WWE Over the Limit - General Discussion

Shemanus hasn't worked a schedule with anyone to warrant a match and has been doing promotions work, they still coulda input him in a triple threat with Cena and Batista but they obviously want Cena to go over Batista one on one for a final time b4 Batista leaves.

More likely they are waiting for Triple H to be done with his movie so he can come back and wage revenge.

Taker well, who woulda he faced anyway, Swagger is already booked.
HBK is gone so they can't have a rematch.
He'll be back soon enough to either win and have a brief title run or lose and disappear til SurvivorSeries

Overall, who cares, it's an inbetween PPV that won't advance much, it'll just setup some storylines going into SummerSlam.

Sheamus should have a match at the PPV.But he dosen't why, cause he isn't in a fued or doing anything at this point in time.I like Sheamus and his matchs with Hunter were good.I could see Sheamus being angry since he didn't get a match on PPV on Raw after it.And then he will be in the WWE Championship match at Fatal Four with Cena,Orton,Edge.

Taker I'm not surprised about. We all know that he takes time off the get ready for his half year comeback. He puts everything into his Mania match and needs time to get better.

Well, Undertaker has been known to take a couple of months off after WrestleMania to recover himself and work his other job. Shit, the man can be a rarity even when he is working full-time. No surprises with Undertaker.

Hell, I'm not surprised Sheamus isn't featured on the card, nor should he be even advertised prior to the event. The man is known to be an intimidating specimen with the way he looks, but what's more menacing is the fact that he ninja's his way through everything. The weeks before he took out Triple H, what did he do? He wrecked shit up by coming out of nowhere to take him down a peg. He has done the same thing to Cena as well. I fully expect him to be participating to some extent at the PPV that will start a new feud and the next night on RAW it will be heavily promoted via video package.

Undertaker will never be forgotten and can afford to take the time off. Sheamus' character of sneak attacks and him being WWE's best rising star transition in a while will not allow him to lose any momentum. These two should be the least of our worries.

I hope this PPV is a good one.I see 3 matchs that have a good build up and have great wrestlers.

Punk vs Rey
This match has awesome all over it.The build to this match has been great and I hardly ever watch smackdown. Both men can put on a great match so looking forward to it.

Edge vs Orton
The histroy between these two makes for great television.Orton and Edge will have the crowd on their feet before this match is over and it will be classic.

Hart Dynasty vs Miz and Y2J
The reason I'm looking forward to this is because of Jericho and The Miz.I have a good feeling that they will not win but hope that they can put on a great tag match. This one has a chance of being really good with Jericho who is a great wrestler and Miz who is getting better every time he enters the ring. The champions aren't pulling me in in this match.

I'm actually more excited for this pay per view than Extreme Rules (which I wasn't expecting much from but managed to surprise me). Here are my predictions:

1. Ted Dibiase v R Truth
Should be a decent singles match. Based on how miserable he looked on Monday, I have a sneaky feeling Virgil is going to screw Ted over and give Truth the win, furthering the feud.
winner: Truth

2. Eve Torres v. Maryse (Divas Title Match)
I'm a fan of the Divas, but I don't have the highest expectations for this match. Both ladies have improved greatly though in recent months so I'm interested to see how they work with each other. Eve hasn't really had a chance to get over yet so I'm thinking she gets the win to give her a chance to.
winner: Eve

3. Jericho and Miz vs Hart Dynasty (Tag Titles)
This match has lots of potential to be exciting. I see the Harts retaining and continuing the feud, although an interesting twist would be the loss leading to a Miz / Jericho feud with one of them turning face in the process. But since both of them make such good heels that may be tough.
winners: Hart Dynasty

4. Randy Orton v. Edge
The REAL main event of the pay per view, probably going to be the most exciting match of the night. I see Orton picking up the win, with the feud continuing to Summerslam.
winner: Orton

5. Rey Mysterio v CM Punk (hair vs pledge match)
I'm going to go against the grain on this one. I think Punk will win and Mysterio will forced to join the SES. An INTERESTING twist would be Mysterio embracing the SES and turning heel.
winner: Punk

6. Drew McIntyre vs Kofi Kingston (Intercontinental Title match)
I really, really, really, REALLY want Kofi to win this match. I legitimately cant stand McIntyre. Looking at the big picture, I could see Kofi winning this and feuding with a heel-turned MVP for the belt.
Meanwhile, Drew goes on to win at the MITB pay per view in July and go after the World Title.
winner: Kofi

7. Jack Swagger vs The Big Show (World Heavyweight title)
I dont see them putting the belt on Show at this point. He's over as a face but in-ring wise I don't see it at this point in his career. I think this will be fairly one sided until Swagger pulls a cheap move to win. Probably going to be the least interesting of the title bouts.
winner: Swagger

8. John Cena v Batista (WWE Title / I Quit Match)
OK.....so everyone thinks Cena is winning this and Batista is going bye bye...and I think so too.

