***THIS IS IMPORTANT FOR ALL THE TRISH MARKS LOOKING TO VOTE TRISH OVER MARIKO YOSHIDA WITHOUT TAKING A LOOK AT THE COLD, HARD FACTS OF THIS MATCH.***

While Trish is a popular name in wrestling and did have a prosperous career with the WWE, unfortunately for her, Trish has been placed in the AJW Region (the only Japaneses region of this tournament) That mean ALL the Matches that take place in this region will be done....

1.) In Japan

2.) Under Japanese Joshi style rules

3,) Will have a joshi crowd that won't give a shit about women trying to "entertain" them, but only about their ability to wrestle

And even more unfortunate for Trish, she has her first round match up against Mariko Yoshida, who is arguably the best women's technical wrestler of the past several decade whose ever gotten into the ring anywhere in the world, but IS ALSO EXTREMELY OVER IN JAPAN with the Joshi crowds

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE take into consideration that the Mariko Yoshida vs Trish Stratus Match will take place

1.) In Japan

2.) Under Joshi Rules

3.) In Mariko Yoshida's Hometown, and home promotion no less

4.) With a joshi crowd that that doesn't want to be "entertained" by Trish

The style of Wrestling that Trish did while in the WWE was completely different from the style of wrestling in Japan. And since Trish has never wrestled in a Joshi match with Joshi style rules in front of a Joshi style crowd, that automatically puts the match into Mariko Yoshida's favor. And since the match will also be in Mariko Yoshida's hometown, that puts the match even more in Mariko Yoshida's advantage. Trish has been placed in a match in an enviroment she doesn't know, in a style she doesn't know. Trish is Outmatched and will be Out wrestled by Mariko Yoshida. There is no feasible way for Trish to win this match based on the stipulations of the match.

To everyone voting in this match, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, take these facts into consideration before you vote. Please don't vote Trish over based on Popularity, because the popularity she amassed with the WWE won't help her against the Japanses Joshi crowds. The Japanese like to view Pro Wrestling as a sport, and thus they threat it like one. The better raw in ring talent you have, the better off you are wrestling in Japan, and since Trish had mediocre in ring talent at best, I just don't see how she could win this match based on the stipulations.

For those of you that have never seen a Japanese Joshi style match, are some Mariko Yoshida matches. The Clips are short, they won't take that long to watch.

I figure if most of you have enough time to devote to a wrestling forum (or more) then you have enough time to view a 10 minute match.

Your going to have to keep pushing this hard or else Trish is going to get the win. Most people will just vote based on the name they know, they know Trish so she will get votes, hopefully your campeigning will stop this from happening, it should be a really tight contest (votes wise).

Mariko Yoshida should get the win easy.....let me re-write that. Mariko Yoshida should get the win EASY! If you want us to go off of IN RING TALENT, there is no contest. But, people will go off of the name for sure, and it's a shame that trish is more than likely going to win this match. I sorry dude, Trish has a name in WWE and America, and I believe most of the Japan wrestlers arwe going to lose because they are not...... while not from WWE. What a shame. We will probably see a Lita/Trish final.

What is the criteria for winning though? Because if it's like the original WZ tourny, one could easily make the argument that Trish is the better wrestler because she's a bigger draw. And if that argument is the reason why Hogan, Warrior, and Andre are considered "great" wrestlers, then Trish would easily take this.

But its in MAriko's hometown and Promotion which gives her the advantage of being cheered for, especially when Trish has never actually competed in a joshi match before. ARSION would have never jobbed their #1 wrestler to someone like Trish Stratus, even despite her popualrity. It would make them look bad. The same reason the WWE probably wouldn't job Trish to Mariko if MAriko were to have come to the WWE to compete against her. Vince would have found a way to have watered down Mariko enough to make Trish look like an equivalent.

What is the criteria for winning though?

If you look at the original posting for the rules of this tournament it states that actual in-ring skills should be the priority for voting in all regions.

As for Trish being a better draw, I've never known the Japanese joshi fans to be particularly interested in divas and diva-style performers. This match is in Japan and in Japan Yoshida has been a mainstay and sometimes top tier wrestler for twenty years in addition to running her own promotion. Trish is a bigger star worldwide than Yoshida, but if we agree that ring skills take priority and take into account Yoshida's regional popularity I think that make's Yoshida a clear winner.

