Using The Bible to Argue Against Gay Rights is a Crock.

While I agree with NorCal regarding the nature of the Bible, I think that this is still a valid discussion to have mainly because there are some very loud minorities out there that would use the Bible and other religious texts to deter, demean and even kill others for not having the same beliefs/interpretation as others.

Personally, I am as unbelieving as it gets when it comes to religion but I am more than able to use religious texts to further my understanding of history. Also because of the part of the world I live in and the people I have had to deal with, I feel that I need to be able to counter their 'arguments' by reading their texts, hence why I have several different Bible translations and a copy of the Quran.

There is a great feeling that comes with shocking a Christian bigot who has ridiculed you by being able to quote their own scriptures to counter their narrow-minded view of the world.

It almost feels like you are doing a public service.

Marriage is a commitment between two people. Anyone who goes into a field and says I do is technically married in my opinion. The problem people have is that they don't want to be excluded. I could give a shit what the state thinks. So I can't marry a sheep according to the state. If I really love the sheep and say I do, thats it. Not to say I love a sheep or anything I just think about marriage like that. Its just a deep commitment between two people.

The real problem happened back in the 80's in hospitals when ignorant ********ers wouldn't allow partners to be with each other as they died, basically when the died from aids. It happened alot back then. Because they weren't family they couldn't go in. I don't care if someone is dying and they want their fucking cat in the room, make it happen. To deny someone who is sick and near death anything is an abomination in my eyes, and I think Jesus would agree. Even if Jesus turned around and said they are not getting upstairs they should be able to be with them at the end.

Law has nothing to do with Religion anymore (Im pretty sure theres a law saying that in your country, dunno about mine :S) Let them get married under the legal definition, no one is forcing the church to adhere.

The "problem is that the "religious fanatics" are the ones who are the oppressors. They're in office and, not sure about lobbying, have widespread (kinda) support that are ignorant sheep.

As for my two cents: I have no problem with anyone cuz of their lifestyle -- it ain't harming me and I'm not being biased.
<_<
>_>

Anyways, it all comes down to personal beliefs, which religion AND morality fall under. Makes me seriously consider revising "Separation of Church and State" to what it really is.

As for the OP (I'm using a PS3, so I can't multitask to go back and check while typing), it depends on which translation you use. I'd follow the translation closest to the original text (and I laugh at the fucking moron who considers the KJV the REAL one).

I can't continue any longer since I'm limited on how much I can type on a PS3.