But what if...Batista is staying with WWE and all the info we've been getting fed through the net is false. He wins the match (probably in a dirty way) and Cena can't go after him for the belt. Which leaves going after him up to...Randy Orton, arguably the top face on Raw. Orton eventually beats Batista for the belt, then goes into a feud with Cena culminating at next years WM.

winner: Cena (probably), Batista (hopefully)

They're becoming very good at throwing random matches at us from nowhere these days, so i wouldn't be shocked to see Sheamus come out and rant about not being on the card, only to suddenly have someone else come out and challenge him, only to be squashed within minutes, and then Sheamus later interferes in Cena/Batista.

Personally i think it's good that he's not on the card, because we can dedicate a little time to Dibiase/R-Truth. Both guys need some PPV time, R-Truth needs to be featured on PPV for more then 5 minutes at a time, and Dibaise could use the heat for his latest gimmick, but i agree with the majority, Over The Limit won't be Sheamus free.

I'm not surprised. Taker is actually supposed to be taking time off but will make the occasional special appearance to boost ratings. Sheamus' character is going in a "I want to get noticed" direction which means that not this PPV but the next one is probably where he'll get his match with Cena. Cena/Batista needs to happen now to give Batista a proper send-off.

Shemus has been booked pretty well against Cena and I think he gets involved in the title match, seeing as he doesn't have a match I'm thinking he'll play a big part in that match so Cena can "over come the odds" once again like only Superman can.

Undertaker shouldn't have a match because he isn't in a program right now.

The guy I'm surprised isn't on the card is John Morrison, but I think he'll interfere in the Dibiasi Jr. vs. R-Truth match...on behalf of Dibiasi saying that he got paid and start a Truth vs Morrison feud.

so it's been said to death, and rightly so, that Undertaker is reasonably off this show and for good reason. plus it's not unexpected because he always takes some time off around this part of the year only to return around Summer Slam. so leave him off for now and maybe build up his return in a couple of weeks.

as far as Sheamus goes, i wouldn't be surprised if he helped Cena retain the title in the main event. reasons: then Sheamus can lay claim to "retiring" both Triple H and Batista and say that he has his sights on Cena or even Orton (seeing as how Triple H, Batista and Orton were all a part of Evolution). plus, Sheamus can then cut a promo on how, now that he got Batista out of the way, that makes him the obvious choice for number one contender to the world title, and that he wants to take it from the man that he took it from last year, which would be Cena. either way, it seems unlikely that Sheamus will be off the show and i highly doubt that he'll just be thrown in just a random squash match as that would do nothing for either character.

and, just an FYI, but i've seen a lot of posts about a Sheamus/Morrison match just to get Morrison on tv, but Morrison is injured right now. he hurt his ankle at a house show or dark match against Koslov. so he'll be out and recovering for just a little bit. it also explains why he hasn't been on Raw much since the draft. it's because he's hurt, not because the WWE is trying to bury the guy. and even if he weren't injured, why would all the Morrison fans want JoMo just thrown into an unnecessary squash match with Sheamus that has no meaning? what good would that do to Morrison's credibility? don't get that thinking at all.

Undertaker was always taking time off so I'll move past him but Sheamus should have one. The man hass been on the rise and just took out a main eventer in Triple H. I would have assumed that he would wrestle someone who when he beat them, he would seem like an even more legitimate monster. Someone like Mark Henry or The Great Khali. The match would most likely be awful but it would help further Sheamus once more. That's what I feel they should ahve done. He'll most likely interfere in the main event or at least issue an open challenge or soemthing along those lines.

Over the Limit 2010
Date: May 23, 2010
Location: Joe Louis Arena, Detroit, Michigan
Commentators: Matt Striker, Jerry Lawler, Michael Cole

It seems like we’re STILL on the same angles as we were on at Mania. I’m not sure if that’s good or not. Allegedly tonight is Batista’s last or one of his last appearances with WWE. I’m not so sure if that’s the case or not but with the gimmick match tonight, it’s certainly possible. Also on the card tonight we have Swagger vs. Big Show in a match I truly can’t predict but on instinct it’s Swagger. That all being said, let’s get to it.

