Yes, It is finally the time of year where the road to WrestleMania begins.

I dont make threads so often but I will make an occassional thread because of this special event: The Royal Rumble.

It comes once a year, 30 men, One Ring, One DESTINY:
The Golden Ticket to Main Event WrestleMania.

Now the question thats on everyones mind is: Who will win? Who will return? Are there going to be any shocking events which will take place?

Well ladies and gents, we will discuss it all here.

The Royal Rumble is used now: a) to give a young superstar the push of his lifetime b) A shocking return (Cena in 08, Edge in 2010)

Will we see Edge win & be a back to back winner?

Will John Cena "return" on this night & win?

Will Triple H, Punk, and Christian return on this night & one of them end up winning?

So many scenarios on my mind.

Who knows as this is unpredictable.

BUT WE CAN STILL GIVE OUR THOUGHTS & MAKE OUR PREDICTIONS:

WWE is on a youth spring, they have Sheamus, McIntyre, Del Rio, Nexus, Rhodes, Kingston, Bryan, and The Miz.

Miz is now the WWE Champion, but who knows if he will carry it till the Rumble.

The WrestleMania main event cannot have any of these young superstars main eventing, no offence they are great. But business perspective they cannot sellout the event.

So we also have returning superstars...which could possibly return by the Rumble: Triple H, Christian, Punk, Bourne etc.

MY prediction:
Christian will return & win (yes, I dont think he should headline Mania, but I feel it would be great)
If Triple H returns (he might not win) my prediction: Triple H eliminates Sheamus after being the 5th man left. Its HHH, Christian, Sheamus, and Barrett, and Del Rio.

I am assuming Edge def. Kane at TLC, or at the Rumble.

Its Barrett, Christian, Del Rio left in the ring. Cena makes his "Return" and screws Barrett.

Its Christian & Del Rio left, Christian is furious because Del Rio injured him, and eliminates him.

This can have Christian saying he is done with Del Rio, and now he wants to make a match at Mania that was history in the making, The match people been waiting for Christian vs. Edge.

I feel this is the only realistic main event.

DISCUSS HERE

I can see John Morrison winning The Royal Rumble. He looks like he can be ready for the main event scene. If he does not win then they better put him in a big storyline with a top superstar leading to Wrestlemania because I would hate to see him in the MITB match although he could become Mr. MITB.....

Hell who knows who would win. This Royal Rumble will be hard to predict. So many WWE Superstars that need the win but only one can come on top.(Jo Mo for the win):)

I can see John Morrison winning The Royal Rumble. He looks like he can be ready for the main event scene.

No offense, But as much as I love JoMo, as much as talented he is, and has a look.

We have been through this last year as well: I made a thread just like this, majority said Morrison will win The Rumble, hes ready. This is his year, he has the look of the main eventer. 2010-2011 he will be World Champion.

All this talk still led to John Morrison not getting anywhere, honestly I would love for him to be in a main event, he puts up classic matches, but will he sellout at The Main Event at WrestleMania...nope dont think so.

MY HONEST OPINION.

See Miz has more of a chance of being in the main event, as he is being promoted EVERYWHERE right now, because Vince sees money in the guy, he sees something in Miz.

But wait a few years for Morrison to build up because a superstar like him needs time to become on that main event level.

John Morrison will NOT win the Rumble and I'm willing to bet a wager on that. The man will in no way Main-event 'Mania given his zero mic-skills. No IWC overlord can make think otherwise.

I gotta bad feeling it's gonna be glorious and vindictive Road of WM for Randy Orton. He has the most leverage here and his road back to his championship seems the obvious choice. Not one of my favorites, but this and Cena winning and setting up a triple threat between him and Orton and Miz could also be a choice.

This could be true, but Orton won the Rumble back in 2009, Randy Orton is being pushed as the top superstar face who has heelish tactics, this is Randy Ortons year, and that would be another feather in Ortons cap.

But Randy has so many years in the WWE, and so many more wins of The Rumble to come, But I dont feel he should win this year.

We need something new but Main Event worthy.

I say its Wade Barrett, with some top faces who could potentially be at the Rumble (Cena, Edge, Mysterio, and Orton) a win for Barrett against these faces could solidify him as a top heel. If Taker does return by February, its possible the Dead Man will win the World Title setting up Undertaker vs. Barrett for at WM27.

