2012 Debater's League: Smack Talk and General Discussion Thread

Nice. So this thing is finally starting up. If I could, however, make one request it would be to start my debate a bit before 2 PM EST because at that time it'll be 2 AM in my time zone at which time I am soundly sleeping. So, I would not get to see my topic until say 6-7 hours after it has been posted. If you start the debate a bit earlier, at least I'll get a chance to sleep over the topic.

Not a huge hindrance but I would be glad if you helped me out here.

First off, I'm not basing the tournament around your schedule. Secondly, I announced the debates' time frames weeks ago, so this should be no surprise.

Lastly, that's why I'm giving all first-round debates a four day deadline. It gives you all one day for every required post, plus a day (if you need that long to complete everything.)

There is really no way to accommodate for all time zones. Regardless of where you live, everyone has equal time for debating. So I don't see why this is such an issue.

You could make a post when he is soundly asleep. You'll lose punctuality if you can't make your post within 24 hours, or that's how people would win/lose by default. FalKon did the league in '09. He lives in Australia and was able to do this. I think you can manage.

Also, no "better time zone" arguments. It would be a bullshit copout if you happen to not get the point.

If you're more worried about punctuation than persuasion, you don't deserve to win.