We have a Spanish announce team. That’s rather odd for this day and age.

Intercontinental Title: Kofi Kingston vs. Drew McIntyre

Could Drew’s music be sweeter? So remember the idea here is that Drew got stripped of the belt and Kofi won a tournament for it. Drew got it put back on him because Vince likes him. This is the big showdown for it I guess. Drew jumps him early as Striker thinks we need to know that it’s been eleven years since the title has changed hands in Detroit. Ok then. The fans are all over Drew who is dominating early.

Apparently most people don’t like working with him which is odd. I guess you can tell more when you’re in the ring though. That makes more sense at least. Smackdown has definitely been having the better in ring stuff lately and this shouldn’t be an exception. Drew does one of those idiotic spots where he jumps into Kofi’s feet when he puts them up. What the hell was that supposed to be? The set might look cool but I can’t tell.

There’s this weird kind of spotlight thing going on from the end of the arena behind the announcers. It’s rather odd and looks like 6 lights coming off of it. Boom Drop in the corner of all places hits. Ok then. Trouble in Paradise misses and the SOS gets a clean pin. Wow did not see that one coming.

Post match Drew gets on the mic and says the show doesn’t keep going until he’s declared champion by Teddy Long. Instead we get Matt Hardy to an ERUPTION. Seriously it’s been like two weeks not 4 months. Twist of Fate puts Drew down.

Rating: B-. Not bad for an opener I guess. Kofi winning is kind of a surprise but I’d bet on Drew being pushed higher up on the card or into something against Christian or someone like that. Anyway, Kofi doesn’t need the title really, but then again neither does McIntyre. This worked well enough I guess and wasn’t bad at all. Not up to their TV stuff but not bad at all.

Punk is looking in a mirror and says he’s awesome. Tonight Mysterio goes straightedge. Luke hugs him which is kind of awkward.

We recap Ted DiBiase vs. R-Truth. This is a simple but effective feud. What more can you ask for? In short, Ted wanted Truth to be his Virgil.

Ted DiBiase vs. R-Truth

Truth’s entrance is awesome. I’m not a fan of him but I have to give him that one. The real Virgil is here with him instead. You can’t beat that for old school guys. Striker says rich people are better. Amen to that brother man. We even get a Virgil chant. WOW. Cole says that DiBiase paid a couple of guys a few weeks ago to take out R-Truth. One was Carlito. That’s rather amusing.

We get a Harley Race impression from about 1983 and the bounty to take out Flair. I love obscure as hell references like that. Truth busts out a Downward Spiral. I hate that move. Virgil looks more or less exactly the same as he used to. That’s either really impressive or bad. This is really sloppy. Truth…kind of hits the Lie Detector (spinning forearm) for the clean pin. That was bad. Virgil gets the Million Dollar Belt and tries to wake up DiBiase, despite the forearm grazing him at best.

Rating: D. Not very good and just SLOPPY. The stuff came off as weak looking and just all over the place. I didn’t like what I was seeing and the Truth pin just came off as from out of nowhere, which isn’t bad I guess.

Drew goes into Teddy’s office and says change the decision. Drew destroys the office and a picture of Martin Luther King. Never mind as he doesn’t wreck the picture.

We recap the Punk/Rey feud. More or less, Punk wants Rey in the SES. Rey says they’re hypocrites. This is one of the matches I have no clue on, which is the point I guess.

CM Punk vs. Rey Mysterio

All outside parties are banned here, which makes me think Masked Man messing things up somehow. Rey is in yellow tonight which makes him look stupider than usual somehow. Punk jumps him to start. That’s my boy. We get into a semi-Master/Slave dialectic from Lawler. That was bizarre but an essay on that got me through a college class. In a SICK spot, Rey gets thrown into the barber’s chair at ringside. That fucking HURT.

Punk is cut open too so they have to stop the blood flow. Can we get Linda in the Senate already? Rey looks at something under his wrist tape for some reason. The match stops for like three minutes because of this. We get an EPIC boring chant and Punk goes off. Seriously, a fucking trickle of blood is ok. Stopping a PPV for that long because of a cut like that is idiotic. I’ve never seen Punk fucking snap like that and I loved it.

Rey hits a sunset flip powerbomb for two. They crank it up and they both get a bunch of near falls. We get some weird dueling chants that I can’t quite make out. GTS of course doesn’t work. Punk gets a corner powerbomb though. Nice one. Punk kicks Rey’s fucking head off. GTS is reversed again and Rey hits the damn 619. Springboard Splash misses though and this is a good match.

