2011-12 NHL Playoffs LD

MORE OVERTIME!!!!

I swear this post season is gonna set a record for most OT games if this keep up.

God I hope the Devils win this!

Hey IDR, fellow Ranger fan, I need to ask you a question.

Flyers or Devils? I hate them both equally. I think the Rangers can beat both. Who should I prefer to win? Or should I just with the series goes 7 with all games going into 5 OT?

Oh yeah, and the Devils/Flyers are tied at 3 with 2:30 to go in regulation

If given the choice? Flyers, for two reasons:

1. We fuckin' own them. 6-0 in the regular season and they were never once a threat to win a single game, even at the end of the season when they were just looking to not leave the series winless.

2. Bryzgalov is a fuckin' sieve. The Flyers' offense is what's been winning them games, and what won them their first-round match-up with the Penguins (it certainly wasn't defense or goaltending), and we have one of the best defenses in the league. With our D shutting their O down, and our O getting behind their shit-for-D, I smell a series win and provided we smash the Capitals (which I'm VERY confident we will), I smell Stanley Cup Finals presence.

This is what I was thinking. I would probably want the Devils to win back when I was living in PA (and around Flyer fans). Back in New York now, so I guess it's Flyers for me.

I really don't care who wins though.

Caps keep playing like this and it'll be 1-0 Rangers in no time.

Time to pick up the hitting, since they seem to want to give up the puck in light of not having to take the hit.

Rangers are still outplaying them. They had two bad bounces. Bad play by Bickel lead to a 3-on-2 and a really bad play by Hank on the puck (status quo there, he blows at handling the puck) gave Chimera the 2nd.

You won't have too much trouble convincing me that the Capitals can be badly outplayed, but end up winning anyway :(

Sorry about the loss, IDR. Still a lot more hockey to be played though. I'm still thinking the Blues is coming at the Kings with a vengeance for Game 3.

Oh for sure, man. I'm really not that worried about this series. The Rangers outplayed the Capitals for 95% of the game. They lost because they made two incredibly stupid mistakes. Bickel played the puck to center ice on a forced play from the blue line trying to maintain offensive pressure, that resulted in a turnover and an odd-man rush, when he should have chipped it down the boards safely to get it deep, and Lundqvist played the puck under pressure (something he is MISERABLE at), and ultimately turned it over and had to mad dash scramble to get back to the net and didn't do so in time to actually stop the ensuing shot.

Well, those and a PP goal scored by Ovie where Bäckström was clearly picking/interfering with Boyle off the face-off, but apparently officials never get anything wrong, and penalties called in games are always warranted and never, ever, influenced by anything other than the unbiased, objective opinion of the man with the whistle, eh?

Please tell me you're not one of those people!

Please tell me you're not one of those people that think refs never make bad calls or worse — one of those people that don't actually watch the game others complain about the officiating from, only to assume they are just homers who are whining about not winning the game?

Hey my homie always rides the refs in the NBA, and I've seen firsthand blow calls in hockey. When it affects the momentum of the game, I'd call them out on it.

The thing is, IDR, is that the officiating has been less than stellar throughout the entire playoffs. It's certainly not a problem unique to the Rangers, or specific to last night's game. I found myself screaming at the television on multiple occasions during the Bruins series. For me, this was definitely part of the reason why the better team lost.

I completely agree. There have been at least a dozen games I've watched where poor officiating has essentially decided a game or series.

Officiating at it again. Hendricks interferes with Callahan, blatantly, in open ice. Cally retaliates... gets the only penalty.
