WWE Royal Rumble 2013: WWE Championship - CM Punk (c) VS The Rock

This next RAW is the last one I will watch in WWE until Vince McMahon is dead.

I am so disappointed at the missed opportunities for greatness that were wasted so a part-timer could have a two month title reign only to lose to Cena at Mania. Hell, they'll probably even give Cena a 435 day reign just to spit in the face of CM Punk. I hope he leaves the company and goes to TNA or back to ROH where this kind of shit doesn't happen. SO disappointed.

you just saved me the trouble of writing this myself.
worst PPV i've ever seen with nothing but disappointments all throught.
ending 435 days reigh with a ******* elbow. WOW
could it get any worse?

I'm not annoyed about the result, or how they got there

But what I have to say is I remember pretty much nothing about this match, it was very ho-drum and flat IMHO & was the weakest match on the card.

Well, this did it for me. To let a part timer come in and win the title over a guy who has worked every night is downright insulting to a real wrestling fan.

How can Punk even go along with this? He should have quit and told them to stick it.

I can respect Cena. He works every night. Rock is a movie star now. He isn't a wrestler anymore.

SUPER ROCK!!!!!!

Seriously!?!?! THAT is how you end the longest WWE title run from one of your best performers? An elbow drop? Not only that but Vince bases it on "technically we didn't SEE Shield" but someone attacked Rock so you lose the title anyway.

Dumbest match, dumbest ending. SO glad I didn't spend the money on this garbage.

They better have a GOOD plan for Punk and WM. I dont want WM to be a rematch card like the rumors are saying.

As someone who saw this finish coming at Raw 1000, I feel obligated to talk you all down from the ledge. There's a storyline behind all this, for starters. The lights going out, Vince restarting the match, etc. is all a part of an angle that is just getting started. Whether or not there was a fiasco or not, The Rock was going to win this, so it's better that they made an ordeal out of it. Punk's reign didn't end without controversy. And don't forget, Punk isn't going anywhere. Neither are Danielson, Cesaro, and a butt load of talented wrestlers. Walking away from WWE is throwing the baby out with the bathwater. There's a lot to like outside the main event scene.

Lmao. I love all the hate on here. Call me a Rock mark or whatever. I don't care. That was epic. I mean really were we really suppose to see Punk win YET again? It was refreshing to see a new champion besides Cena when he won. Trust me, but Punk's reign was getting stale. Ratings prove that. Nevermind if The Rock is a part timer or not. It's The Rock. It's not Goldust or someone like that. It's THE FREAKIN ROCK. Punk can finally say he has arrived as a wrestler. He got to face AND main event in a PPV against The Rock. Punk is great, but it's not a suprise The Rock brought the best out of him which has been lacking for awhile now. He went back to great promos and had a legit feud that someone of his star power needed. This only elevates Punk. He's not out of the title picture by any means neccessary. If you think this actually buries him, than you need a serious grip on reality. Granted no one wants to see another Rock/Cena WM main event match, but this was GREAT for business. The Rock being on WWE television is a MONEY MAKER. You all know it whether you like to admit it or not. The Rock winning brought the kid out in MOST people, including myself. Look at twitter. Look at instagram, and I guarantee the buyrates will be high and the ratings for Raw tomorrow will be high. The Rock winning the WWE title after 10 LONG YEARS is epic and I'm ecstatic that I witnessed that when I never thought I would again. Thank you WWE for that epic ending. Thank You!! Some of y'all really need to get over yourself. Yes we want a new face of the WWE and want more technical wrestlers in the spotlight, but today on January 27, 2013 that is not the case. Punk's reign needed to be over and he'll get his chance to start a new one in the near future. Get over it.

I don't need to be talked off a ledge that I'm not on. I'm not "quitting" WWE. My beef with the match i HOW it ended. People complain about "super" Cena and the way he wins. They did the same thing with Rock.