And then we get the same pin that HHH beat Jeff Hardy with at some PPV where Rey rolls him up off a sloppy pin. I hate Vince. Punk is busted open again. Here comes Gallows and Serena and I hope I don’t know what’s coming. They have handcuffs. And here’s….KANE? What the FUCK? Punk is handcuffed and gets his hair cut. I hate WWE sometimes. I truly do.

Rating: B+. I really liked this match. I hate the booking, but the in ring stuff was great. There were all kinds of great back and forth things going on here with the great near falls. I can’t blame them for the cut thing as that’s a company decision. Also Punk just going OFF after that was great.

Ad for Fatal Fourway with all championships being in the title of the show style of matches.

Jericho makes fun of Show and Miz sneaks up on him which doesn’t work. Show threatens to know Jericho out, wake him up and knock him out again. This was funny.

And now let’s have a trailer for Prince of Persia.

Unified Tag Titles: Hart Dynasty vs. Chris Jericho/The Miz

There’s not much to say here at all. It’s not bad but it’s ok I guess. Natalya is solid as a manager. They say that on Monday when Hart won the US Title he was in his homeland. They make it sound like he came from an island nation with like four people on it. It’s a very standard tag match which is both good and bad I suppose. Kidd takes the Walls and the Codebreaker off a springboard. It just wasn’t a very good one. Somehow that only gets two. Wow.

Jericho goes off and yells at Kidd to stay down. That was kind of amusing. We’re getting a lot of near falls here. Miz and Jericho yell at the referee A LOT. Natalya trips Jericho and Smith hits the powerslam for the LONG two. This started slow but has gotten a lot better.

Skull Crushing Finale is blocked but Miz gets a rollup and the tights for two. DAMN good match here. I’m very surprised. Miz does his running clothesline into the corner but Smith catches him to set up the Hart Attack. NICE match with a SWEET ending.

Rating: B. I liked this a lot more than I expected to. Like I said it started slow but it picked WAY up soon after that. The clean retaining surprised me very much actually but it’s certainly a good thing. They needed that for some credibility and I’ve very glad they didn’t do the switch to another random as hell tag team. Nice match and a very pleasant surprise.

We recap Edge vs. Orton which is just that Edge turned heel again and had a great segment on Raw to set this up. This is the most hyped show on the card. Not sure if it’s going to live up to it. I doubt it will actually.

Edge vs. Randy Orton

They try to talk down the pop that Orton gets for no apparent reason. Orton goes for no tape again which is his new look I guess. Nothing wrong with that. Orton dominates early as would be expected I guess. Edge takes ove and the match is decent enough I guess. Edge hooks a body scissors and the fans think it’s boring. Orton reacts and counters with elbows to get a HUGE RKO chant going. Orton hits the elevated DDT to a huge pop.

The lack of tape thing is working for me. Spear is blocked by a kick. This crowd is NUTS for Orton but his arm is hurt from earlier. Hey we got some psychology in there! Orton might be legit hurt. Yeah he must be. We go to the floor and Edge misses a spear. This has to be legit. At least I think it is. Oh dear.

Rating: C-. What we got is what I’m grading it on as it’s pretty clear that wasn’t the planned ending. Orton was doing his mat slap thing and just stopped dead. Also no way that was going to end in a double count out. Until then it wasn’t that good but it did ok.

We recap Swagger vs. Show which you can read the Smackdown review if you want the story on.

Smackdown World Title: Jack Swagger vs. Big Show

This is another one where I don’t know how it’s going to end. Show uses some wrestling here and Swagger’s look is great. SHOW DOES PUSHUPS! Somebody get that boy a Twinkie before he passes out! Swagger goes for the leg and that doesn’t work. Show keeps coming back. After some boring stuff, Show sets for the chokeslam…..and Swagger blasts him in the head with the belt for the intentional DQ. WOW.

Well they went old school with that so I can’t complain. Two belt shots and Show gets up. A chair shot doesn’t work either and Swagger takes a chokeslam. So the world champion can’t put a guy down with two belt shots and a chair. Right. Show drops him with a punch again. Pay no attention to Swagger opening his eyes to make sure things are going right.

Rating: D. It was short and the ending completely sucked. Swagger looks weak as hell after losing to Kofi on Monday. He’s also lost to Morrison and Orton. Is there a point to him being champion? Yes he’s champion, but he’s another weak champion. It’s a good bit annoying but that’s WWE for you. They’ve been awesome lately so I can’t complain much I guess.

