WWE 2011 Releases

After a little reasearch it comes to my attention that raw and smackdown combined you have a total of 53 male superstars. Not included in that list is Ricardo Rodriguez, Josh Matthews, and Matt Striker all 3 who can wrestler but aside from Rodriguez, who is wrestling in FCW as Chimaera, will probably not be in ring performers again.

Also in the list of 53 you have Edge, Mysterio, Kane, Triple H, and The Undertaker. Edge and Mysterio have contracts expiring within the next year. Kane has mentioned in some interviews that he has been looking into business ventures outside the WWE and his time may be coming to an end. Trips is ready to work full time backstage. The Undertaker i fully believe will stay long enough to go 20-0 at Wrestlemania and then will finally end his career.

So in looking at the roster and who is left when these guys go, your not gonna see a long list of releases. Those i can see going.....
R-Truth- he is never gonna get farther than he is and unless a heel turn is planned his gimmick is old and stale at this point
Alicia Fox- the queen of botched moves in the Divas Division (enough said)
Rosa Mendes- i just don't see her going anywhere in her career (though they did give Eve the title)
Heath Slater- Believe outside of the Corre/Nexus he will fizzle into nothing
JTG- I forget he even exists sometimes

outside of them leave it the same and do the one thing left to do at this point, end the brand split. Introduce a television title, and reintroduced the cruiserweight title. if these things don't happen then you might as well cut half the roster including
Primo
Yoshi Tatsu
Tyson Kidd
Evan Bourne
Trent Baretta
Zack Ryder
Curt Hawkins
Chavo Guerrero
etc...

There are some guys who are great to watch in the ring but its just known they will never be heavyweight champion. Honestly to believe that some one like Evan Bourne could become champ and be succesful with it and do it multiple times over is unrealistic. However to be the most succesful cruiserweight champ is something that could be possible. I guess time will tell at this point what will happen but that would be the route i go

I'm sorry soulfire, but Chavo isn't going to be cut. He's Eddie and Vickie's nephew, and has been with the WWE for almost 10 years. Sure he hasn't accomplished THAT much, but he's a solid entertainer. I think the WWE would rather just let his contract expire than release him.

But outside of him, Evan Bourne, Heath Slater, and R-truth, you have a pretty good point.

Add Barretta, Hawkins, Khali and Jackson Andrews to the list...

Also bear in mind that there is ALWAYS one high profile release each year that you don't expect... with Batista's this year. I think this year could see the end of... Randy Orton's tenure... The Viper gimmick is winding down, he is still over but is becoming increasingly one dimensional... Add to which his past may start to catch up with him. Guys like Anderson got canned on Orton's moaning about botches... yet this week he injured Punk in a massive blunder... sure it made for good TV but Orton could increasingly find it hard to keep his spot as guys like JoMo, Sheamus and Barrett rise. I can see him throwing his dummy ala Batista or asking for time off at the wrong moment.

Okay, this post was just asinine beyond belief.

Trent Barretta has been having great matches on WWE Superstars, he's very young, only 24 - 25 I think. He's still in FCW doing his Dudebuster gimmick, he has people in the company behind him, hence why he wasn't released with Croft. Barretta is marketable and his face stuff is much better than his heel stuff.

Then onto the second comment. Randy Orton's gimmick is "winding down"? Explain that to me. How can his gimmick be winding down when he's like 31 and still a top face in the company? Hes doing a movie for the studio, he's still in the main events, still has plans and yet his gimmick, of all things you could say is winding down?

I mean, if you had said at least that he has problems with his collarbone, then it would have made sense but I've never heard of a gimmick winding down.
