William.

None of those things have anything to do with what I've been talking about though Norcal. Hart thought he was better then everyone else. By definition, that makes him an egomaniac in my book.

So how is that "protecting the business"? If Hart was such a stand up guy, why didn't he just agree to do the job and y'know BE THE BIGGER MAN, instead of resorting to HBK's level? It doesn't matter who he was facing, he should have agreed to do the job. It's common courtesy to the promoter that you job on your way out, and refusing to do so left Vince with very little options.

I'm not denying HBK was a prick or anything, but let's not praise Hart for doing the same exact thing HBK did like Hart was doing it for the greater good. No, it was petty and meant to say "Fuck You" to HBK, which wasn't professional.

But, do we really wanna turn this thread into the 12 billionth Montreal discussion mang?

And Milenko, not giving the audience the Bret-HBK match they had been teasing for so long would've been a huge fuck-you to the fans.

1. he was better than everyone else. if you were the best at something, you wouldnt say it? He stood up for the rest of the locker room on a regular basis. Thats not an egomaniac. thats a traditionalist, who is the best at what he does.

2. he was protecting the buisness, becuase he felt Shawn was disrespecting the buisness, and he wouldnt stand for it. He said Shawn wouldnt treat him, or anyone else that way, EVER.

For such a traditionalist, he broke one of the cardinal rules of wrestling. When you leave a promotion, you do the job. End of story, no if's ands or buts.

And I also wouldn't call Hart the best wrestler of all time. Harley Race was far superior among others.

That's NOT protecting the business, that's stooping to HBK's level. How is not helping your company protecting the business? He should have done the job man, end of story. But no, he had to let the fact that HBK was an asshole stop him from handing him the belt. Thinking your integrity is more important then your company's wellbeing = being a douche. I don't care if Shawn took a shit on the Hart family dog, Bret should've done the job.

Seriously, if Bret wanted to prove he was really better then Shawn and a "stand up" for the business, wouldn't a better way of doing that have been showing that you're a professional and wouldn't let personal shit get in the way?

Didn't he have creative control in his contract? Yeah, it was his call if so.

Oh, and Hulk ftw for next year.

They should have made it a triple threat match and have the other guy win at SS. Shawn comes out the next night saying he didn't get pinned and demandsa title shot. He gets it and wins, Shawn is still Champion

that is were we disagree. if I was told to shoot a child in the face for nothing, i wouldnt fucking do it. A mand integrity, and the integrity of the buisness come first man. and no, he wouldnt be helping the company, becuase it wouldve been allowing Shawn to get away with it.

X, I also dont get what this has to do with Bret hart beating Edge to wint he WZ tourney.

nothing, far as I know. I feel he did the right thing. you feel he did the wrong thing. He still couldve "put the other guy over on the way out"...he still had weeks and weeks left on his contract.

cool thread KB. only problem being, it wasnt Hulks fault. he had agreed to put Hart over for SummerSlam 93, but he and Vince got into a tiff, and so Vince pulled it, and had Hogan get squashed at KOR 93 for his troubles. and the rest is history

Gotta give sNorks an echo on both these points.
A. This has fuck all to do with who would win in a wrestling match between Edge and Bret, and B. I've always felt Bret was in the right in what he did and the "Screw-job" was just as the name implies.

That would've been the greatest match of all time. It really sucks it didn't happen.
