FalKon's Conspiracy Theories: Lance Cade's Push

Viola Moonlight

I'm Literally Just Here for WZCW
I'm feeling a little suspicious today and somehow got to thinking about Lance Cade. Not really the sort of subject a man likes to admit that when their bored they think of men, but let's get on with it.

Before Lance Cade was released with the WWE, he was alongside Chris Jericho as the protege in a strictly business relationship. Jericho offered his expertise and knowledge to Cade, whilst Lance did everything he could to aid Jericho in his career. Lance was getting some great exposure alongside Jericho and the two together looked like a cohesive unit. Then, something happened to Cade and he got released from the company... I believe he suffered a seizure on a flight... and the pairing was cut before anything really could be established.

Now, what happened to Chris Jericho after Lance Cade? Well, he kept on keeping on and eventually won the Unified Tag Team Championships. Considering all factors, Jericho winning the belts was done for a pure business perspective only... nothing really to do with Chris Jericho wanting to win the belts in the kayfabe. Why would a solo wrestler just decide he wants to win a championship with someone who he has little to no relation to other than being heels and Canadian? Wouldn't it make sense if he challenged for the titles alongside someone he trusted and worked with, someone who has undying loyalty and respect?

My conspiracy theory:

Lance Cade was supposed to win the Unified Tag Team Championships alongside Chris Jericho.

Lance Cade had been around in the WWE for a while proving his worth enough to get the push and re-package with Jericho. Obviously something was going to happen from this and a run with the Tag Team Championships would have been the way to go. Cade has the looks, the wrestling ability, the knowledge and the mic skills to become a star within the WWE. I could picture seeing Lance Cade contending for one of the World Titles. The pieces of the puzzle can be assembled to see Jericho and Cade as the champions, eventually breaking up and feuding with each other, possibly cultimating to a match at this year's WrestleMania or some other PPV to attempt to launch Lance Cade into the bigtime.

Do you agree with my statement? Would you have liked to see this happen? Could you see Lance Cade as being relevant? Would he have succeeded on his side of the push?

My first thought is: Who cares? It was almost two years ago that Cade was let go by the WWE, and the angle with Jericho barely got off the ground before his release.

However, since you asked, perhaps they were intended to win the title. They would have made an interesting team, and the inevitable post-breakup feud would have invariably elevated Cade toward main-event status. However, Cade's in-flight drama prevented that from ever happening. At this point, his career is basically dead in the water. Meanwhile, Jericho remains one of the absolute best in the industry.

All of this aside, I don't see how this even remotely constitutes a "conspiracy theory" -- though that's a different question entirely.

Lance Cade made Lance Storm look like the life of the party. Why he ever got pushed was just weird. Another person I couldn't understand why they were ever pushed was Kenny Dykstra. I think Vince owed his dad money or something when they kept him after The Squad (yes, I said The Squad) broke up.

Do you really think the WWE plans THAT far ahead?

It seems like you are stretching this thing insanely far. Cade had been gone for about a year whenever Jericho won the world tag team title. If the plan all along was to keep the tag titles seperate and meaningless for months on top of months, then unify them in a dark match at WrestleMania, put them on the Colons, then have Jericho and Cade beat them, in turn, breaking them up, then I'd say they were able to accomplish this just fine without Lance Cade's involvement. If Lance Cade were still around, Carlito would still be a face! HOLY SHIT! This is crazy stuff! You've figured out this mass conspiracy!

Seriously, it seems like, up until JeriShow's long reign with the tag titles, that they basically made shit up as they went along in the tag division. I don't think Jericho and Edge winning the titles was the result of some plan from a fucking YEAR earlier involving Jericho and Cade. I think it was a last minute decision because the Colons weren't the slightest bit over and they had other plans in mind for Legacy.

Wow, dude....just trying to take in all this information....ok got it, I reckon you are spot on about WWE trying to set up Cade for a major push. But I also think your dead wrong about everything else. Like what the Mizard of Oz said, WWE do not plan that far ahead and if your plan was true they would not of kept Jericho and Cade as a tag team for over a year before winning the titles. The straps got put on Jericho and Edge because those two had both just finished storylines and had nothing going on and the tag team devision was on what Call Of Duty calls it "Last Stand" and this was a last chance effort by WWE to save it (no pun intended by Jerichos Save Me thing). So WWE pretty much killed two stones with one Suburu WRX. P.S. sorry for leaving the topic please do not eat my soul!

I am glad Lance cade got released. He was a bad wrestler, terrrible on the mic and to be perfectly honest was pointless in the Shawn Michaels vs Jericho stroyline. Him interfering in everyone of Jericho matches also got very repititive. Bt of course the WWE has hired him back.

You guys do know that Lance Cade has since been resigned by WWE and is training in FCW and waiting to re debut?

However to stay on topic, I totally disagree.

Cade Sucks. i dont think hes good on the mic, hes a good in ring worker but nothing he does stand out or wows me. I have more charisma than Cade and im anti social and barely get out. Hes a joke

I dont think, like many have stated, that WWE planed a year ahead. I think Cade was paired with Jericho to hopefully breathe life into his character(if he ever had one) and hopefully he could learn a thing or two from the master Y2J. Apparently he didnt.

Interesting to see what Cades role will be if he ever makes it back to RAW or SD. I believe hes just waiting to be assignd a role. Hes on their payroll.

Absolutely no chance. There's so many things that happened between Cade's release and I sincerely doubt that the WWE plan anything beyond WrestleMania until the months immediately before it. Jericho was still the World Heavyweight Champion, they didn't even have the undisputed championships. They gave those titles to Edge and Jericho so that they could split them up down the line and turn Edge face, that was clear when they won them, and that obviously wouldn't have worked with Cade. I don't know where they were going with Cade, but it certainly wasn't here.

My conspiracy theory:

Lance Cade was supposed to win the Unified Tag Team Championships alongside Chris Jericho.

Hmmm.... interesting theory, Falkon....

Do you agree with my statement? Would you have liked to see this happen? Could you see Lance Cade as being relevant? Would he have succeeded on his side of the push?

I think it's possible. I would have liked to see this happen because then the Colons would have a good team to feud with earlier on after winning the belts....assuming everything still plays out roughly the same way it did in real life, only Cade sticks around. I was never a fan of Cade's but it would have been pretty interesting to see where this team would go and how long Cade as Jericho's underling would have lasted before inevitably turning face and going off on his own.

They had some type of large push planned for Cade back then where he was going to be Jericho's onscreen protege. I'll run a "what if" scenario assuming that Cade never got released. Everything would probably have played out roughly the same in 2008 and the first quarter of 2009, with the only thing being different would be that Cade would have remained Jericho's sidekick for a while. Cade could have assisted Jericho in defeating the legends at Wrestlemania 25, then feuded with the Colons after they won the Unified Tag Team Championships. They would have won the titles probably around when JeriShow did, which means Big Show would have not had anything to do after the summer. An inevitable feud between Cade and Jericho would have happened during the fall, with Cade turning face. I found him boring though and I'm sure many other fans did. He then would probably have failed this push as a face due to lack of a reaction from the fans, only to get squashed by Big Show in a pointless filler feud (since Big Show has nothing to do, there never was a JeriShow team in this scenario) and then future endeavored.

So, there's my answer to your second question. No. I don't think Cade would have become relevant because even though he was paired up with Jericho he was still boring and would likely have failed to get a decent crowd reaction on his own. He would probably not have succeeded as a singles competitor and still get future endeavored due to being boring. However, he likely would've won the Unified Tag Team Championship with Jericho like your theory states, if he had been around long enough for it to happen.
