CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – With their clash at WWE Over the Limit looming, World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton and Christian played a bit of a game as to how willing they were to protect each other’s readiness for Sunday.

World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton def. Mark Henry by Disqualification
World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton was holding his own against The World’s Strongest Man Mark Henry – until Sheamus decided to make a statement with a ruthless attack. After the match went to Orton because of a disqualification, Henry joined The Celtic Warrior in a vicious 2-on-1 assault on the recoiling Viper. As the brutality unfolded, Christian emerged at the top of the ramp, hesitated a bit, then decided to help the champion fight off his attackers. With the odds evening, an energized Viper took down Henry with a blistering RKO. After the dust settled, Christian and Orton celebrated with a handshake. But come Sunday, which Superstar will be celebrating a World Title victory?

The Great Khali def. Jey Uso
Newcomer Jinder Mahal continued to get in The Great Khali’s face on SmackDown. After the verbal lashing, the focused seven-footer got an easy victory over Jey Uso with a Khali Chop followed up by a Punjabi Plunge. When Jimmy Uso stuck his nose in things, he too felt the destructive force of the Khali Chop.

Ted DiBiase def. Trent Barreta
One week after being beaten in a match against Cody Rhodes, Ted DiBiase was surprisingly accompanied to the ring by the masked Superstar. After making DiBiase wear a paper bag over his head, Rhodes laid down some harsh criticism by saying “what once was a blooming flower, is now a wilted shrub.” After the rebuking was over, DiBiase took care of business against Trent Barreta, dispatching of him with Dream Street.

Chavo Guerrero could not beat Daniel Bryan within five minutes
With tensions growing between Chavo Guerrero and Sin Cara – and a match between the two at WWE Over Limit looming – Chavo wanted to prove he was the better Superstar. To showcase his skills, Chavo set out to beat Daniel Bryan quicker than Sin Cara did last week. However, when the self-imposed five-minute limit was up, Chavo could not get the victory. Before he could ponder the loss, Chavo was downed by an attacking Sin Cara in one fell swoop. Is Chavo in for more of the same at WWE Over the Limit?

Ezekiel Jackson, WWE Tag Team Champions Big Show & Kane def. Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett, Heath Slater & Justin Gabriel
Before the massive tag team bout began, Ezekiel Jackson spoke about how his recent attempt to walk away from The Corre was met with a beating. A fired up Jackson then led his behemoth team to victory by slamming Justin Gabriel five times during the match, then finally making him submit with a backbreaker. Can Jackson finally assert his independence with a win over Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett on Sunday?

Divas Champion Brie Bella def. Natalya
After recalling tangling with Kharma on Raw (WATCH), Brie Bella picked up a victory over the hard-charging Natalya. Will Brie continue the momentum into WWE Over the Limit when she defends her title against Kelly Kelly?

Christian def. Sheamus
After a formidable fight from both Superstars, Christian escaped Sheamus’ High Cross and rolled him up for the pinfall. But before he could celebrate the win, Christian was attacked by Mark Henry. Next, Sheamus soon joined in the brutal assault. As the 2-on-1 beating continued, Randy Orton appeared at the top of the entrance ramp. A hesitant Viper watched the carnage from afar before finally rushing to the ring to help fend off Christian’s attackers.

World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton def. Christian

Amid the outrageous calamity of WWE Over the Limit, World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton triumphed over Christian, crushing Captain Charisma’s hopes at regaining the illustrious World Title he has worked for his entire life. The critical match between two of SmackDown’s finest grapplers transcended the epic championship struggle that the WWE Universe was expecting. From the opening bell, it became a personal battle, fueled by the lifelong desire of two Superstars to be the absolute best. Orton, a third-generation brawler, was destined from birth to make himself part of the squared circle elite. Christian – the onetime starry-eyed boy with the impossible dream – who as long as he could remember has been giving his blood, sweat and tears to become a World Champion. And when the smoke cleared of this knockdown, drag out struggle for supremacy, it would be The Viper that would strike the loudest. After flipping himself out of the Killswitch, Orton blasted his adversary with the RKO and covered him for the all-important three-count. Then, in the aftermath of the brutal match, the two great Superstars shook hands in the middle of the ring in a well-deserved moment of absolute mutual respect and unquestionable honor. Just five days after capturing his first World Championship at Extreme Rules, Christian’s lifelong dream swiftly descended into a nightmare when The Viper pinned his shoulders to the canvas on the May 6 edition of SmackDown. One week later, the noticeably disappointed former champion took the high road, congratulating WWE’s Apex Predator on his newly acquired eighth World Title, claiming that he held no ill will toward Orton or SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long for making the match. Instead, he chose to set his sights on reclaiming his glory in a high stakes rematch at WWE Over the Limit. But, Christian’s redemption was not meant to be. Christian – much like his victorious opponent – has always enjoyed a special bond with the WWE Universe, thanks to the unrelenting drive, courage and heart that makes him such a cunning warrior. However, now that Randy Orton has bested him on two separate occasions, will he be forced to succumb to the notion that some dreams are ultimately beyond his reach?

