What's the point of being "kayfabe" on Wrestlezone Forums?

It's something to do to pass the time.

Or it's a wall to hide behind when you're starting to shit on everyone, and don't want people to hate you. Good thing I was shitting on JKO, so I don't have to use that defense. I was just kidding with the JOB Squad.

Fuck this shit! I have IED! Who the hell are any of you to infract me? It isn't my fault! It's the IED's fault!

Because I wouldn't talk to any of you in real life. Whenever I go to a wrestling event, I am ashamed of my kind.

Personally, I love being "me on steroids" on the Internet. It's the kind of person I would love to be in real life, but can't be. I wouldn't necessarily say that it's a kayfabe thing, but I am free to speak my mind without regard to anyone's feelings when I post here, and not hold anything back ... which is quite therapeutic.

If you can't be yourself, then who can you be???

I have not "played a character" for one single moment on this forum since the day I joined. And I feel I've gotten to know many of you. But then I hear that a lot of you "play a heel" or act like a "kayfabe version" of yourself. That is the lamest fucking thing I've ever heard and you should all get a life if this is what gets your rocks off.

Who's acting like a kayfabe version of themself on here, D-Man?

See thing is, D-Man, they actually dont. You notice the only time anyone ever plays that card is when they get fucking rocked in an argument, or get called out for being a bitch or something. Then go to the good ol trusty "oh well I was just playing it up to get thread hits, just kayfabe, jokes on lolz lolz lolz"

Yea fucking right, you fucking loser.

Not really, Norcal. Not to pick on specific people, but many guys say shit like "I play a kayfabe heel to stir up discussion." And to me, that is such a load of utter dogshit. (And no Sidious, I'm not picking on only you.)

People, face facts... we're real people. As much as some of us are "obsessed" with pro-wrestling, we're never going to be a wrestler or live a day in the sunlight that a wrestler lives in 300+ days in a year.

I come on these forums to interact with people that I feel have common interests as me. Pro-wrestling fans are a dying and rare breed, and we need to stick together. But when you guys all act like something you're not, I feel my bond with all of you is broken.

Some may say I take this stuff too seriously. I just hate fake people... with a fucking passion.

Well it's good to know that you are attempting to pick on me, D-Man. However, at the same time, there is a difference here. There is a difference between someone being a Type A person, but acting like a Type B person on a forum. There is a difference between someone who is a boy, pretending they are a girl on a forum. There is a difference between someone describing themself as having a muscle bound physique, but in essence in reality being a lanky nobody.

Let me make perfectly clear like I have done countless times. The Lord Sidious on the forum is the real me on steroids. It is the person I wish I could honestly be in public and say the things I wish I could say to people in public, without having to worry about people getting all offended and such.

Lord Sidious- the moderator, is the professional version of me, and the way I act in real life, due to the norms in our society.

I don't have kayfabe views, so to make that comparison is inaccurate.

At the same time, I am smart enough to know that my views aren't popular and therefore are controversial. That works out great for all parties then. It works out for me because I can portray my real life wrestling views on here without regard to what others think, and act as ignorant as I want .... and they have every opportunity to fire back accordingly.

This is something that both you and Norcal really need to get over, because things aren't changing, just because you two may disagree with my posting style.

So I fail to see how it is a kayfabe version of me on the forum. It is me ... saying the things I honestly wish I could say in public, without worrying about causing a fight or a huge argument.

The Internet is in many ways, an escape ... an extension of one's true selves. And it is something I use to get away from the real world, not to continue more of it. It is an alternate reality where you don't have to worry about hiding your true self and personality in many respects. You can be yourself, or who you wish to be without worrying about knowing these people in your true life. So there is no emotional attachment really involved.

But again, I simply disagree with your portray that at least in my case, it is a kayfabe persona. It is me ... me on steroids.

Yes, thats exactly what I meant. They actually arent, it IS bullshit. They just pull that out when everyone calls them out for being such a miserable prick FUCK, and they are getting slammed left and right

*shrug* don't think there's anything wrong with putting a bit of style or personality into one of your posts.

As a rule of thumb I don't swear in real life. It tends to break through in wrestling posts simply as a stylistic device. In fact, I'll openly admit that the style I use for posting wrestling is nothing like the style I use for existing in the day to day world. That in its self could be seen as a "kayfabe" character switch; personally I'd just brand it as 'the way I write', but it seems to tick most of the parameters you're outlining here.

I won't even quote Sid's post in my reply because I really don't care about what he wrote. And I'll repeat myself again, I'm not only picking on him. As a matter of fact, this thread spawned from someone else that I'll keep nameless. However, since Sid does it too and is aware that I noticed, I didn't want to lie to everyone and make you all think that he wasn't included in all of this. I'm honest. That's the REAL me.

So I'm sorry if I struck a nerve, Sid. I really wasn't aiming this at you. However, I won't pull my punches about the subject, either. If you're guilty of it, you're guilty. But in the same way that you say no one will change their ways as it pertains to acting kayfabe, I'm not going to get over the fact that it pisses me off.

Either way, I'll think twice before I judge someone's character on here.

I know who's real on these forums, and I don't mind calling them out. IC25, Norcal, and CH David are definitely three of them. There may be more, but they aren't on the top of my mind right now.

It's a shame that the list isn't longer. Really, it is. Reality check, people.

I'm with NorCal and The D-Man on this in the sense that it is fucking ******ed to try and beef yourself up or lie to protect yourself on the internet. So what if people say you're being a cunt? Just grow up and deal with it if it is what you really think. I don't care about people who are perhaps more abrasive then they usually would be, like Sidious, I'm talking about people who pretend they are stirring shit when they were infact trying to be normal. I also hate it when people call each other heels and faces at all.

I don't do it on here but one forum I did do it cause the forum was boring so I did shit to make it fun for myself. I was hated by most and had very few friends :) but here I am myself cause I love you all.

I also hate it when people call each other heels and faces at all.

PS - Tasty DEFINITELY should have been on my list. I love this fucker.

This is exactly what I mean. You say you're a heel or a face?? Here's an idea... be a human being... be your-fucking-SELF.

There are people I know who intentionally take views that they don't truly believe in, just to start an argument. That, I think, is ridiculous, yes.

People that just post to stir shit up.

I do agree that this kind of thing is pointless.