I do think Miz has what it takes to main event Wrestlemania this year, given the right opponent. Which brings me to John Cena winning the Royal Rumble. This would be a great feud since both are great on the mic. I can see Christian/Edge for the title but I don't see them giving Christian the rumble win.

i think someone that is on the rise is going to win it. i dont think that someone like the miz, cena, edge, kane, mysterio, undertaker, sheamus, triple h, or orton are going to win it. so we have to look at who is a possiblility. we have daniel bryan who i highly dought will win. i think wwe is really buildinbg him up so they arent going to have him win the rumble this early in his wwe career. theres dolph ziggler who i like and think is great in the ring but i really dont think wwe will have him win. theres also wade barrett but i dont think he will be in the rumble. i think he will be in a match against cena to be honest. theres alberto del rio. i like this guy alot but i dont think he will win either. kofi kingston is another huy who i dont think will win. with all these guys not winning the rumble it leaves us with 3 superstars.

drew mcintyre - after all he is the chosen one. hes a great talent. great in the ring and good on the mic but with all the loses he has had lately i dont think he is on the right track to winning the rumble.

cm punk - probobly in my opinion the best all round wrestler that wwe has.he has really done everything. i can see him with a surprise win. yes hes injured but i can easily see him being healthy for the rumble. he could be a surprise entrent towards the end. have him commentating the entire night and then once we start getting closer to number 30 we hear punks music and he gets up from the announce table and he runs in the ring.

finally...

john morrison - in my opinion the most deserving. wwe has been pushing him lately. expetially with a win on ppv against a 2 time wwe champion. yes he lost the king of the ring but this could be wwe making up for that. jomo has all the right tools to win the royal rumble and headline wrestlemania an d win the wwe championship or the world championship. i really think 2011 is morrisons years. 2011 is when he becomes a true main eventer in the wwe.

I was actually thinking where this Orton-Miz, and Cena-Firing thing is leading to.

Something makes me think the Cena "firing" angle is just leading to a Rumble win, maybe Cena will "Call" WWE management, and the GM says the only way Cena can get his job back is if he wins the Rumble and wins the title at Mania. . Which will lead to Cena facing...Randy Orton. Yes, Randy will probably end up winning the WWE Title back from Miz.

We have seen those two collide during Ortons heel run, but now that Orton is face, it will be a whole different ballgame, Orton-Cena the two biggest faces headlining mania, that makes sence.

& remember when Cena sacrificed his career for Orton keeping the title? Well that was the build up point.

Something about this Cena "firing" & Orton & Cena teaming, and Cena & Orton respecting each other screams out WM27 MAIN EVENT.

It's sad that the day's of people appreciating actual "Wrestling" talent is long and gone, nowadays all you need is good mic skills to make it into the Main-event, even if you are an extremely repetitive and AVERAGE wrestler (AKA- The Miz)

I understand it's appropriate to have wrestling skills AND mic skills to make it as a Main-eventer....and people say Morrison sucks on the mic...Well guess what geniuses? Miz suck's at Wrestling. He has improved I will give him that, but that's basically going from being a Terrible wrestler....to mediocre. Hey, I like the Miz, I see potential in the guy. But It's kind of disturbing to me that people are SOOOOO against the thought of Morrison Main-eventing WM....But everyone get's an Orgasm over the thought of Miz doing the same, lol.

Now, onto my thought's on the Royal rumble match.....

Here are some possible candidates to win in my honest opinion.....

-Christian- This is kind of a long shot, but If WWE decided to give captain charisma a Main-event push, this would be the perfect way too do it. Imagine him entering at Number #29 or something like that....and Winning it, possibly setting up a World title match against Edge, I know it's unlikely, but anything is possible.

-Triple H- Not particularly something I would want to see, but it could be a good way to continue his feud with sheamus, and setting up a Wrestlemania rematch for the WWE title.

-Chris Jericho- I honestly believe this will happen. We have never Seen an Orton vs Jericho feud before (Atleast I think we havent) and this could be Jericho's attempt at revenge after Orton punted him in the head. Of course, this is assuming Orton is WWE Champion again by Wrestlemania.

See this seems semi-belivable, since the WWE "kiddie" fans totally forgot about Jericho. They dont go on the sites looking for spoilers, they dont know what the deal with his contract is like we do. So this could actually be the shock factor at this Royal Rumble.

THE RETURN ON CHRIS JERICHO!!!

But not necisarily he will win. I think if Orton does not win the the title, Jericho will come back and screw Orton over. Setting up a match at Mania.

I feel Jericho has done it all except for one: win the royal rumble.

So can this be it? Will Jericho win the Rumble?
Who knows.

This is why The Royal Rumble is such an amazing event...because so many angles, so many choices, so many main events can be built up.

Good answers, HeartAche.

The Royal Rumble is my absolute favorite PPV of the calendar year. It has been since I started watching wrestling. It is now 18 years later. The concept is gold and every Royal Rumble match is different from the one that preceded it. The one problem I have with the Rumble is, however, that the winner is usually predictable. Most years, you can make an educated guess at who is going to be in the last 5 people in the match. The notable exceptions being Cena and Edge's Rumble victories. Being the so called disciple I claim to be, here are my top 3 picks:

1) Wade Barrett: This year, I'm afraid we might see what we saw in 2009: WWE booking a stable alliance throughout the Rumble match. Instead of the group being Legacy, it will be Nexus. This time, however, I think that either Cena or Orton will be the good guy on the other side of the situation. Wade Barrett survives to win the Rumble using this advantage. However, he ends up losing the title opportunity sometime between the Rumble and WrestleMania.

2/3) John Cena/ Randy Orton: It's highly unlikely both of them will be in the Rumble. So, whichever one WWE books to face The Miz, the other will be in the Rumble match. I think that person is a shoe-in to be one of the final 4 participants in the Rumble at least, if not the winner. I think it's only a matter of weeks before Cena is reinstated on TV, and if Cena/Barrett is wrapped up, Cena would probably get the main event spot. However, if Cena/Barrett goes to Mania, Orton will get the title shot against Miz.

I don't think there is a shot in hell a Smackdown Superstar wins this match. There's just no one on that show that remotely looks like a candidate to main event WrestleMania or to win a multi-brand Royal Rumble.

Longest Time in Rumble

As far as who will last the longest in the Royal Rumble, my choices are probably either John Morrison or Sheamus. Morrison could use a strong performance in the Rumble to help boost his career and public perception. Having Sheamus last long in the Rumble would further the stereotype that Sheamus is dominant. Sheamus will likely be eliminated by a returning Triple H at the Rumble. It just makes sense from a booking standpoint. King of Kings stops King Sheamus at Royal Rumble.

Ok so far we had many great predictions, and so many great and logical choices:
So I will break this down from peoples answers so far:

1) John Cena: His firing angle could lead to a feud with Randy Orton

2) Chris Jericho: This will be "The Shock Factor" of the Event, the WWE fans (kids majority) forgot he exists, and dont know any updates about him. I barely know whats going on with him, we know he IS coming back, the secret is when? maybe WWE is keeping this a major secret making sure it doesnt spread out to the Wrestling News Sites, so they can set up a revenge match: Jericho vs. Orton.

+ This could be another Feather in Jerichos Cap.

----------------------
As a fan I would love Morrison, Kingston, or Miz to win, but lets be honest.

Would they draw in the WrestleMania main event?
Do you really believe the WWE will have a successful sold out WMania with Miz, Kingston, or Morrison main eventing?

I know its sad that it wont, but we got to accept the facts.

Has to be either taker or hhh in there return both have won a rumble before n it's time for both of these veterans to take the top spot at mania n on whateva show their on...... It's time to play the GAME................

i like the fact that people return at the rumble and if jericho returned to win that would be awesome but....do you guys not get sick of superstars returning at the rumble in 29th or 30th to win. why not have them return in like 13th and put on a strong rumble match where they actually deserve the win rather than being handed it

Well, it's hard to predict the RR winner but I think it's gonna be Trips or Christian. Both will have sensible storylines if they win (vs Sheamus and vs Edge respectively). But, another option is Mr. 3rd Announcer: CM Punk. He's good on the mic and a main-eventer. He CAN sell WM tickets if he's in the M.E. Or, it may even be JoMo. For all the JoMo haters out there, he IS receiving a push as he beat Sheamus clean at SS and then went on to the final of the KOTR. And I saw one post saying... "He's getting nowhere". Excuse me, he's getting to the title.