I knew there was going to some screwjob-esque way that Punk would lose. I hoped not, I wanted him to retain till EC and lose it to him there, maybe being eliminated by Rock from the match.

I just hope there is a GOOD story as to what happens. I wrote a feud proposal for Punk/Taker in the WM thread (if you can find it). I hope that all of this, the 400+ day title run, the los to Rock...I just hope it's worth it. I hope Punk doesn't get lost in the WM shuffle.

This! The Rock winning the title had been planned since RAW 1000. That was the reason for Punk's heel turn and for his long title reign. He probably wouldn't have had it that long if they hadn't planned that. The thing that pisses me off is that people act like since The Rock won the title that guys like Punk and Bryan and so on will become jobbers. Where's the logic in that? Punk will get a rematch against Rock and if rumors are true, a WM with Taker. Geez, a WM match with Taker, you're sure being wasted right?

Also, I'm getting tired of people bringing up guys who bust their ass only for them to give the title to Rock. Bret Hart was busting his ass in the late 80's and early 90's but Hulk Hogan was in the main event. Why? Because Hogan was drawing huge. It doesn't matter how hard you work. If someone is a bigger draw than you then they just are. Get over it.

But, Rock isn't a full time wrestler! He doesn't deserve a title shot in the first place! That's the problem here!

That angle better be good and Punk better get his title back or this is officially the worst and most stupid ppv in the history of wrestling in my opinion.

I agree. You nerds need to get over CM Punk losing the belt to the Rock. Not only are you crying about him losing but now it extends to the way he lost. Hundreds of wrestlers have lost to the spinebuster to the people's elbow. What makes CM Punk any different from all the other legends the Rock beat with that move. GET OVER IT!

The rumors are probably true because Vince has become a money BITCH. He doesn't care about the future of the business, he cares about today's $$$. He sees that in Cena vs. DWAYNE 2. Which of course if ANYONE buys that PPV is a fucking pussy piece of shit for buying something after they were told "Once in a Lifetime."

Seriously, I like Dwayne, but that ending on both counts was bullshit.

Who cares if he isn't full time? Undertaker isn't and he draws huge at WrestleMania. Rock draws, get over it.

Didn't Hogan lose to the People's Elbow at WM18? I think that he did. If Hogan can lose to it, then Punk surely can.

I'm sorry why doesn't he deserve a title shot? If Austin came back and was a part timer, you're gonna say the same thing? Or what about Jericho? Hell would you say the same about Taker? Like give me a break.

Your logic is basically saying that since guys like Sin Cara are always busting their asses, they are the ones that deserve a WWE title shot??

And I mean get a grip, this isn't Charlie Sheen or some other bullshit move star/actor the WWE brings in. It's The ROCK. Yeah he's a movie star now but he WAS/IS a bonafide WWE LEGEND. He is known for what he did in this industry. Years from now when he decides to stop making movies and just retire in general, Dwayne Johnson will be remembered as The Rock. He was a LEGEND in the WWE, why wouldn't he deserve a title shot? Get over yourself bro.

Why the hell shouldn't Vince care about making money right now? He doesn't know what's coming down the road. He can only plan for the near future and that's WM29.

This is my point of view as well. He's not a Hollywood actor. Yes, he makes movies, but he's bonafide WWE Legend. As Jericho has said, the three biggest superstars in WWE history are Hogan, Austin and Rock. Rock's drew more than anybody on the current roster, including Cena and without a doubt Punk.

Because a fucking 435 day is such a slap in the face to CM Punk. How disrespectful can the WWE to this guy? They give him the best year of his fucking career and this is how they show it? By ending his title reign to a former nine time World Champion who beat John Cena in the Main Event of Wrestlemania last year? Son of a bitch...

All sarcasm of course.

Typical unhappiness from the forum members; nothing that I wouldn't expect. I don't give two shits if the Rock is a former wrestler turned Hollywood actor, he's still a former nine time World Champion (now ten) who's beaten the very best the business has to offer. Hulk Hogan, John Cena, Steve Austin; all huge wrestlers who have fallen to The Rock. There's no reason to whine about it. Punk lost his title to arguably one of the top stars of all time and there's no shame in that. You can't tell me Punk isn't ok with this. Not only a 435 day reign a WWE Champion when guys like Cena and Orton are perfectly healthy, but a rub from one of the greatest of all time. A 435 day reign as WWE Champion certainly isn't something to whine about. Whose WWE title reign will you remember most in a year’s time? You guys knew the end of his reign was coming. It's not like Punk is going anywhere. He'll still be relevant on the WWE's top brand because he is one of the WWE's current top stars. It's only a matter of time he's back in the title picture once Wrestlemania season is over.

Hey, guys. Wow, I haven't been on the forum since November. Thought now would be a great time to come back now that it's Wrestlemania season.

Anyway, I'm a Punk mark. My avatar says it all. I was bummed by Punk losing to Rock. In my ideal world, Punk would've held the title until Mania and dropped it to an up and coming star who would've benefitted greatly from the rub. I'm not a fan of part time veterans coming back and winning titles, especially the top world title, but fine. I get it. I had a feeling that Cena/Rock II was gonna happen and you're kidding yourself if you think Cena isn't gonna pick Rock to face at Wrestlemania. WWE is a business and Cena/Rock II THE money match that will generate the most revenue for the company. From a business standpoint, I guess this is brilliant. From my standpoint... well, it's kinda underwhelming but I suppose from the context of Cena's downward spiral and later redemption storyline it makes sense. I don't necessarily have to like it but it makes sense.

I do wonder how Punk will fit into Wrestlemania now though. I don't see a triple threat happening (and I'd honestly rather not) but he should be in a prominent spot on the card. Maybe the rumored MITB match or a match with Undertaker.

Why the hell shouldn't Vince care about making money right now? He doesn't know what's coming down the road. He can only plan for the near future and that's WM29.

The point is that there needs to be a plan in place for the future. WWE had a golden opportunity to milk Punk's reign until they had a young guy to take the belt from him.

This is purely hypothetical, and just an example for the sake of having a young guy in the equation... if Seth Rollins beats CM Punk for the WWE title down the line, now you have instantly built a star, a new money maker, because he just ended the historical reign of CM Punk.

All WWE has done now is make a short-sided, never ending chain reaction where Punk was only holding the title for the Rock, and Rock is only holding the title for Cena. And then what? We're back to square one. The WWE has not helped themselves. WM 29 is going to sell regardless of Rock, its fucking WRESTLEMANIA.

As a Punk fan, you should take solace in the fact that he's not going away. He's still the top heel in the company. He's still going be in huge matches. He's just not going to have the belt for now. To be honest, I think that's better for him. He had started to become secondary to his title reign. Now, that it's over, he can spread his wings and create better stories other than, "I'm The Best In The World Because I've Had This Title For 434 Day!"

Well, if that's what they should have done, then Punk should have already lost the title to Ryback at Hell in the Cell.

ill admit, im a punk mark and was upset he lost, but he will have a great match at mania vs whoever he faces so im not that upset. We will have another match where rock gets gassed in the first five minutes. rock needs to get his shit together for mania, cause his work in the ring is getting hard to watch.

I know that was a little rough. Punk was like, "Geez! Where going to have to slow the pace WAY down." Maybe they should put Rock in some tag matches on RAW to help build up his stamina?

Don't get me wrong. I'm very happy with how far Punk has come and that he's a top dog in the company and I'm glad he's not going away. I just feel that there were better ways to take the title off him. Not knocking on Rock. He IS a nine time champion after all. I just would've rather seen a younger talent that the WWE will invest in in the future get the rub from ending the historic title reign.

Ah I can dream. I promise you won't see me up in arms all "GAHDDAMMIT I'LL NEVER WATCH WWE AGAIN." Good God, I've seen enough of that tonight, trust me.
