Yes it matters where the match takes place, its in Japan, under Joshi rules (not WWE's) Trish has never wrestled a joshi match before
Yes it matters how the Japanese crowd views pro wrestling.... because its totally different form what the crowd's in the WWE expect. The Joshi crowds won't give a shit about how good Trish looks, or how good she is on the stick, or how well she can sell, or match psychology or any of that crap. The Joshi crowds only expect to see top notch wrestling skill, which Trish doesn't have. Trish has mediocre wrestling skills at best.

Someone needs to watch some of Mariko Yoshida's matches. I think the odds are better of Me knocking out Mike Tyson in his prime with a lucky punch than Trish even getting close to KOing Mariko.
What does how the crowd view Trish have ANYTHING to do with the match?

Mariko owns this one heavily. Trish really isn't that talented. She's talented when you compare her to OTHER WWE Divas, and that's kind of like kissing the redneck girl with the most teeth.
Sorry, I will not be boarding the Bitter Train with Slyfox. I know he's still crying over Hogan's loss, but in the end Triple H didn't win the tournament anyway. Undertaker did.
I don't think Mariko will make it all the way to the end, I have a few favorites picked out to win it before its over, but Trish? It would take a complete absence of all knowledge of wrestling beyond WWE for her to win this tournament.
Oh, and as for Kurt Angle, I'll vote a bean bag chair over Kurt Angle, just out of sheer spite.

I'd give you the 15 paragraph rant, but its off topic and inappropriate to this thread.
Having just reviewed another Mariko match though, I am even more inclined to vote against Trish. This blonde is screwed.
So far the only mildly impressive thing ion Trish's entire arsenal is her matrix backwards bend to avoid strikes, and Mariko could easily crush her with technical wrestling alone. I could easily see the Stratusfaction reversed into a particularly nasty throat hold.
How do you know Trish isn't a very good in ring talent, WWE doesn't let the Diva's show there whole arsenal in the WWE, you have to be going against other good wrestling diva's to show your talent. There are some moves you cant do to diva's that dont know what they are doing. I am not saying Trish is better than Yoshida because she is not, but I could understand why people would vote for Trish. She is more popular over here because of the WWE and is extremely hot, which has to count for something.

Depends. If this is a vote for which woman's breasts look the most ultra hot when they are all gleaming and sweaty and bulging, then yes... Trish wins in epic fashion. EPICALLY.
If its not, then my vote stands.
I love how everyone is voting for a woman they had never heard of, simply because Echelon makes a thread using the "she's Japanese, so she's better" tactic. That and promises of free rep.

And your taking the "I'm too damn lazy to watch a 15 match even though the matches are provided for me, even though all I have to do is click and view, so I'm just going to vote for the more popular choice" approach to this match. Because If I knew for a fact that people would actually do the research on people they didn't know (especially when I'm providing it for them) instead of being biased and voting for the more popular choice, I wouldn't have to promote anything.
I could watch the matches. And I'm sure I could completely trash parts of her match. Why? Because I want to. Would it make you feel better for me to go through 15 minutes of her match, noting all the problem areas of the match? It would be boring for me.
I'll instead go with whom I've seen, and whom I know is good. And that's Trish Stratus.

But you said yourself that you don't know much about joshi matches or the culture of the Japanese fans when it comes to pro wrestling, so by your standards you may think a Mariko Yoshida match may not be that good, but by Japanese standards and the fans of that region, her match may be pure gold.