I see Triple H, Christian and Punk coming back. I also see a spot going to Cena, this leads my final five coming down to Christian, Barrett, Cena, JoMo and Undertaker. I see Cena and Barrett eliminating each other then Taker taking out JoMo. I think Christian will end up getting Taker out on some sort of interference with whoever taker is facing at Mania. I know its high unlikely but thats what I want to happen the last thing I want is HHH or Cena winning I like both of these guys but I want someone new to win.

The person that I would really want to win the Royal Rumble and then go onto face Edge at Wrestlemania for the World Title would be Christian. But I don't think that is going to happen, but I would at least want him to return at the Rumble.

As for who I think will win, it could either go to Wade Barrett or John Cena. I think Wade has a good chance of taking the win as he is hot at the moment, young and needs a place at the top of the Wrestlemania card to keep his momentum running. On the other hand, Cena's win would also make a great moment if he were to eliminate Wade last to take the crown and move on to another feud.

you have to think the You have to think the favorites are Cena, HHH and if Undertaker is healthy maybe him, but I do believe the Undertaker streak is like another title match and I would not like to see it wasted on one of the titles, but honestly I would love to see CM Punk win the rumble. He is commentary so everyone one who watches RAW sees and hears him all time it’s like they are putting him out there to get to people. Now come rumble lets say we are half way through the rumble and the count down to number 14 is on and no one comes out, then we have the final two competitors in the ring let’s say Cena and Barret. Then all of a sudden CM Punk runs from commentary to knock both of them out and win the rumble. This will cause major heat and put him strait back to where he was before. I would have him face Orton so either give Orton the title at the rumble or EC.

There are two guys I'd love to see win it, injuries permitting:

Christian - He deserves a chance to main event in WWE, and he's got a ready made feud with Edge that if promoted correctly would be money. And in Vince's eyes that would make it Wrestlemania worthy.

CM Punk - Although a Rumble win would probably bypass a proposed feud with Daniel Bryan, Punk should be main-eventing whatever show he's on. What better way to get him back to the top of the card than defeating 29 other men and going on to main event (well, be in one of the main events!) at Wrestlemania? They could even have him do commentary during the Rumble with Cole and the King before his music hits and he jumps in the ring to compete.

Whilst I'd like either one of them to win, I don't think they will. Wrestlemania has become too big and Vince relies on it too much to draw high six figure PPV buyrates that I don't think he'll take a chance on someone who isn't established enough as a headliner. Bearing that in mind, I think that leaves you with HHH, John Cena and Randy Orton as the viable candidates to win the Rumble.

HHH has a feud with Sheamus waiting for him when he returns, but is that worthy of headlining Wrestlemania? Probably not, but remember they were done out of a WWE title match last year so they might feel it's owed to them this year.

Despite that, I think that either Randy Orton or John Cena will win the Rumble because I see these two being involved in the WWE title match at Mania. They've got a lot of back story and even though it's been done before, it'll have a new twist to it with Orton being a face. So one of those two will win the Rumble and whoever doesn't will take the WWE championship at Elimination Chamber to set up John Cena v Randy Orton at Wrestlemania 27.

I think this Rumble will be won by either Wade Barrett or (cringe) John Cena.

Barrett has an entire stable to back him up in this thing unless David Otunga screws him over. WWE has been pushing Wade pretty hard lately as the top heel in the company and I would not be surprised to see him win the 30-man over the top rope challenge. I agree with the statement above that John Cena could be a winner too. Royal Rumble + Boston = Likely Cena win. The other route is of course making the entire crowd groan at Nexus eliminating Cena.

I would just like to say that some people on these forums need to be a little more realistic when it comes to the Wrestlemania main event. There is (to quote Vinnie Mac) NO CHANCE IN HELL John Morrison or Christian will win the Rumble. Come back to reality, people. I mean no disrespect but there is just no drawing ability in those two competitors right now besides our small IWC. Names like Orton, Cena, 'Taker, HHH, Barrett, Sheamus, Edge and (cringe again) Rey Mysterio draw 10 fold more that Christian and Morrison do right now and will continue to do so for the next few months leading into 'Mania.

Now this is how I think it SHOULD go

CM Punk: I really don't want him to get lossed in the shuffle on RAW. I don't think he should be on RAW Currently. I would have him Win the Rumble, then Jump to SmackDown and Challenge the WHC.

Christian: I would like to see him maybe feud with Edge, but I don't think So. I think he will feud with Del Rio when he comes back.

John Morrison: He deserves it, he works his ass of in almost every single match he is in, he almost won KOTR, what more does he have to do?