I was referring more to their worldwide draw, not specifically if they could draw in Japan. I'm actually agreeing with you that Trish should lose this match, and I am voting for Mariko, but I'm also warning you that if there is an argument to be made for who wins this based on worldwide drawing ability and success in the field of professional wrestling, then there will be people here arguing why Trish takes this. And I would agree with them.

However, I'm voting based on their in-ring skills as well. Take this as a warning of Slyfox debates to come during this tournament.

Trish was the bigger draw in America, but I don't know about Japan, as Trish never wrestled in Japan. I'm sure that Trish probably has her share of Fans in Japan amassed form WWE. If a Trish vs Mariko match did happen (in happened in Japan, and In ARSION nonetheless) I doubt that the Japanese fans would support Trish over Mariko in that scenario.

I don't see how having more fans as a whole would have anything to do with determining a winner.

I'm not saying they would. Again, you're talking about specifics. I'm not talking about whether Trish is more popular in that match in Japan, but on a whole, worldwide.

Well unless this is a legit MMA styled tournament of real fights, then it will. Again, if this is supposed to be like the WZ Tourney, then there is an argument to be made that Trish would win this because of her drawing power and the success she's had in the field of pro wrestling.

So your just going to disregard the success of MAriko Yoshida because Trish maybe more successful in the world of Pro wrestling?

Trish's world wide drawing power becomes null when you place her in a region where the odds are going to favor her opponent being cheered over her. Even if Trish was more popular than Mariko on a world wide basis you couldn't say that Trish wouldn't only beat Mariko in her hometown, but would also out draw her in her own promotion as well and keep things realistic.

I would guess that a good majority of Trish's fans come form the States, how many of those fans would you guess would actually know what Joshi wrestling is? And If a Mariko vs Trish match were to happen in Japan, how many of Trish's fans in the States would travel to Japan to see it live? I guessing most of Trish's fan support would come from her fan support in Japan, and those fans in Japan are not going to cheer Trish over Mariko Yoshida.

Ech, you're just not getting it man. I am not talking about this match in particuliar. I'm not talking about whether or not Trish could outdraw Mariko in Japan in this match in her hometown, I'm talking about who is the more successful professional wrestler, which undoubtedly would be Trish Stratus. You may argue with this, but she's made more from wrestling then Mariko ever has, and all I'm saying is that because of that fact there is an argument to be made for Trish. I'm not voting for Trish, I've already said this.

What more money? won more championships? won more awards? Gave more back, and was a greater influence to pro wrestling

all of these can be argued Xfear

Mariko has won more awards than Trish, she's won Champion Championship gold more times than Trish

You are aware that Mariko Yoshida did start several wrestling promotions of her own right? One of them, ARSION, eventually because a top main stay women's promotion in Japan. So all the fans that Supported ARSION, paid for the matches and the main events and the Videos can be credited back to Mariko Yoshida. Mariko Yoshida has also trained countless number of wrestlers. Invented wrestling moves that are used as far as the States by both men and women.

The only clear thing that Trish really has over Mariko is popularity, more people know who Trish is thanks to WWE. But that alone doesn't make Trish better than Mariko, especially when you look at all that Mariko has done for Joshi women's wrestling in the last 20 years.

Your trying to take two of the top women of two completely different wrestling styles and trying to compare them

I'm going to vote on the tourney but i'll be the first to admit i need to do my homework on these japanese bitties. I know Trish obviously and respect her as an american female pro wrestler. With that said i'm going to give the japanese girls a fair shake in this thing but i dont think everyone else will. I'm willing to bet the majority of WWE divas will advance past round one. I havent llooked at the match ups yet but the only modern day WWE divas who you could make an argument on moving past the first round are Trish, Lita, Molly Holly, Mickie James, Beth Phoenix and maybe an outside shot on Melina or Candice depending on matc up. I'll give the japanese girls a fair shake but if they dont impress me i'll vote for the american females out the gate esp in the Trish Stratus case cause she could go in the ring as well as being arguably the biggest american draw.

You won't have to look far, I'll be posting a shit load of Mariko matches when the matches begin. All that I ask of people is that they actually watch the matches before they vote.

