WWE One Night Stand: Waste?

Pre-Show Stalwart
WWE biggest PPV, Wrestlemania, is right around the corner, 3/30/08. After that we have Backlash 4/27, Judgement Day 5/18, ONS 6/1, and then Vengeance on 6/29.

One Night Stand is unique in that every match has a stipulation thrown on it. But, with only 2 weeks to set up matches, and then Vengeance only 4 weeks away, and I believe it is going to be the night of champions again, is there any reason for ONS?

I just bought tickets for ONS since it is in Southern California, for myself and younger cousin. He is happy cuz he can't wait to see the Undertaker. I, on the other hand, could kinda care less for this PPV. The original ONS with the ECW originals getting a PPV was so great! But, the last years , for lack of a better term, sucked ass. Again, ONS only had 2 weeks to set up matches after JD, and less then a month before Vengeance. It seems like all the matches are just thrown together, and would be better off just being a SNME. I think the idea of an all gimmick PPV is great, but if they just throw a PPV together, and it shows, why have the PPV at all. I think if they got rid of Judgement day, and added ONS instead, that way you keep the all gimmick PPV, and keep the 1 PPV per month, it would look better in the long run. ........ Any thoughts?

well, ive long said they should rearrange the PPV scheduleing. I think ONS is good, in that an all gimmick PPV is entertaining, and that Judgement day, should be gotten rid of, rplaced by ONS in may, so that the WM feuds can be ended in some crazy gimmick match. On that note KOR should replace both ONS AND Vengeance in the month of June. If ONS replaced Judgement day, it would get rid of the build problem you spoke of, as I said this would be the culminations of WM feuds.

I think this is what happen to the WWE as lost there transitions into new feuds with such things as KOTR and having 4 ppv in just over two months is over kill.
I like the idea of replacing Judgement Day with only ONS only. I think a little bit of the reason behind this has to do with the 6 week build up to WM after NWO.
They should use Vengeance as the start of the summer feuds that end at SummerSlam, basically split the ppv's into segments.

Royal Rumble, NWO build up WM
Backlash and ONS would build down from WM
Vengeance and GAB would build up to SummerSlam
Unforgiven and No Mercy build down SummerSlam and up for Survivor Series
Armageddon end all feuds before the new year.

Definately agree that ons is a bit pointless. Like Cyber sunday, its a good idea thats pretty unique, but i'd rather see it as a snme or maybe a supershow, not a ppv with just 2 weeks of buildup. I remember the 2007 one and was sitting there thinking to myself that this was the same all over again from two weeks ago. Make it a free show, or replace vengeance with this.

In my opinion, One Night Stand is a pretty good idea for a PPV. The fans want gimmick matches, and with a night filled with them, WWE can get alot of PPV buys. It's a very unique concept by the WWE, and in my opinion should stay. It's like Cyber Sunday, and Vengeance, some of the more original PPV's.

Now this goes back to the age long problem of WWE's PPV's. They have cut back a bit, but there is still way too many PPV's. I like the idea that they should completely take out Judgemnet Day, and in its spot put ONS. With that the opens up the PPV's for early summer, and they could easily slip KOTR in.

I like the concept of One Night Stand, as gimmick matches are very popular. I agree that there probably should be one more PPV cut out somewere. By the looks of the current schedule Judgement Day would be the leading candidate. It is foolish to have PPV's two weeks apart, I mean they both usually have similar matches, and that makes them less entertaining. Obviously the first One Night Stand was the best, but that was because of the violence. I would like it if all the matches were hardcore, but they will never to that again, so I guess having a gimmic in place for each match isn't that bad. Analysis, ONS stays, Judegement Day goes.

I really enjoy this pay per view cause the year JOHN CENA got boooooed out of the building was freaking awesome. What wwe needs to really do is put more time and effort into this PPV cause sometimes like last year they have a really really crappy ppv and have to make up for it.

Maybe wwe can start drifferent angles for this event just don't make it crappy!

I say get rid of it and just do the all gimmick matches thing at Cyber Sunday. Judgment Day has been a longer running PPV and should stay. If they had never relaunched ECW and kept ONS as a yearly ECW reunion show like they should have done, it would have fit in better.

Though last year's ONS wasn't as bad as some of the WCW Uncensored events, it wasn't all that great. A few decent matches, but also plenty of unmemorable ones. Just glad they didn't book a King of the Road match or a no dq match that ended in a dq.

All in all, I'd rather just see them take longer to build Vengeance than have a PPV inbetween to worry about. It's not like gimmick matches are rare these days anyway, we get cage matches and street fights on tv.
