Worst Main Event in History?

PWInsider reports that numerous TNA sources indicate that the main event for the TNA World Heavyweight Title at tonight's Victory Road pay-per-view lasted only 1 minute and 28 seconds because of backstage concern over Jeff Hardy. Other speculation is that Sting wouldn't agree to wrestling a long match with Hardy if he was in bad condition. More details on what happened tonight should be coming out in the next few days.

For what it's worth, Jeff Hardy's court date on drug charges is next Monday, March 21st.

DEf had part to do with it

I am a believer in second chances. Everybody fails. Everybody fucks up. Unless you're a murderer or a serious criminal like a rapist or something, you deserve a second chance. Hardy has gotten chance, after chance after fucking chance. No way would Vince let this happen. I don't think the Holy Cena himself could pull this off and get away with it. TNA needs to grow a pair. Desmond Wolfe drives drunk and we haven't seen him since October. Yet Hardy has fucked up time and time again since then and they do nothing about it. GROW A PAIR TNA!!! He may be a draw but he isn't helping you at all. You're just getting 1.1s and around there.

This is an insult to everybody in that locker room and management should call a meeting- the whole roster, and Jeff Hardy is forced to apologize right before all of them and then I would definitely suspend, if not fire his ass.

You have a lot of talent in the back I would consider main event worthy- A.J., Wolfe if he ever returns, Pope, Joe, Roode, Kazarian, Doug Williams (Personal choice, sorry, I can't help it) Super Mex, Angle- some of these guys have been champs before. I am not so sure if I consider Storm main event material and for the life of me can't understand what people see in Matt Morgan. Hell, at this point, I'd rather see Bully Ray in the main event than a fuckup like Hardy. At least Bully Ray is an entertaining character.

I have a bunch of names I just listed that I think would make fine main eventers and they're being used lower on the card in favor of this clown? Seriously TNA? I mean I know three of the four members of Fortune are holding gold but also three of those four members are main event worthy in my eyes. A thread was created to pick seven guys for the main event, I chose everyone in Fortune but Storm. I mean I heard a rumor you are going to focus on 'younger' talent like Fortune. Putting the belt on a 51 year old man and having him beat a guy in joke-like fashion in back to back matches is quite a clusterfuck if you ask me. I understand Sting's frustration and didn't deserve this.

Good thing I stream instead of buy. I know it's not your fault Hardy got stoned but the way you handled it and if you don't discipline Hardy, this is why no one is taking you seriously. Hornswoggle vs. Santino for the WWE Championship could be the main event of Wrestlemania 28 and I think people would still take WWE more serious than you. I'm so pissed.

***Memo to the following people***
AJ Styles, MCMG, Beer Money. GO TO WWE!!! TNA pretty much has committed company suicide. They really have. I have so many opinions of what just happened and NONE of them are good. Look, you're taking young talent and basically saying "F-you" for people like Matt Hardy, Jeff Hardy and so on. These guys are loyal to a company that can't even be loyal to its fans, let alone its employees. Please, I know Vince may not have much of a tag team division, but guys, you may never get an opportunity to be stars, especially in TNA.

Sidenote: I wanna see how they explain this come Thursday or will they just brush it under the rug?

Obviously they didn't just "let him go out there" based on the way the match went down. Wasn't like they expected him to go put on a good match. They cut their losses and got out of there. I'm not saying you're wrong because I'd have definitely scrambled and had an impromptu Sting/AJ or Sting/RVD/Anderson match to try and salvage the night. But we don't know what was going on backstage or with management. You might have a situation where the roster let TNA pay for its mistake with Hardy and refused to help out.

Sometimes I think you guys really overrate the level of power Bischoff and Hogan TRULY have in TNA and confuse their on-screen roles and WCW past with the reality of today. We have no idea what responsibility they've really been given. We know Bischoff was named an executive producer but that job has much more to do with the technical side of television and not the creative.

fair point, but if not Bischoff then who ? Dixie ? Russo ? It had to be someones call to put him out there and not change the match. Its hard for me to believe its not one of the 3 people i just mentioned and frankly it doesnt matter who. Its just the fact that it happened and someone should be held accountable for letting him go out there. If Sting ended it early on his own then kudos to Sting, well done

I've read more than one comment in this thread that eludes to Hardy being stoned on marijuana. I highly doubt Jeff's issues stem from being a pot smoker. This man is a junkie, and that's a label pot smokers shouldn't be stamped with. Crystal meth and cocaine are light years beyond marijuana...

I agree. First off, more guys they you can possibly imagine in the wrestling industry smoke marijuana (from the up and coming to the Legends) and you would be surprised how many guys preform high; whether it be on pain medication (legal and illegal and/or high on marijuana).

Hardy shows the signs of someone in a K-hole almost; meaning doing Special K which is basically a Horse Tranquilizer or possibly on some heavy dosage of really hard to get pain killers (like Morphine).

It's rather a shame though. I have watched TNA on and off since it's conception on PPV all them years ago. I was actually really enjoying the product and show overall, but if they are going to end PPVs like this it makes me question what they really care about at the end of the day.

**WWE's Drug Policy when it comes to smoking marijuana is a $500 fine if you test positive when they do administer their drug tests. Most guys just don't care enough to quit or hide it and just pay the fine.**

It wouldve made a LOT more sense for Bischoff to come out before the Anderson/RVD match and announce a three way for the title.

All I can say is that's a lot of people viewing this thread, 772 people. 716 of them are guests, why don't you guys join and post aswell :)

My thoughts on this are if this was indeed a result on Jeff Hardy being stoned and not able to compete then we shouldn't be too harsh on Dixie Carter and if we should be pissed off with anyone, we should be pissed off with Jeff Hardy for being irresponsible when he knows he has a main event to wrestle. TNA are going to have to take a hard look at Jeff Hardy and his spot on the TNA roster food chain, so to speak.

Dixie didn't put the bong on Jeff's lips, Jeff put the bong on Jeff's lips.

You are right. Jeff is responsible for Jeff's actions but Dixie's management has to be quicker and smarter to resolve these issues.

Did they know Jeff could barely move to begin with? If so, they should have made the No Count out issue into a Triple Threat Title match and maybe thrown a Generation Me vs. MCMG #1 Contenders match on the PPV (using an example of talent to be used). They finished the PPV an hour early, and from what I was reading, there were a few Jarrett-Angle angles going on.

When Bischoff came out, obviously they knew, so they could have made it a Triple Threat. Anderson vs. Sting vs. RVD. How to get rid of Jeff, throw him into a table, etc. Its not hard. Its just lazy decision work from the people in the back.

everyone smokes weed, he had to have been fucked up on something a lot more serious than weed to not be able to compete in the main event of a pay per view.

as a proud TNA basher, i would love to come in here and say i told you so, but this is really sad. not just for jeff hardy the PERSON, but for the company in general. this is embarassing beyond words. did EVERY match tonight end in some kind of bull shit?

1. main event was a minute long because of a drugged up loser
2. the #1 contender match ended in a double count out
3. at least a couple matches ended in some kind of interference
4. one match ended after FAKE BLOOD was SPRAYED on someone

are you fucking kidding me? i cant fathom how some of you can defend TNA, even before this pay per view happened. they MIGHT have ONE match that ends cleanly per week.

youth movement or not for the WWE, TNA will NEVER, EVER compete.

TNA fucking sucks.

If it is true Hardy was stoned (which I'm pretty sure it is) than he should be fired Simple and an easy decision for any professional in the business world (not just wrestling) to make If he is not, than the little respect I had left for TNA is completely out the window. As consumers (which we all are) this is insulting ESPECIALLY IF YOU ACTUALLY ARE A LOYAL FAN OF TNA. This is NOT how you repay your fanbase who has supported you through thick and thin.

It also says how little Hardy cares about the fans. As a performer, you strive your best every single night to send the fans home happy. Anything less than that is unacceptable. And sadly if this is Hardy's best, it's simply not anywhere close to being good enough.

This is the sort of crap you pull on TV for shock value. This is not the sort of crap you do for the main event match of a PPV that people paid good money for.

If one of them is injured or can't compete for whatever reason, you re-book the match and give the fans something else. You don't give the fans a 3 move match like what they just did.

I have no idea what happened, but this is just about the worst thing I have ever had the misfortune of seeing. This is no way to sell your company and get PPV buys for the next event. Somebody should be losing their job over this.

I hope you remember this the next time TNA has another PPV.

Some people are bashing the rest of the card, and besides Hernandez VS Morgan (Would have been better if Hernandez had sprayed Morgan's face or had a razor or something) the rest of the card was much better than any WWE or TNA PPV in recent memory. I really hope that we get a follow up on this from a reliable source.

I'm well aware of the pot and pain pill issues in pro wrestling. Several years ago RVD and Sabu were arrested in my home town for possession (of pills and mary jane if memory serves).

I know a thing or two about pain medication as well, as I've been prescribed MANY different kinds over the years. I am a former athlete (football player) who deals with a destroyed knee and royally screwed up back. With that being said, I feel that Jeff is showing signs of an oxycodone/oxycontin/roxicet addiction. I also know that oxycodone is THE drug of choice in WV, KY, the carolinas and florida. Jeff is from the carolinas and spends plenty of time in florida, thus making oxycodone well within the realm of possibility. Doctors in florida hand out 30mg roxicet like it's tic tacs. Jeff could go to one of the THOUSANDS of pill mills and get his meds filled at any Walgreens in the state.

This is a shame...

I know this is way off topic, but what is the deal lately with all the Tag Teams looking to break up. Gen Me. Ink Inc? MMC has been gone for awile now. Looks like Hardy is only part of their problem now.

Who here wants to make a bet that Dixie Carter's next tweet will be something along the lines of
"Solid PPV and main event that stole the show. Expect big surprises next week."

Sometimes I think that woman is so delusional it's scary.

I'm glad the match was over quickly. SO sick of Jeff Hardy. In another couple of years he will end up like Jake the Snake was.

Am i the only one who thinks that this is planned? controversy creates cash, as bischoff would say. now, will this screw over tna, yeah, but bischoff has done it before with the fpod.

people keeps saying that hardy keeps fucking up, but the last time people said he was high, he turned out to just be exhausted. im not a hardy mark, but you guys just automatically think that its always jeff being high. maybe thats the point of the main event. maybe they will delve more into jeff's problems. maybe its part of a storyline. i think that way because if they knew hardy was high, they could easily replace him. after sting took out jeff, bischoff could have made it a triple threat with rvd and anderson, or something along those lines. we'll find out more, but IF hardy was high, then he should be immediately fired. it is absolut bullshit to do this to the company, the fans, and ever wrestler who makes the tna name mean something.

Damn I'm dissapointed. I should've just used the money to pump some gas into my car (prices going up mayn). I hope right now as I type 4tune the originals the ones that bust their ass for the company are kicking jeff hary's ass. More then likely jeff was high, he prob was taking a few hits out off the bong with RVD "pass the chronic dude."

Good point. However, it was Dixie Carter who hired Jeff Hardy despite his known drug issues. The buck stops at the top.

i wish nothing but failure for tna. not out of spite. but because their existence alone is hurting the business. close it down....please.

Normally I'm the last guy to pass judgement, but sometimes a spade is a spade. TNA has been guilty of airing some extremely horrible story content, but the chances of them using Jeff's real life drug issues as a storyline are slim to none. I doubt Sting, a religious man by many accounts, would go along with this even if it was a storyline.

I'd be willing to bet that tonight's issues stem from Hardy being sedated to an extreme degree.

Not trying to say I know Sting all like that, because I don't, but Sting's a traditional kinda guy to a certain degree, and I highly doubt Sting would go through with something like this, knowing what happened in WCW. Also, from what I gathered, Sting wasn't all too happy anyway, so no, I don't believe this was some "work" or whatever. TNA from the top down to Jeff Hardy totally pissed on their fans. Period, point blank.

You know what I love, not one person is defending the main event.

I first noticed something was wrong with Hardy in his entrance. First, he took a good 20 second's to come out, then he came out staggering and stumbling up the stair's.

Then, Bischoff randomly comes out and announces a NO DQ match, but that did'nt do jackshit for the match.

Seriously, if you a TNA lover, I can't see how you can praise or even defend what happened tonight.

If Jeff Hardy was intoxicated or something to that extent, you don't let him wrestle. PERIOD! It's a shit way to end a PPV. Seriously, it's just depressing and downright sad to see a company let a guy wrestle while on drugs.

Do you think Vince McMahon would allow this to happen. HELL NO!

Oh, and TNA, it's possible to, you know, make it a threeway match with the Anderson and RVD who's match did'nt have a winner. Hell, I'll be a better booker than TNA. It's ridiculous!

Just a terrible day for a wrestling business who's striving to get big. This is not good publicity, it's a shame, a joke!

TNA should fire that junkie's ass right now! He's just a bad egg, a cockroach, somebody you don't want. He's not helping but hurting you company.

Bischoff, Hogan, Dixie, and Russo. Get you head's out of your asses! The guy's is a junkie who has some serious problem's. It's time to either fire him, get a drug policy, or just burn in flames. The company is going no where but down if this shit keep's up.

What. The. Fuck.

Now I've never been a fan of TNA, but even I expected from them than this. Seriously, how the fucking hell am I supposed to take a company seriously after this? How? HOW? This is... this goes beyond Russo stupidity when it comes to booking. this is... oh good GOD this so stupid its fucking unholy, and I am not a religious man!

I live in Canada and was going to order the ppv tonight, but due to a glitch in the cable box that we have it wouldnt let Me order it. If I had ordered it, I would have paid $34.99 plus taxes (which I am sure would have added upto just over $40). After reading the ppv results here on Wrestle Zone, I'm really glad that I was not able to order it because I would have been wasting money that I could have spent on something else ............ sounds like a pretty crappy ppv all around, glad I was spared from seeing it :disappointed:
