see someone from Australia dislike Curry is very rare, if not impossible.

So all in all until the world calms it's farm on Curry and the Warriors then, I will be hoping they lose and I won't be throwing my love to them.

Anyways Cavs to win tonight.

I don't know if someone said it here but I read Curry is getting surgery in the off season. It's obvious that he isn't close to being 100%, so I do tip my hat off for him pushing like a tough SOB.

Apparently because I'm not a fan of LeBron and I find him egocentric, I'm stupid.......

Anyways, I loved Cleveland's response in game 3. They looked like a completely different team and ONCE AGAIN THEY SHUT THE SPLASH BROTHERS DOWN!! This time, though, they were more active all around and it was wonderful to watch. JR Smith finally showed up, LeBron showed why he's been to 6 straight finals, but it was Irving that set the tone for the team early on offense. Also, let's not forget Tristan Thompson was outstanding on defense and rebounding. Hopefully now the Cavs realise that, not only can they compete, but they can beat Golden State. I hope this series goes 7 games, but not only that, I hope the Cavs win because even though I'm not a fan of Lebron, I don't want to see the greatest player of the past decade lose another finals. If he does, that's what he'll be remembered for and honestly, that's not fair to him.

All I got to say is thanks Cleveland for making this a series and making me richer in the process. You're good people, never change.

That's the team I was waiting for in the finals. I still think Golden States got this but if Cleveland can play like they did tonight and play defense against the entire team instead of 2 guys like they did tonight they might be able to make this happen.

It makes you wonder, since Cleveland won, if they'll keep the same strategy when Love comes back and maybe use him as a scorer off the bench. He's a max player though, so it's hard for coaches to do these kinds of things. Politics runs everything, ya know?

Yeah...most of this still comes off as "No one hates Curry, so it's on me to do so." If it makes you fee any better, the Internet in general is good at this as well, so you're not alone.

Quick post:

Really pleased with the win last night, hoping that this recaptures the momentum for the Cavs. It definitely must be mentally reassuring for them to know they can beat on the Warriors just as hard as the Warriors beat on them.

It's good to see J.R. Smith get his shot back, shooting 50% from three and 7-13 on the floor in general.

Would be nice to see a more evenly distributed contribution from the Cavs, but what can you when only two of your bench players play more than 8 minutes a piece. Still, between Shumpert's 17 and Frye's 12, you want to see more than 3 points put up between the two of them. Shit, Frye put up a big old goose egg on the stat line, at least Shumpert grabbed some boards.

I'm a little concerned about how much time the Cavs starters had to play to win this game. Lebron played 40 minutes this game, which is 10 more than Curry or Thompson and 5 more than Green. The dude is a machine, that's been established, but does he have enough gas in his tank to do that for the rest of the series?

In regards to the general Curry discussion...

I have to actively remind myself that I don't hate Curry and he absolutely is a great player that is deserving of almost all the praise he gets. Almost all of it. I have to do this because I am a big Lebron James fan and I feel like Curry's supporters are largely composed of Lebron haters that are anxiously waiting to take the crown off of Lebron's head and put it on Curry's. As far as I'm concerned, it's not nearly time for that yet. So my gut reaction is to belittle Curry's accomplishment's and play style, despite the fact he doesn't deserve it.

I will say, however, that I'm with Khalifa on the amount of 3's Curry takes. He's a great three point shooter, but not as great as people make him out to be, and he's certainly not a shoo-in for the greatest 3 point shooter of all time (though he absolutely deserves to be a big part of the conversation). I don't have the stat in front of me, but he took at least a couple hundred more 3 point attempts this season than anyone ever has (including himself). That's not good offense, and while he certainly has other tools at his disposal other than his 3 point shot, that's clearly his trademark, and I don't think that's a great place to hang your hat. As the Cavs have been proving this series, it's not that hard to limit that.

I also don't think Curry was anywhere near deserving of the unanimous MVP vote this year. Lebron, Leonard, and Westbrook absolutely deserved some number one votes.

I actually don't care if it comes off as that because that's partly just what it is. Someone has to be realistic and if it means I wear the hater title then I'm first in line.

It makes you wonder, since Cleveland won, if they'll keep the same strategy when Love comes back and maybe use him as a scorer off the bench. He's a max player though, so it's hard for coaches to do these kinds of things. Politics runs everything, ya know?

Yeah I hear ya but I know I'd much rather have Jefferson or Mozgov starting for no other reason they can slow down the paint for Golden State. Last night Cleveland's played great defense across the board and that's just something Love isn't going to give that team and quite frankly I feel that's what Cleveland needs in order to win.

The Cavaliers are back! Lebron goes 32-11-6. Curry had another AWFUL night - 2 pts in the first half, -24 for the game. Not saying CLE will win, but we do have a series.

If I'm the coach of Cleveland, Love is coming off the bench for the rest of the series because honestly, Cleveland needs a scoring punch off the bench. Golden States bench has been having its way when they're on the floor and that's the reason Cleveland's starters have to play so much.

Yea, Love's coming off my bench.

Home advantage is everything in these playoffs. I would be surprised if this series didn't go 7 with GS taking it at home.

Excuses...

Something I'm sure you've made for whoever your team is countless times in the past. Quit being a dick. Injured or not, GS is likely to beat Cleveland. If you want to be that "Excuses..." guy, think about it that way. You couldn't even beat a team with their star player injured, assuming he is.

What if Lebron scored 2 points in a half in the NBA Finals? There would be an uproar. An outrage. People would crap on him to no end.

Steph Curry does it and he gets a pass. Everyone claims he's injured. It seems like a double standard to me.

I'm sure people would be wondering what the hell is wrong. And it would definitely turn out justified (the poorer play, not the criticism) if they later found out James was playing injured, dumbass.

Also, and I can't stress this one enough, Steph Curry didn't crown himself "King" or "The Chosen One" before he ever won a damn thing. You want to call yourself king? You have to accept whatever criticism comes your way when you can't win. It's the epitome of arrogant ******** and a driving factor why a lot of people don't like him.

If anyone still holds this stuff against him, they're flat out ******ed. Just think of all the dumb shit you said when you were 17 or 18 years old.

As usual, people are freaking out over a single game.

Curry was one of if not the best player in the league for the last two regular seasons. The team playing this way has won them an NBA title and until last night they were up 2-0 in another NBA Finals despite Curry not playing great in the first two games. The Warriors got blown out last night by a Cavs team that was ready to play some ball. I'm sure Curry is to blame for all of the players' offensive and defensive woes, plus Thompson being injured.

Yeah Curry had a bad night last night but if he has even an average game where the Warriors go up 3-1 on Friday, all of this goes away because as usual, everyone is so quick to blame one person for a loss instead of a team just having a bad night and being outplayed. Curry will be fine and so will the Warriors.

What LeBron did last night was amazing since it has only been a couple weeks since he took that vicious elbow that threw him almost ten feet to the ground.
