Who did the WWE give up on too early?

I think it's safe to say that every single star the WWE ever released, they gave up on too early lol but if we are looking at specifics, I don't know if we will find that one specific star that would've been the "breakout" star had he not been released.

I think Sean O'Haire's promos for SmackDown, when he was in a suit and evil, were genius. When it came time to get it done in the ring, however, the WWE completely screwed him over. He did not resemble his character nor was he even given the chance. O'Haire had the best gimmick, and could've easily been a manager for someone with it, and he was phased out and let go. But this is the O'Haire mark talking in me.

I am also a Steven Richards mark, and it has been my opinion that Richards has never gotten a true chance to shine like he should. I could never understand why he wasn't taken seriously or utilized seriously (save the entire RTC idea, which was great, btw!). Richards could have easily become a solid Tag Team Champion (with Venis or even O'Haire -- the idea for a stable full of guy sin suits running wild and promoting sin?! Fuck yeah!) and IC title contender with the proper build-up. And this leads into a segway for Val Venis, who has seemingly been abandoned as well. Who remembers the days when Val was the Intercontinental Champion and was going somewhere? Or the days of Chief Morely, and legitimate talent and skill? And yet what does he do now?

It sickens me.

I suppose the argument can be made that all three of those men had their chances -- but a counterpoint, and an easy one, is the likes of Mark Henry who have been under contract what, twelve years, and have had multiple chances? I have a personal hatred for Henry that I cannot honestly explain. I understand the penchant for "Big Men," and Vince's obsession with them, but I just cannot watch Mark Henry on my TV.

I think it's also worth mentioning that they gave up on the Mordecai character too early, though I believe that was a decision made by Fertig himself and not the WWE (correct me if I am wrong). Though I also understand the decision behind that: he was a little too much like Undertaker, and the fans did not buy into it, if I recall. I personally loved the whole thing, but again, I am probably biased towards stuff.

And Raven is spot on, also. Scott Levy easily has the greatest mind for this business, and the sad thing is Vince knows it. When Levy worked for the WWE during his time there as Johnny Polo, he ran shit backstage. And he ran it well. He was buddy-buddy with Shane O-Mac. But I guess that was then and that was later on. I honestly believe with the right build-up and opposition Raven could've easily been IC Champ also, if not eventually World Champion. But then again, the Raven character is not suited for a place like the WWE. He would've survived, but the tweaks I believe they would've made would have been detrimental and woud've eventually led to the destruction of the character.

Raven.

He is so good on the stick, He is almost poetic, His voice made you shut up and listen, He never pulled a promo that didn't fit with the angle, He was also brilliant in the ring, His move's were always well thought out, And very impactful, He oozed charisma in every sense of the word, He was a damn near perfect package. He just didn't find a niche for his character though, That was his only down fall in the WWE, And for those reasons I believe he was wasted.

Farooq. During the Attitude Era, he was just past his physical prime but was still a great asset. He was big, strong, had the moveset, and was a legit athlete having been an all-american football player, and had the legacy from WCW even though that would never be mentioned. I donm't mean that he could have been World Champion, but he could have had some interesting matches with HHH or Austin. Instead he was put into what became the APA after being thrown out of the Nation. The Acolytes were a good team, but I've always felt that Farooq could have had good success as a singles wrestler. With a move like the Dominator, how could he not have been seen as a bad ass?

i think they gave up on Kozlov way to fast. I mean they push him to the moon only to hae Edge come back out of nowhere to win the belt back and now Kozlov isnt even in the title picture and he should be cause nobody has touched him one on one. Plus being that he is russian gives him great heel heat automatically. I don't get why wwe would bury Edge with taker to only bring him back and give him the belt right away. Absolute garbage Edge is the most unentertaining maineventer in the WWE.

I'd hardly say they've given up on Kozlov. He's just too young and not ready for that level yet. He'll destroy Matt Hardy and take the ECW title likely at the Rumble or Armageddon and run that place for a few months, then get brought back up to SD or Raw. The only problem with Kozlov is that his gimmick isn't really one that can work long term. Once he's been beaten a few times, his aura dies a bit. They haven't given up on him, they're just seasoning him a bit which is waht ECW is tailor made for.

I think they gave up on Burke and Kenny Dykstra too quick. Like JR said Kenny has alot of potential to be something in the wrestling business. He was probably better than alot of WWE's talent. If they didnt like the way he was going they should have put him in FCW

I agree with KB on this one. Kozlov still hasa long career ahead of him. ECW is a place where he can shine. I think we'll see him destroy Matt Hardy in the near future, then hold the title until Wrestlemania where Bourne will likely take it from him.

And you can't say they've given up on somebody who has never, ever been pinned or made to submit.

Christy Hemme! She was just improving and adapting to WWE, then she got released, i mean common she was a great DIVA. She was a pushover, she learnt how to fight, she wasnt in it for the looks, she was in it for the wrestling. Lita did a great job with her personally, and hopefully she'll leave TNA and come to WWE!

WWE must of found somethng they disliked about them to release them both. I'm sure WWE had perfectly good reasons to why they off loaded some "extra baggage". Dykstra had zero potential, he was in the ring a few times only to job and he did'nt have any noticeable mic skills. Elijah Burke was much the same although he did do more then Dykstra. Burke was a decent wrestler and did get pushed, his only problem was that he was injured and subsequently out for a long time. In pro wrestling you just can't have years off and still expect to be working for the company.