Ezekiel Jackson def. Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett (Disqualification)

Wade Barrett may have retained the coveted Intercontinental Title, but Ezekiel Jackson walked away with the victory and a psychological advantage – he may be too strong for Barrett to handle. It took Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater’s interference to salvage the Intercontinental Championship and, the well-being of fellow Corre member Barrett, ending the match in a disqualification. Barrett truly believed that he could be unstoppable when he moved to SmackDown after CM Punk took control of The Nexus. The bare-knuckle brawler had two intensely loyal comrades — and fellow WWE NXT alums — Slater and Gabriel at his side, as well as a new follower in the form of the final ECW Champion, the monstrous Jackson. Calling Jackson a powerhouse is putting it lightly; there are few Superstars who posess the power and strength to knock down Kane and Big Show. At first, Jackson seemed like a great fit and complemented The Corre exceptionally well, but the self-professed “Personification of Domination” was never meant to follow orders. Heading into WWE Over the Limit, both Superstars had made it abundantly clear how they felt about each other. Jackson had walked away from The Corre during a match with Big Show and Kane, resulting in Barrett, Slater and Gabriel attacking Jackson in the locker room and “excommunicating” him from the group. Barrett, the first winner of WWE NXT, has stared down the likes of John Cena and Randy Orton and held his own. However, underestimating your opponent is the biggest mistake any WWE Superstar can make. Barrett believed he could handle Jackson inside the ring, but as he quickly learned, the “Personification of Domination” is an absolute powerhouse. Inside the squared circle, Jackson is not unlike Marvel Comics’ jade giant, The Incredible Hulk. He’s big, powerful, agile and you certainly wouldn’t like him when he’s angry. This was all evident at WWE Over the Limit. And with the tension building up in weeks prior, it seemed to be a matter of time before Jackson would smash Barrett. However, the Englishman is no slouch himself and managed to mount an offense expected from the Intercontinental Champion. Yet every time Barrett gained the upper hand, it seemed to only enrage Jackson further, as if there was something super-powered flowing through his veins. Finally, when Jackson’s power reached a peak, the intensely loyal Gabriel and Slater made the quick decision to save Barrett from certain domination. Although Barrett left with the Intercontinental Title, Jackson is surely far from finished with his former cohorts following the groups brutal assault after the match.

WWE Tag Team Champions Big Show & Kane def. CM Punk & Mason Ryan

WWE Tag Team Champions Big Show & Kane once again proved what happens when the irresistible force and the immovable object are combined. The larger-than-life duo were too much for former World Champion CM Punk and his New Nexus cohort, Mason Ryan, to handle as the Tag Team Champions double chokeslammed Ryan to retain their titles and continue their dominant reign. Undoubtedly, it was Big Show & Kane’s strategy that ultimately got the better of The New Nexus. Though two of the largest Superstars in WWE history, Kane & Big Show are only a pair, whereas the four men of The New Nexus display strength in numbers. However, the tag team champions were out to dominate in Seattle’s KeyArena and did so both physically and psychologically. Earlier in the evening, CM Punk and Mason Ryan entered their locker room to find compatriots Michael McGillicutty and David Otunga laid out on the floor. The duo seemed to immediately know that it was their opponents behind the attack, and Punk quickly convinced Ryan that it was an act of desperation by the champions, afraid to lose their titles. Moments before the match, the WWE Tag Team Champions made their way to the ring, interrupting Alberto Del Rio’s speech about destiny. Contrary to what Punk told Ryan, Big Show & The Big Red Monster did not seem afraid of their forthcoming matchup. Not only was it clear that they had attacked The New Nexus, but more importantly, the champions had also evened the playing field. In battle, the powerhouse of The New Nexus certainly used his size and strength to his advantage. Ryan took both Big Show & Kane off their feet numerous times and proved he could hold his own against both Superstars. But the veteran instinct of the Tag Team Champions would soon take over, forcing Ryan to tag in Punk, although his usually manipulative talents also proved useless in conquering his enemies. Despite the impressive force of Ryan and the cunning genius of Punk, the experience of both Kane & Big Show far outmatched the challengers. Without the other members of The New Nexus, The Straight Edge Superstar & Ryan were out-classed. The Tag Team Champions displayed great teamwork and built up enough momentum to stop Ryan in his tracks with a massive double chokeslam. Combined, The World’s Largest Athlete & The Big Red Monster are the most dominant force on Raw and SmackDown and they proved it at WWE Over the Limit by retaining the Tag Team Titles. While Punk & Ryan did their best to put up a solid offense, the size and psychological advantage of the champions is clearly evident. Perhaps no one – or any united force – can unseat them.

Sin Cara def. Chavo Guerrero

Sin Cara soared high at WWE Over the Limit, reigning supreme over Chavo Guerrero in his first pay-per-view showdown. The explosive standoff between the two fast-paced Superstars made for an epic encounter from the start. The virtual tennis match of earth-shattering offensive maneuvers between the agility machine that is Sin Cara and the crafty, high-octane Guerrero kept the WWE Universe completely mesmerized. And in the climactic moments of the electric tour-de-force, Sin Cara seized the moment, driving his adversary into the canvas, catapulting himself past his dangerous foe and into the stratosphere of pay-per-view victory. It’s no surprise that the Mexican match of tradition proved to be such a fierce battle when the WWE Universe considers the resentment from which it emerged. After making numerous claims that Sin Cara was "following in his footsteps" on the May 13 edition of SmackDown, Guerrero took it upon himself to help the masked up-and-comer win his match against Daniel Bryan. But, when Sin Cara took exception to his unwanted assistance, things quickly turned physical. The following week, self-proclaimed “Mexican Warrior” tried to embarrass his foe by attempting to defeat Bryan in less than five minutes. Moments after he failed to do so, Sin Cara emerged, fueling the fires by sending Guerrero flying out of the ring. In his short time in WWE, Sin Cara has set WWE ablaze, with a barrage of jaw-dropping assaults that shattered both expectation and logic. But, in the country he came from, “Guerrero” was more than a name, it was an institution – and for very good reason. The enraged Chavo came into WWE Over the Limit with his family honor on the line. And defeating such a high-caliber grappler when his back was against the wall was no easy task. In this classic encounter, Sin Cara proved that not even the experience of Chavo Guerrero could ground the gravity-defying Superstar in his meteoric rise. Who will the “international sensation” challenge next?