Chris Jericho: You never know, Maybe He could also be a returning Supestar and Win.

I am also just gonna throw in a Wild Card, Batista, There have been rumors he is coming back, Even Batista Said it himself so who knows.

ALSO I JUST WANNA SAY CENA NOR BARRETT WILL WIN THE RUMBLE

First off there hasn't been a multiple rumble winner since Stone Cold and it doesn't seem that there someone like Triple H (02), John Cena (08), or Randy Orton (09) winning.

With that said, of all the top stars in the WWE who has never won the rumble, the most likely would have to be CM Punk or Chris Jericho.

With CM Punk, you get a great lead up with great promos and a great match as long as it is not against The Miz.

Then for Jericho, he has done it all...except win the rumble. This could be a means for Jericho to put the finishing touches on his Hall of Fame career and get his revenge on Randy Orton for punting him in the head.

Essentially the more likely of those two to win it is Chris Jericho.

Alright, lets get the dumbass predictions out the way first:

CM Punk: Not fit, hence why he's on commentary
Undertaker: Also, not fit. Plus, a) he wouldn't need it to be put into the ME b) he has the streak to defend anyway - likely against Kane or Barrett.
HBK: This is just too stupid to bother replying to.
Jericho: Is it possible? Yes. But he walked away and is no rush to come back. He might return at EC, and also wouldn't need the RR win to be put into the title picture.

Now lets deal with the more realistic ones:

JoMo: I like the guy, but do I or, more importantly creative, think he could draw in a WM ME? No chance. As noted, many people predicted a win last year and for it to be his break out year. And he's gone nowhere. Sorry but it's true. I think he's nailed on to win MitB at WM, which then gives creative more time to decide what to do with him if he improves his mic work.

Christian: I think he might reappear at the event, but while the guy perhaps deserves a title shot, the idea of it happening in the WM ME is laughable. He's less of a draw than JoMo. Maybe an outside bet for MitB.

Edge: No reason, as I see him winning the WHC at RR.

Barrett: Surprised he's not been mentioned. He could perhaps do with it, given the kicking his credibility has been given. But with Cena likely to be the match, he'll be 'screwed' again in all likelihood.

Cena: Somehow creative will find a stupid storyline to put him in the match. As it's in Boston there's a good chance he could win, but it might be too predictable even for WWE creative, might that is.

Seamus: Again I'm surprised he's not been mentioned. Creative are obviously high on him given the recent KotR win. That might indicate the limit of the push for now, or it might the next step. There's one big obstacle to a Seamus win:

HHH: I'd put money on him at least returning at the RR, if only to screw Seamus and set up that fued to finish at EC or WM. But, given his progress in securing the next generation of the McMahon empire, the order could well be given to let him win. Again, he's another who doesn't 'need' the win to be in the ME/title picture come WM, but to Trips, ego and family ties are everything, so a 'shock' return win would be possible and the easiest to book.

Randy Orton: If he was 100% fit, I'd say he might be moved into the match. As it is, I think another screw loss to Miz(erable) is the most likely some of his efforts on the day.

Del Rio: In my mind, the most logical and deserving guy to win. He's ME mic skills and will be free after TLC of Rey. So a Del Rio win would set up a fued with Christian going into EC and then either a singles vs Edge at WM, or insert Christian if he's not in MitB

Result: If creative is lazy, expect a Cena win. If Creative is given orders, then it's HHH winning. But if it went to the most deserving guy, who needed the win to put him into the ME level (thus wasn't already considered an automatic title contender), then it's Seamus for Raw or Alberto Del Rio for SD. But when was the last time WWE gave the win to the most deserving person or didn't take the laziest option? PV

Would love Christian to return at the rumble and win and go on to verse Edge at Mania for the title, with Christian picking up the win and the two continueing a feud for a few ppvs.

2nd choice would be for a returning Chris Jericho to win and face Orton for the title at Mania, bit of background already with Orton "injuring" Jericho with the punt kick on Raw. Happy for the result to go either way.

3rd choice would be for CM Punk to win (Ideally he's commentating at the time & his music goes off so he gets in the ring from the announce table, somewhat of a surprise return) to face either Cena or Orton, with Punk going over Cena, not fazed who wins if it's Punk vs Orton.

Absolutely do not want a repeat winner, especially Cena, Orton or HHH.
