2011-12 NHL Playoffs LD

Well the Kings need to finish this off on Wednesday. Nothing would be sweeter than winning the Cup on home ice. The crowd was bananas last night.

I can't help but wonder, how many people there last night had never seen a hockey game before?

Keep in mind that like IDR said, LA has never been a big deal when it comes to hockey, especially when you share a venue with the Lakers. Its also true that a lot of folks are on the bandwagon. I've been fortunate to attend one Kings game back in '08 against the Sharks. They missed the playoffs that year, but the fans were into it regardless of the record. There are a lot of die hards in LA, and the tend to sell out regardless of who they're playing or their records. Case in point.

Through the playoffs this year, not counting the finals, the Kings had the lowest ratings in their home market of all 16 playoff teams. Though it was said that most people feel teh fact that the Lakers & Clipper were both in the NBA playoffs kinda overshadow the Kings a bit, & that was partially to blame.

No more or less than were in Jersey, I'd bet.

Both markets are incredibly poor, though both have very hardcore fan bases among the fans that actually do show up, even when the team isn't winning.

The main difference here is that L.A. is more dense and has the larger potential among the two to actually break out of that "small market" moniker.

Zach Parise is likely to play his last game as a New Jersey Devil tonight.

My goal list is lookin' good!

1. Devils' get swept and lose the Stanley Cup Final
2. Devils' lose Martin Brodeur to retirement
3. Devils lose Zach Parise to free agency

Its time. Let's get this done now fellas. Time to send the devils packin'. GO KINGS, GO!!!!

0-0 after two. AWESOME!

I guess I should have clarified...

That demand for a goal was for the Kings, not the Devils.

That'll teach me not to be specific.

Devils played their hearts out. Deserved the win. Kings failed to close. They had opportunity after opportunity and failed at nearly every turn.

Oh well. Win it in 5.

Delay of the inevitable. Devils are facing a 96% death rate here. Highly doubt they've got it in them to win three of the next four.
