Dark Match Winner
I've often thought for a very long time, i wonder what kind of match and what kind of abilities Undertaker and Sting would have in a match together.
Both men have similar kinds of gimmicks and both never worked for the others company, so it brings me to think: if they had of had a feud could it have been a great one? could it have been up there in the ranks of one of the best feuds ever?

I personally think they could've done great things and had some great matches.
what is everyone elses opinion on this?

I think I touched upon this in another thread before... in my opinion? No. The build-up would be ridiculous. Picture it...

The lights go out. The crowd is restless in anticipation. Neither show up. The lights come back on...

That would be it. Part of Undertaker and Sting's shtick is making the lights go out, then come back on and they don't show up, or something paranormal happens, but how can something happen if neither men are present? It would have worked if it was American Bad Ass Undertaker vs. Sting, or pre-Crow-rip-off Sting vs. Phenom Undertaker.

Yes, halfway through your actual post i thought.
Maybe surfer sting vs American Bad Ass?
or American Badass vs Sting.

In the surfer context, Bad Ass could take extreme hatred towards his style or Sting could be heel and cover him in face paint and colours.
But Badass Vs Crow sting i could see as a very violent fued.

Yea... would be a great feud... there are like endless possibilities with what they could do for storyline, ie good vs "evil", phenom vs. icon, something where they both play mind games (because lets face it they probably are the best at playin mind games that the business has ever seen), etc. etc. Of course these days you have to wonder if some of the writers would even realize it.

I've thought about this long and hard. So much so that I have lost sleep over it. Okay not really but I still think of it alot. The build-up to this match would be in-fucking-sane and would live up to the hype alot better than Hogan vs. Sting. Sting could not be the heel in this match. The fans love him way too much. The fans love Undertaker alot too but he can work as a heel so well.

I think this is every Sting fan's dream matchup for him other than Sting vs. HBK. Which would be another insane match. I would definitly watch this match. I would probably watch it about a million fucking times.

Yes I woul;d watch this match and it could make a very good fued. The build-up would be good and I can see them playing mind games with each other in their dark side gimmicks.Or we could go biker vs. surfer with a fued because of their different staus quo's.Then again we could see Biker vs. Crow which could see some very violent match.Ethier way the match would be good too because both wrestlers have great wrestling abilities.Plus it would draw well which isn't my min concern but would go over well with promoters. So yes this a very good idea.

Both men have similar kinds of gimmicks and both never worked for the others company

This isn't quite true. Undertaker wrestled in WCW as Mean Mark Callous, as part of the Tag Team known as the Skyscrapers along with Dangerous Dan Spivey. Coincidentally, his last WCW match was actually against Sting, at a house show. (He lost)

However, with that being said, this was obviously prior to Mark Calloway becoming the Undertaker...Were this matchup to have occurred when both were in their primes, it would have been a good match...However, something like that would have to have culminated at Wrestlemania, and we know what the Undertaker's record there is...lol Undertaker would come out the eventual winner of the feud.

i think the two performers could have a hell of a match. even today. they are both know how to worka great match and if given the proper stage would tear the roof down. unfortunately, i do feel that the characters are too similar and therfore a successful storyline would be difficult, but the match its self would kick ass

This is one of the main reasons I was dissapionted Sting never came over to the WWE, I would have loved to have seen a fued with him and the Undertaker, it would have been amazing, Taker would have been The American Badass as well (which was my favourite Taker). I do think Undertaker would emerge as the eventual victor of this fued though because as mentioned above it wouldve culminated at WrestleMania.

I also love the idea of a Sting vs HBK fued, the victor would be less obvious in this one as well but for my money both guys would go 1 for 1 and then a controversial finish in an ironman match or something so that neither truly went over the other.

This thread makes me think of missed opportunites for us the fans.

I've always said that if Sting would have went to the WWE in 1991, Sting would have been the biggest star in the history of pro wrestling. Sting had more charisma than Hogan, Sting was big and jacked, Sting had a phenomenal gimmick and Sting was a good worker. If Sting would have went to WWE with Vince putting the promotional machine behind him, the sky would be the limit. If Sting would have faced the Undertaker in the early 90's, Sting would have went over eventually, as all faces typically do at the end of a feud. Imagine the many great matches they could have had, and the story that they could tell together. Now if we can get Sting one last run in WWE, that would be great. But Sting vs The Undertaker in the early 90's, would have been probably the greatest feud of all time. Just my opinion.

I think any feud between these guys would be nothing short of amazing. I personally think their promos and matches together would be absolutely phenomenal, no matter what gimmicks they were using. It would be like the mainstay of WWE vs. the mainstay of WCW, company vs. company (if they did it back then). Even if they did it today it would still work amazingly.

Put this into the realm of dream match that simply won't happen. I think any version of these guys, particularly Taker Post 97, would have been a damn good matchup. Even now at there age I think these two still have it, and I think the Undertaker has done nothing but get better with age. The quality of matches he is putting out now rivals some of the great "technical wrestlers" matches from their primes. Any combination you could figure, this feud would work and would draw well.

I think it is more one of those things where two promotions had similar looks of one of their athletes. Sting would be comparable to the Undertaker. I do not know of many people who would not want these two to go at it, character wise. Booker T and the Rock were comparable, and they had a good match and storyline together.

The build up to the match could be very good. Very dark. Very imaginary. It could also be very unrealistic and stupid.

The match I think would be great. Both are seasoned veterans. Undertaker would probably be the best in the match. And he can carry most people into a good match. He would not have to as much with Sting, Sting can do his own share in the ring. With them both now having a submission move, as well as a plethora of finishing moves, this match could go on and on for at least half an hour. It would be an incredible match at Wrestlemania...26?