We recap Batista vs. Cena and Batista says he’ll make Cena say he quits.

Raw Women’s Title: Maryse vs. Eve Torres

This is better than I’d expect it to be actually. This has gotten some great build over the past few weeks and due to a lack of matches they have to give it a lot of time. Maryse randomly starts crying for no adequately explained reason. We actually get some near falls. Eve hits some fucked up face plant into a rollup for the pin. Cole, Striker and Lawler make jokes about Eve and just lose it on commentary.

Rating: C-. For what you had to work with here and given what Divas matches tend to be, this was actually decent. I tend to start most Divas matches at a D or so, meaning this was pretty good. There was some actual drama and Eve won with a nice finisher. Solid little match.

We recap Batista vs. Cena which is about 3 months old now. Mainly it’s about Batista being mad about getting Duct-Taped to the post to lose last time.

Raw World Title: John Cena vs. Batista

Batista has a mic and asks Cena if he wants to quit right now. Batista says the words I Quit but for some reason that’s not the end of the match. Cena of course blasts him with the mic. He has a chair within seconds. Some hero eh? Cena gets the split chants again. You can’t argue the guy gets people talking. The problem here is you don’t have to watch the first 20 minutes or so here as nothing is going to happen.

Batista hits the spear if you want to call it that. The fans are awesome tonight. Batista hooks his Rings of Saturn kind of thing but puts far less pressure on it. Cena stands up to get out of it and there’s the STFU. Ropes don’t count for breaks here. Batista passes out in the hold. Some animal indeed. In Austin vs. hart that would be enough. Not here I guess though. Cena gets some water and wakes him up. Ok, now HOOK THE DAMN HOLD AGAIN.

Cena won’t quit off a spinebuster. So Batista takes about 9 hours to set up the two tables on the floor and Cena just lets him. I can’t say I blame him though as it’s a breather for him. Batista gets a powerslam through one of the tables and Cena is cut BAD. Let’s get an EMT out there as we can’t have blood in an anything goes match! This is idiotic. We head into the crowd for a bit now and walk forever.

I guess they wanted to get away from the doctors. Cena is told to quit or he’ll be thrown over. Cena has to answer apparently. Or what? He’ll get water thrown on him? Idiotic line if there ever was one. Cena fights out of it and they fight on the barrier up there. Dangerous looking spot and Batista falls all of 6 feet onto some people. Shockingly, that doesn’t end it. I’m glad as if they didn’t it would have sucked to say the least.

They fight up to the entrance near some cars. I wonder if that’s how it ends. Cena won’t quit and the crowd POPS. Batista gets in a car which of course has the keys in the ignition and he runs into Cena and the set which shoots off some sparks. Apparently he didn’t hit Cena as he’s up and fighting. Striker says Cena had to have moved since there’s no other way to explain that. FU onto a 78 Camaro and he won’t quit.

Cena grabs the mic and says he was really hoping Batista would say that. They go on top of the car and Batista quits to avoid the massive FU. Of course he gets it anyway and goes through the stage. Post match Cena celebrates and the graphic in the corner pops up and they say good night but Sheamus kicks his head off as he turns around to really end it. I like that.

Rating: B. This was good. I don’t think anyone believed Cena was going to lose here which is fine. He went over as strong as possible and Batista looks like a defeated man if that’s the end of his run with the company. Either way this was a solid match and a solid way to end the show. It was over the top but that’s fine. Now, KEEP THEM APART.

Overall Rating
: D. This just didn’t do it for me. And before anyone jumps on me and says I overreacted to Punk/Rey, hell yes I did. I don’t like Rey and Punk is my favorite wrestler. It’s part of being a fan so shut up with the whole biased arguments. Hell yes I’m biased. Anyway, this show just wasn’t very good.

The best way I can put it is unnecessary. This show was unnecessary. Nothing of major note happened other than Punk and Rey. There was some solid wrestling on the show, but there was just too much that didn’t work for me. Having literally no heels win is just a weird thing to do. This show isn’t as bad as people are saying, but it wasn’t good.

Oh and word is Orton broke his arm.

I have to admit this show was pretty decent, it didn't live up to the awesome potential that the card could've given us, due to the fact that Big Show Vs Jack Swagger and Randy vs Edge really failed with the potential that it actually had, but in the end, I still think it was decent, it wasn't great, but it was decent.

Had some good matches, and definitely had some bad matches, just like KB noted, which really covers the whole thing, so I'm just gonna agree with the most of what KB said, but rate the show a C- to say the least.

I'm excited to see how many of the feuds is gonna continue the next week, hopefully the majority of them, with the exception of maybe R-truth and Ted DiBiase, and yeah that's pretty much it, it just shows how stacked with awesome feuds this card had, but ultimately didn't deliver the full potential it could.

I enjoyed this PPV very much.My choice for best match of the night would be Punk vs Rey.I loved the ending and how the SES came in and then Kane makes the save.Kind of funny how in 2008 Kane was destroying Rey.But it was a good match, at times Punk looked like he was gonna win but it wasn't ment to be.

On a side note, I didn't like the amount of doctor time in the ring.It happened in 2 matchs I think and it wasn't good at all.In the Rey and Punk match it was only saved by the fact Punk appeared to hear the crowd and go crazy.Punk destroyed Rey at that point which I think help the match. All over good PPV, not great but good.

All of the matches on the show just felt rushed to me, and that's not cool at all. McIntyre and Kofi could've been the show stealer match of the night, and the only good thing about that match was Kofi using the Ranhei for a win. I'm not too depressed with McIntyre's loss though.

The finish to Punk & Mysterio's match was a bad way to end such a great match. Although, I was laughing my ass off during that match. I mean it started with Rey being thrown into that Barber's chair. And then, when Punk was being held back for that blood stuff and the fans were chanting "Boring!" Punk came out pissed off as shit! I mean that was completely amazing. The amount of power Rey sold that whip into the barricade with was just gold. It gave me a great ass laugh, that much if for real.

And also, why the hell must WWE put Miz in a tag team? I mean damn, the guy has been in a team his damn near entire career, and the one time he's on his own he steals ratings. And I mean STEALS the ratings. And then, WWE goes and puts him in another tag team. And when that team splits, instead of focusing on the US title, they put him in another team...

With that said, that tag match was the match that stole the show for me. The excellent tag wrestling that was displayed just blew me away. You can tell that the ring psychology is with the Hart Dynasty, Jericho, and Miz... just the way it went was superb.

Finally, my favorite World title match of the night was Batista vs. Cena. I mean, I'm not too big on either wrestler, but I will say that I really enjoyed that match. It wasn't too bad, and it had great quality.

Overall, it was a rushed show for sure but it had it's good moments... So I'll go on record and say that it was indeed a good pay per view. Not worth the 50 bones, but still good.

What a PPV , that's all I gotta say. I don't remember seeing so many superstars suffer legit injuries after their match.

The only match I was pissed off about was Swagger/Show..absolute disappointment. Swagger can add "weakest world champ in recent memory" to his resume. He should've cleanly won that match, in my opinion

Seriously, a whole lot of bad luck in this PPV

Liked the PPV - a lot actually. (From the UK) and fell asleep after the Show vs Swagger match, so I'll comment on what I saw:

- Kofi vs McIntyre - enjoyed this match. Nothing overly amazing, but a nice shock at the end to see Kofi win. Hardy coming back well timed, all three of them should be in Fatal 4 Way IC title match.

- Ted vs Truth - wasn't hot on this match. Don't know why. I'm not totally sure why Truth was even here, I don't know why he won, match wasn't great and Truth's finisher is awful. Not even sure whether I hope this feud has progression in it. (Did anyone notice Cole saying - "When DiBiase paid off 'those two men' to attack R-Truth'")

- Punk vs Rey - Always enjoyable when Rey is in the ring. And the pair put on a really good match. Dissapointed that Rey won, think SES would've benefited from him great. Kane interference was unexpected (was he limping?). Worried that the SES may lose something after that defeat - beginning to really enjoy their stable.

- Hart Dynasty vs Jericho and Miz - enjoyed it. I'm a man and yet I was really cheering when The Hart Dynasty won. Very good tag team match, and delighted that HD retained.

- Edge vs Orton - difficult to rate - as Orton got injured just as the match may have started to get interesting.

- Big Show vs Swagger - the most predictable finish to a main event match in a long time. Swagger looks so weak at the moment its hard to see how he can retain at Fatal 4 Way/carry the belt beyond that. Wasn't too hot on the match at all.