People complain when the WWE divas get rated so poorly and they complain when an unknown form another wrestling style is being pushed over them and yet half of those people that complain won't even be bothered to watch a 10 or 15 minute clip that will show them why this is happening.

After watching Aphelions match of Mariko Yoshida all i can say is that she is a straight up beast when it comes to mat wrestling its almost border line MMA style. I dont know how U.S. fans feel about that cause she's not an American style pro wrestler but she definitely has ability and is no joke. Trish could compete in a stand up game but if it goes to the mat Trsish is in trouble. I have to take all factors in to consideration....mat ability, stand up, endurance, speed, drawing ability, and region of competition but i'm definitely thinking about it now...alot.

These brackets are kind of a joke im sad to say. I mean Lita going over Fabulas Moolah and Bull Nakano(the prorcupine) just seems wrong. Nakano would just sit on the tiny Lita and Moolah would wrestle blindfolded with her eyes shut, I mean who else has held the title for as long as she did?!. Not to mention the whole Trish Startus argument. Yes she is a draw, but she would get her arse whupped in a Japanese style of match.

Shit, even Hulk Hogan had to change his style when he was over there, I remember seeing a picture of him actually doing more than his usual 4 moves~! :O

And I agree with this ^

people are going to look at the Trish/ Mariko match and automatically vote for Trish because she was more popular in the States. But her popularity that she carried in the States and wrestling for the WWE won't carry over in a match in Japan and especially not in a promotion like AJW. Trish will be wrestling in front of a crowd that does not view pro wrestling the same as the fans in the US, and much less the fans of the WWE.

And because this match will be in Japan, its not going to be about how good of a wrestler or entertainer Trish was in the WWE. This match is going to be all about how well Trish can follow a match set up in Japan, and how well she can follow the rules of a match set up by AJW, not the WWE. And Since the women in Japan are judged by how good their overall in ring skills, and not how good they can handle or mic or how good they look in a skirt, I don't see how Trish stands a chance in this match. Trish has mediocre in ring skills at best, and she's going up against arguably the best women's technical wrestler found anywhere in the world of the last 2 and half decades in Mariko Yoshida. Plus Trish is wrestling Mariko's match style, with Mariko's rules, in Mariko's country as well as Mariko's hometown. Trish is wrestling against a crowd that won't cheer her over Mariko, so she can't feed off of them. Trish is in the hole so deep in this match I don't see how ANYBODY can justify voting for Trish in this match with these stipulations.

And if anybody does, I hope they explain themselves

those women work stiff! trish wouldn't be used working in conditions where wrestlers work stiff and don't sell her offence. the scary thing is mariko sort of reminds me of a female technical version of kane, just the way she doesnt sell punches and kicks as fazing her and the big boots.

Anybody else think its funny that the person who set up the torney made it so the person that they hate the most it seems Trish got the worse possible draw and the easiest argument to make against her. In a tournament where people vote for who they think will win it is my belief that aphelion just set it up to see the results that they wanted. For something that they are trying to promote as unbias and purely on skills it sure seems that they are really biased and even though i wasn't planning to vote for Trish now I don't know based on how much you just have to love the person being made out to be the underdog

:lmao:

I didn't "plan" for this to happen, when I was setting up the tournament I did the seeds by ring in technique, and therefore Trish got a low seed. I didn't place her in the AJW region on purpose, its just how the arrangement fell when I looked at the list I had and put everything back in order after I sorted everyone by their in ring skills.

As far as me being biased, I haven't even touched any of the other matches, the Mariko/ Trish match was the only one I saw as a special case because I knew that people would just vote for Trish and not do the research to see what Mariko had to offer.

In all honestly Mariko Yoshida would own and school Trish Stratus. Ive seen enough of Yoshida's matches thru YouTube and shes can easily make Trish tap out and not even use the Air Raid Press. Don't get me wrong Trish is a good wrestler and a good entertainer....but the tournament is about how good of a wrestler the women are...not about whos more over then the other...if that was the case most of the wwe women would advance. I hope some1 can post some of the matches of the Japaneses women so most of the voters can see how they wrestle before voting.

first off all shouldn't you be unbiased also if this is anything like the original WZ tournament being a good draw is important for instance how the hell is dr. death steve williams a 63 seed
