2012 Debater's League: Smack Talk and General Discussion Thread

Well my time in the debate is over. Its currently 13-2.

Congratulations Rattlesnake, I'm glad I got this far.

But how could you lose so convincingly? Even DirtyJose thought you should be the winner and that my arguments were ******ed. Also, as you said, my arguments were all rather meh.

But, on a serious note, I thought you did somewhat better here than in your previous two rounds, though it did not matter much in the end.

You're kind of a prick, huh?

I can resume judging in the next round, D-Man.

Oh look, you're funny. Not.

Gotta love Nate.

It's none of my business to be a prick but you really must think twice before you talk smack. Simply because if you can't back up your trash talk with your performance, you should expect some mocking to come your way.

Hell, it has happened to me too and here I did it to Scumm.

Whoever faces you next, I hope they wipe the fucking floor with you.

I mean, not that I'm disagreeing here, but when did I ever call your argument "******ed"?

I don't like to go into criticisms and such of other people's debates before they are finished, so I'll just start and end with this:

In your latest reply, you used the term "******ed".

Oh really, then what are you saying here? You may think you are being subtle but you really aren't.

Either way, it shows that you really cannot be called upon to give judgement on a guy you do not like. You were wrong by a country mile here. Thank God, you are not a judge in this thing.

This arguement is just ******ed man

You think you're on to something sly here, but really REALLY aren't. I started and ended with pointing out that you actually used the term "******ed" in a debate. I didn't say anything about finding that rather childish, as if you were actually bickering about this in front of someone instead of having a debate. Well, I didn't say anything about that then.

Anyway, just wanted to clear that up. I have no problems with taking credit for things I've actually said or whatever, but I will not have my good name sullied over false accusations based no part from my own doing but instead in the ineptitude of the accuser.

Did I "judge" the rounds? Did I post about scoring the debates like a judge? Did I do anything other than point out four days who I thought would be able to win their rounds (very different from judging)? I think, like above, this is another one of those "you read far too much into shit for you own good" moments you have. It's alright. I understand.

So are you telling me to actually believe that you thought I would lose over the use of a single word?

Would you be willing to share the basis of your thought with us?

This was from the ask a question thread. It does kinda imply that you could post again without waiting for a response. From this- as long as the first poster chosen made the opening statement, it kinda means you could post whenever. Free for all rules apply.

Good point.

But I also advised everyone to read past debates in order to learn the structure.

Yeah, I think he's got a point. If that's the ruling you're going on with Snakey, it should apply to Killjoy as well.

For D-Man, in case he hadn't noticed: http://forums.wrestlezone.com/showpost.php?p=3850276&postcount=5

Rohan still hadn't made his opener before KJ got this up.

That post has been deleted and will not count. However, judging by the current scorings, it doesn't look like it made much of a difference.

You're kind of a prick, huh?

I assumed you'd resume in this round. Does that mean you won't?

Yeah... less work for Nate (if he's judging this round.) Hopefully, he can let us all know ASAP so the next round can get moving.

Once all judging is complete, I will try and post the next round near immediately. This has lagged a bit, as of late, and we need to get back on track. Plus, I'm going to slim down total debate time this week since there are less matchups and we're getting down to the wire.

If judging finishes tonight, new debates will be up either tonight or tomorrow and will last until Friday morning. Then, we'll give until Saturday night for judging and post the following round Sunday.

Nice to see things moving along quickly. Deaner's a great opponent to go up against.

Sad to see nightmare depart, though. I thought he was excellent in all three rounds but in the last two, he got the side which was harder to debate from. Still, he did rather well. Luck of the draw did not go his way, I guess.

Steve vs Mitch seems to be headed towards an exciting finish. Will be real sad to see either man depart here too as both are very good.

I want Mitch and Habs to fight over me so bad.

Don't forget Mr. Steve, he's very much still in the picture as well.

Hopefully, for which ever one of us advances that far, you'll show up for your debate this time ;)

Congrats to Deaner. He was a pretty good challenge. Last 2 debates killed me with having to argue those particular points. Deaner deserves to move on and might win this thing.

With that being said..... I HATE THE DESIGN OF THAT DAMN BELT. It was difficult to find reasons why it shouldnt change when I agree that a change is needed so badly.

In the end I tried to convince even myself, but alas it was not meant to be. That belt needs a change. I think since Vince failed to change it when Punk walked out (the best opportunity so far...), he is waiting for a big moment. Possibly WM30 or even sooner if Rock somehow wins the belt.

Good luck to all remaining participants. I had a blast. Thanks to the judges for spending their free time helping; thanks to D-Man for giving me a chance to be part of the tournament.

Until next year... Stay classy San Diego.

Yeah, you better hope it's not me vs. you. I will burn your house down, piss on the ashes and put your head upon my mantle. You better make peace with your un-sliced taint, for I will get to work on it.

Promptly. In the words of Stormtrooper:

prompt (prmpt)
adj. prompt·er, prompt·est
1. Being on time; punctual.
2. Carried out or performed without delay: a prompt reply.

Ex: 1. Mr. Steve burnt down Rohan's house in a prompt manner.
2. Mr. Steve was very prompt when handing a biblical whoop-ass on Rohan.

I'll ask here as well, where the aspiring nerds in desperate need of external validation are likely to see:

What's the best debate from the 2012 league?

Nightmare I gotta say considering the side you debated I would say you did a damn fine job. I sure hope you end up in next years league, you did stellar in all 3 of your debates.