The problem with this PPV was the issue that has plagued WWE through the past few years: Poor booking. Most of the in-ring stuff was fine: Kofi/Drew, Ted/R-Truth, Hart Dynasty/JeriMiz were all decent matches. By far the best match of the night was Punk/Mysterio without a doubt. Awesome stuff, and then the match gets stopped for blood? Really WWE? This policy needs to end. Not to rant, but blood should be fine if it happens naturally. I understand blading isn't a great idea, but natural cuts should be fine. Especially at the end where Punk was bleeding and screaming at Rey not to cut his hair, it really added to the intensity of the encounter. Im not a huge fan of Punk getting his head shaved but I understand WWE not wanting to essentially repeat the JBL/HBK storyline.

Now the bad. Orton/Edge started out slow but it eventually got going and was gaining steam until Orton messed up his arm going apeshit on the mat. The finish was clearly improvised and WWE couldn't do anything about that but it was still unfortunate and it killed the momentum and energy of the show. The solid mid-card matches and the great Punk/Mysterio match were really setting up for a great show, and then Swagger/Big Show happened. This was just awful. I wasn't expecting a 5 star wrestling classic, but this was just terrible. It hardly went 5 minutes, and the finish was just idiotic. Way to make Swagger look like a little bitch.

Divas match was your typical affair, and then we got Cena/Batista. Awesome table spot busted up Cena, and once again, here to kill the momentum of the match, the medics. Twice in one night? Maybe this will make WWE rethink this stupid policy. Brawling was fun, had some weapon shots, and Batista powerbombing Cena in the stands would have been crazy but that obviously wasn't gonna happen. So instead we get a lame spot where Batista falls onto the security guards. Then Batista tries to run Cena over with a fucking car? Really? Dumb as shit. And Batista fucking quits before Cena does shit to him. Cool attitude adjustment through the floor, but you could clearly see the shit ton of padding that was under there. Not to sound like The Miz but once again, really WWE?

Once again WWE drops the ball with a stacked card, ala WM 26. The early matches really got the show going in the right direction, but with Orton/Edge and Swagger/Big Show, the momentum and the energy the show had going just died. Really unfortunate, as this show is a C+ at best.

I enjoyed Over The Limit last night,Solid Matches with Cena/Batista,Punk/Rey,Drew/Kofi,Harts/JeriMiz,and even the Divas. I dunno why some of you are jumping on the Orton/Edge Match,it was fine for what it was. Plus they couldn't help Orton getting hurt. Solid PPV I thought as well.

Over The Limit should have been called 'The PPV Where Evil Never Stood A Chance'. I haven't read previous posts, but i'd be shocked if I went back and found that I'm the first person to comment on not a single heel left with the win at the end of the night.

Ok, so it doesn't really amke a difference, and a feel good PPV probably made the kiddies feel happy, but imo the first three matches should all have ended with the heels winning.

What was the point of Drew dropping the IC title mere days after having it given back to him? Is Drew with no belt vs Matt Hardy going to draw? Probably not. Is Kofi with the belt facing no one going to do him any favours? Also, probably not.

Ted Dibiase is trying to echo The Miz's success of getting out of the tag team division and becoming a top mid-card talent. He's re-hashing the Million Dollar Man gimmick (although he wrestles like he's The Ringmaster i.e. boring as fuck), but it works perfectly. Virgil got on the ring apron once, perhaps he forgot what it takes to be considered a decent manager? But anyway i'm ranting so back on topic....

How did Ted Dibiase losing cleanly to Truth do Dibiase any favours. R-Truth is your new Kofi Kingston for Raw. People are going to cheer regardless because he has a fun entrance, some flashy dance moves, and is good on the stick. Ted Dibiase is finally free from the lackluster Legacy angle, and needs every bit of help he can get to regain the fans attention, and imo, having him job to Truth is not the way to do it.

As for the match, I finally see a wrestler execute the suplex stunner, and the audience didn't pop. That was probably the best move that I've ever seen Truth pull off, and it barely got any reaction. Eve's kneeling facebuster got more of a pop than that for fuck's sake! And then he goes and wins with that poxy corkscrew forearm? Seriously? At least he hit it properly this time but still.... LAME! I mean that's like hitting a Canadian Destroyer but then winning your match with an Eye Rake kind of lame.

Then we had the SES/Hair match. Now i thought Rey may have done himself a serious injury when he went face first into the barber's chair. It was a sick thud made only worse by the fact that Rey misjudged how much room he had to get his arms up.... the answer was, not enough, and yet he did the spot anyway.

Now sadly, the momentum for this match was shot point blank in the head, because they had to stop for fuckin' blood. THANK GOD CM Punk decided to say 'fuck the rules' and went ape shit because he single handedly saved that match for the live audience. As soon as they started chanting boring, Punk went a million miles a minute and shut everyone's mouth in an instant, and for that, i gained a LOT more respect for CM Punk.

