well i will address linda's distancing tactic first. Regardless of the fact her husbandwas WWE chairman and may be the CEO now of WWE she was the CEO for many years of WWE and more then just a figure head. She was there long enough, if not STILL, to not be entitled to the "that's their business over theres not mines" defense.
As far as the performers being grown wo/men turning 18 doesn't mean every action or choice is a hundred percent on you. They do need to buy their own insurance policies if they make enough but how do you know a pro wrestler isn't blackballed as high risk by insurers?
They knew a while before WWE came calling WWE had a work rate that was rough on ones body. At the same time there is a cause and effect relationship LONGGG established.
People in this thread keep going back to the wrestlers no whats up. I think with that type of insensitive attitude towards them their ONLY line of defense left IS TO UNITED in union formation, perhaps strike. Don't join a union but at least the wrestlers need to as wrestlers WHO WRESTLE and know about the stresses have some solidarity. a person with intelligence would no a brief strike or push back against WWE would in the long run aid everyone. I only fault them for not comprehending that and being worried about the here and now. I feel that's very child like.
Thats all they can do is speak out though all at once. What would mcmahon do then? what would you all championing responsibility do when the wrestlers united, start looking out for each other and monday and friday nights go black for 2 hours?
P.S. As far as Flair, Nash, HBK, H3, Hall, etc are concerned you know how much leverage they have? They all reach a point in their respective careers where management and the brass simply could not control them. They set their own rules, and obviously they used the power to go easy on themselves and get some rest. Why would rogue workers with their own source of power and countless aces up their sleeves work themselves to death or dope?! That was a horrible example Zur En Arrh..
As far as the '80s is concerned who cares? Thewrestlers were to scared and childish to look out for themselves and each other too. No one should respect that. The promoters just don't get the westlers, even the exwrestlers turned promoters seem to not get the wrestlers anymore..
