And as KB said, adults generally know what they want, and can choose who they have. Children know nothing about sex, and bringing it into contact with them at such a young age is wrong.

Obviously I am not in any way going to condone an adult having sex with a child. I am merely saying that the people probably shouldnt be persecuted for merely having the attarctions, if they cant help it. at the same time, an adult should know better than to let thos ehtings get out of control and actually take the step of having a sexual contact with a child. WHile this may be the case, try convincing the parent of a child of this argument. As right or wrong as it may be, it'll never fly with them.

I agree kind of. But the fact is people will always be a hell of a lot more cautious when their child is around someone who finds them sexually attractive. They should know better, yes. But what if they don't? I would never take the chance of saying 'they know better'.

It's a mental illness, and I'm assuming that most of the people with it don't do anything about it and would like nothing more than for those thoughs to go away. But they can never really tell anybody about it because of peoples preconceived opinions on them.

They should. But going to a doctor with a regual mental ilness is hard enough as it is. And to most people it's not recognized as such, probably even to most doctors. I doubt the typical medicine would do anything anyway. I wouldn't be surprised if there's no such medication at all for them.

Pretty much if you tell somebody you're designated to be a freak who nobody will understand. Or if they do understand they probably won't be able to do anything for you.

well if you go off of the basic word definition it means Child Lover, that could mean that they love children in the same way that people can be Franophiles or Bibliophiles. It is the connotations that the term has gotten over the years that make it bad. however if they act on the impulse to take it further than any adult has the right to go with a child then they deserve castration.

My only issue with the doctor aspect is that all that's being done is supressing it. It's the same thing as an alcoholic or a drug addict. If you supress it, then it's a much lesser issue. But what happens if you can't supress it any longer and lose control? The first young child you find attractive you have to have, and you do so. That's where it falls apart for me.

I'm pretty sure, at least over here, that the only way you can get help for it is if you actually do harm a child...which is all kinds of messed up, and it's very hard to find treatment that actually works for it. Horrible stuff.

I know it's controversial and shouldn't happen, but I'd much rather have a paedophile looking at child pornography on the internet than being out on the streets chasing children around or luring them through the internet. There's no difference between someone who looks up animal or gay porn, and someone who looks up child porn. The paedophiles who can't help but be tempted to look it up are no different to anyone who wants to look up porn; they can't help that they have desires and are trying to temper them in the least dangerous of ways. They aren't the ones out there taking the photos/videos, so as long as it's on the internet, they'll find it.