Rey Mysterio should be in the SES. Give this stable a nice big boost and an internal angle to work with, because right now, it's just 'Wrestler A' vs Punk with the other 3 in tow all the damn time, and Punk's mic skills are only going to keep it interesting for so long. By having Rey in the SES, kids can rally behind Rey as he fights to regain his independance from them, and hate Punk even more for surpressing Rey's 'warrior spirit' or whatever.

Instead, Rey gets the win, Punk is now bald, totally ruining the 'evil Jesus' look he had going beforehand, and now the fueds over so Rey can take a month off. I am so sick of booking being written around the talent's holiday shcedule. When Taker or HBK want time off, they have to get the shit kicked out of them on TV before they're allowed to disppear, so why does Rey Mysterio get to shit all over SD's hottest prospect before he takes time off?

I personally would have had Rey in the SES for at least a month, and then have them have another match to allow Rey to get out of the stable, and when he wins that, the 4 of them gang mug him, and then he can have his time off.

Tag match was what i expected. Done very well overall, with the Harts not looking as though they were better than JeriMiz, but also JeriMiz didn't come off like a well oiled tag team, instead they looked like 2 guys who keep winning the tag belts, assumed they'd win them again, and didn't, and that's exactly how i think it should have been done. Very impressed with the Harts. It was their first big match on PPV and i feel they met expectations very well.

I fell asleep during Orton/Edge, even before the body scissors, so i can't honestly comment. Apparently Orton's selling has vastly improved as everyone apparently thought he'd legitimately broken his arm, yet i see he's going to be at Fatal 4 Way, so he couldn't be that badly hurt. I think it's good that neither of them won, because it makes them seem equal in skill, and being in the title match next month, means the fued can continue on TV, but you can still get another 3 one-on-one matches out of these 2 guys on PPV before it starts getting stale.

Big Show/Swagger was done the only sensible way it could be done really. Swagger's offence only really suits him when facing guys smaller or of equal stature to him. Bigger guys are NOT going to be beaten with amature wrestling holds, especially when this particular SHW is Big Show. I think that having Swagger get his ass kicked for 5 minutes and then a DQ loss was the most sensible outcome, and this was probably the most sensible booking on the whole show. Yes he's losing to just about everyone, and no he shouldn't be, but should he be beating guys like Big Show in his 2nd or 3rd title defence? No, no he shouldn't. He'll win next month though. I bet SD's Fatal 4way will be Swagger, Big Show, Taker and someone else, and Taker and Show will beat each other senseless, while Swagger pins wrestler #4.

Divas match wasn't bad. Wondered why Eve was given the belt, and now i realsie it's because she can put on a half decent match, so well done to her. Maryse was just typical Maryse. Sloppy as hell, but oh so good to watch none the less.

And then we come to the 'I Quit Match'. Again, respect for Batista for shoving the doctor aside. I couldn't believe that Vince didn't say 'If one of you bleeds, we'll just ignore it' considering the reaction it got during Punk/Rey, you'd think he'd have the forethought not to bother with blood clean up in the ME match which is 'I Quit'. They should be fuckin' bleeding, it's a barbaric match for God's sake. Plus, kids know that people bleed. This isn't PG it's fuckin' kiddie wrestling if we're going to pretend that people don't bleed. Do they stop a football match if a guy gets a cut on his arm? No, they take him off and put someone else on, taking up 30 seconds tops. 2 minutes in the middle of a wrestling match is unnacceptable.

And ya know why John Cena's never quit? BEcause he's never made any moves look like they hurt, so why would he have quit?

One bicycle kick right at the end from Sheamus was pretty pointless as well, but hey, had to get him on there somehow right?

In terms of how enjoyable this PPV was, i'd probably give it a C+. I enjoyed the majority of the matches, i like that there were a couple of mid-card fueds on the PPV, because we need more of them imo, and the absence of HHH, Taker and HBK is what i attribute it too, and i hope it doesn;t all cease completely when they come back.

Honestly speaking, No PPV are intense now a days.

I was under the impression that Cena Vs Batista would take 'I Quit' match to new standards. Remember (Orton Vs Cena), it was good. But I like the ending in Over the limit. Sadly, that's the only part I like personally.

Come on guys, where are those hardcore, brutal hell in a cell, barb wire matches.

BRING IT ON!!:xmen:
