WWE Royal Rumble 2011 - Aftermath and General Discussion

My favorite part definately had to be when Striker dropped the "holy shhhh" when diesel's music hit. with all the young fans now days i was surprised, but very happy to hear the crowd go nuts for diesel and booker. F*** Cena as well. The Miz screwed him sunday and i loved every minute of it. Simply AWESOME

 

[The Mark of Zur-En-Arrh]

1. Seeing JoMo get eliminated. TAKE THAT IWC!

2. Chavo's one man suplex spree. It was good to see the guy get to shine for a minute or two instead of being reduced to 100% jobber status like he normally is.

3. Surprisingly, i actually did enjoy the entire Hornswoggle part, from beginning to end.

4. Miz dumping Cena out of the ring made me cackle with evil delight.

5. Booker as a surprise entrant. I knew it was coming having read the spoilers, but it was still a truly awesome moment.

6. The whole Santino/Del Rio segment. A few minutes before that, Cole said 'One of these 4 is going to WM' and i thought '5 men Cole, one of those 5 men, is going to WM' and for a split second i thought Santino was actually going to win it, and then he started doing the trumpet dance and i knew Alberto Del Rio was going to pull off a miraculous recovery and seize the day, as it was his destiny.

Alberto Del Rio has been my favorite current wrestler since the first time I saw him wrestle; his promos building up to his debut were reminiscent of Kurt Angle's back in the day, which I also thought were brilliant. You are all liars, but Alberto Del Rio refuses to lie. He is the only real honest man. Awesome. And I love his armbar finisher; I think it's bad ass. Too bad submission finishers always get watered down over time and cease to be effective. Del Rio's character, the way he smiles and acts like a superface during his entrances and exits, the "you already know that," -he's great. Sure he hasn't been in the WWE long, but he's from a wrestling dynasty and his charisma is off the charts. Do people care enough about him one way or the other for him to be a Wrestlemania headliner? Probably not yet. Will we have a Del Rio/Edge, Miz/Lawler Wrestlemania? Possibly. It doesn't seem all that compelling to me, but who knows. Wrestlemanias are never bad, I'm sure they will make it interesting one way or another. Hard to top last year's.

I see a lot of posts regarding Del Rio's win...twice and how glad you are. But think about this...

What if Santino had actually pulled the upset off? Now before you bash me, think about this. Obviously Santino is not going to main event Wrestlemania. After the rumble is over however, have Del Rio constantly tryng to attack Santino, slowing wearing him out. Think of it like the 24/7 hardcore rules back when Crash held the strap. Santino could be running from Del Rio, who is pissed after his big loss. Del Rio eventually catches Santino after a few weeks and applies the Cross Arm Breaker, and just doesnt let go for anything. 1. that gives Del Rio MASSIVE amounts of free heat, as Santino is fairly well liked by the crowds, and 2. since Santino can no longer compete at Wrestlemania it opens the door for the rumble runner up, Del Rio. Remember that is how SCSA got his title shot despite VKM winning the rumble...

That scenario provides a HUGE shock factor, but still puts Del Rio in the spot, maybe even makes him look stronger and thus more dangerous to Edge's title.

Just my thoughts....would have been a lot more to talk about then.

Anyone else notice that they cut out the Big Show/Diesel staredown on the entrance ramp and Alberto Del Rio's entrance on the PSN download of the event? im not sure if its the same on dvd/blu-ray but i found it interesting
