Jericho vs. HHH going on last when no one cared after the other match.

Also you throw enough money at Austin and something tells me he could get over it.

they really werent THAT dead though. I just watched it. Hence my confusion.

Also, must add, The Rocks promo might have been the best promo of all time. Seriously.

17 on the other hand, I dont get how it is so lauded.

The whole show is very very good, two matches that are great. Sorta. Ive never been a big fan of the Austin Vs Rock match, but you all know that

I still love the turn at the end. I think Shocky and I (and I'm not sure if he does or not) are the only two people that liked it.

I think Shocky was one of the few, the proud, who agreed with me how shit it was and was a silly thing to do in the main event of Wrestle fucking Mania, for fuck sake

It changed everything and ended the Attitude Era. Now it being in Texas with the fans cheering Austin like he just invented free beer was a problem but they tried at least.

Would have had the same effect the next night on RAW or at Backlash during a rematch.

And you know, would have actually worked.

Rock was leaving to film a movie after the next night though. Had to be at Mania to set up the Two Man Power Trip.

then do it the next night. Plenty big enough audience to get the angle over, and actually have some venom toward Austin.

You dont use the fucking Main Event of Wrestlemania for something like THAT, I dont give a fuck

Um yea, a huge SHITTY moment, the kind of thing that happens at Max Overdrive or whatever shitty stupid PPV they would do something like that at.

Austin wins, but barely. His paranoia causes him to side with Mcmahon in the rematch to keep it. Easy.

You dont do a motherfucking heel turn in the fucking main event of wrestlemania. Think there is a reason it was only done one time?

I'm rewatching the Elimination Chamber PPV. McIntyre was all kinds of awesome in the chamber match even before the match when he was trash talking Kane and going ballistic in the chamber.

Am I the only person who found it ironic that they "ended" the Attitude Era (which was seemingly about sex and violence) by having Stone Cold Steve Austin (the top Attitude Era guy) win by repeatedly assaulting The Rock with a Steel Chair (basically an intensely VIOLENT way to win a match)?

I don't mind the Heel Turn, nor do I even mind them doing it at Mania. If Austin could get past Rock clean, why would he then side with McMahon to RETAIN? He proved he could do it once, no matter how hard it was to do it. They had Austin turn by hyping how Austin NEEDED the belt, and the match played out that he would only be able to win with McMahons help. The only problem was that once McMahon got involved, the match should have ended. He seemingly got involved and the match went for 5 more minutes.

Have the Rock getting close and closer, getting clean wins on RAW, etc etc. there are a thousand ways to make what I said work.

Its fucking wrestlemania in fucking Texas. Just let Austin win after a great, close match. So fucking simple its difficult, apparently.

but again, if Rock is unavailable after the following night, then the turn HAS to be done at Mania. No matter how close Rock would get with the clean wins, etc, if Austin beats him at Mania without help, there's no reason for him to enlist help for the REMATCH. If Austin loses to Rock, then he doesn't get another shot.

Oh believe me, I didn't think they should have turned Austin at all. The only thing was that if they were turning him (which they seemingly were dead set on doing), it had to be by aligning with McMahon, and had to be against Rock, which means Rock had to be available (which he wouldn't be after Mania). It was perfect storm of bad timing. Austin had to be a face going into Mania, and had to be heel by the next night.

Well you dont let a fucking perfect storm of bad timing dictate how you book the main event of wrestlemania. Fuck that.

Watching it again, the crowd was most certainley suffeciently into the ME of 18, its just the same as any other limb phsycology match. Dumb way to book it, since the storyline coming in have every bit of juice necessary to have it be a real knock down drag out, with two wrestlers who definately could have put on a show.

Just not a smart way to book this match. Typical WWE overkill though. In case you didnt know, Triple H recovered from a quad injury or something leading up to this match

The problem, with turning Austin heel was that he was still getting cheered no matter what. I mean the crowd at Mania loved it, and I would've had zero problem with that, it being in Texas, but for about 4 months, Austin was still getting cheered. He became the reverse Hogan almost. Where Hogan would play to the crowd as a face despite boo's, Austin played to the crowd as a heel and was getting cheers. His Alliance heel turn was better for me and that's truly when he became hated. It's also possibly a double turn as Angle really turned face that night too.

I didn't care for the heel turn at Mania. I don't hate on the match, but I do think it was quite over the top. If the same match happened in a bingo hall in Philadelphia, people would be lined up to shit all over it.

Far more well put than I ever could have.

This, in the fucking Main Event of Wrestlemania.

As I said, I think there is a reason it only went this way once.

Fuck that noise, that was the perfect ending to that match. It showed just how ruthless and vicious and psychotic Austin was willing to be to be the champion again, going so far as to form an alliance with a man who was once his greatest enemy in McMahon. The brutality of Austin just fucking destroying Rock with that chair put over the heel turn as good as it could be in the heart of Texas.

That match is amazing from every perspective...storyline, psychology, selling, the bumps they take, the finishing stretch and the incredible crowd. I was almost tempted to the full five stars last time I watched it.

That match and finish was NOTHING like an ECW match and finish either Shocky.

Fucking goodness, you WOULD say this :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Benoit's promo with Eddie at WM20 was pretty badass.

"I BELIVE IN ME!!! I BELIVE IN ME!!! I BELIVE IN ME AND THATS ALL THAT DAMN WELL MATTERS"

epic
