Voltaire - Brains!

Voltaire is an interesting singer whose songs are tongue-in cheek style songs about the horror genre. He has a song called When You're Evil which can pretty much apply to any villain from any medium and still remain awesome. However today I'm talking about the song Brains!

This is from the album Boo Hoo. It originally appeared in an episode of The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy and it's rather entertaining. It's all about a young boy (Billy) discovering an 'Evil Meteor from Out of the Sky', as the song describes it, and going out and finding brains for it to consume. It's actually a really fun and enjoyable song. Fun listen.

After the thread on Linkin Park the other day I went back and dug out my copy of Hybrid Theory, and havent stopped listening to it since, an awesome album.

This is the best of the lot though, I think Shinoda and Bennington have never sounded better than on this one, awesome video too

I HATE music like this. However this is the exception to the rule. Its so damn catchy and groovy! It has been stuck in my head for about a week. The only rewarding thing about the video is the girl in red's boobs ;)

A fucking amazing song. Slash is the absolute fucking MAN, no question about it.

This song isnt on either of the VR albums, I am not sure where it appears but when I heard it while surfing YouTube it blew me away. Slash absolutely owns on this, and Scott sounds better than ever.

I think it was initially done after the events of September 11, but I dont know if its written from the perspective of a person on the plane or a firefighter.

"Tell my son I wished I'd never yelled at him yesterday...cos everythings changed"

and

"And I pray some day you will be happy....without me"

always struck me as really great lyrics as the person realises he may never see his kid or family again. This song always makes me think. Emotional stuff guys

A truly wonderful pop song, by a Liverpool band who only ever made one album. Why they never followed up there debut with anything else is a mystery.

This song is rumoured to be about heroin- "there she goes, there she goes again, racing through my veins" is the line that thought is referring to, but I dunno if thats the actual meaning of the song.

It's just a classic Indie anthem to me, one I never get tired of listening to, and one I sing along to every time I hear it.

Ask and you shall receive.

A couple months ago I was checking out some musicians websites, and while on the Bluetech site I noticed an opportunity to help fund a collaboration project with kilowatts. Now these are a couple of my favorite electronic artists, both have completely different styles, so I was highly anticipating, and more than happy to help fund this project. I ended up on some website called kickstarter, I guess it's a common breeding ground for underground musicians and what not. I ended up spending 15 dollars and with that they hooked up an advance digital release of the album, a hard copy and a bunch of promotional stickers, after the album was released they offered the flac files for free as well.

I've been listening to this cd for a couple weeks now, and it's more than exceeded my expectations, which where high to begin with. The cd is composed of five original tracks and five remixed tracks, and in this case the remixes hold right up to the originals, and in some cases even exceed the original tracks.

My favorite track off the album just so happens to be a remix as well, within the first 30 seconds of this track you're transported through a delicious vortex of new sound, all fighting for the sole purpose of pleasuring your ears.

When I was a kid I grew up poor. Needless to say, Christmas sucked for me. With lots of people being unemployed now days, I am sure there are lots of poor kids feeling the same way I did as a kid.

Now, when your like seven or eight and you see all the other kids getting all the best G.I. Joes and the new Nikes, and you are getting fucking pro-wings, and knock off toys, you might get a little jealous. I always hated going back to school after break hearing about what the other kids got.

As I got older I found out the truth about Santa, and the truth is Santa is a fat bitch! My favorite Wicked Clowns felt the same about the jolly bastard.

When I first heard this song I almost cried. I always hated how kids are told to be good or they wont get anything, some kids are good as they can be and still don't get shit. Then you got the spoiled asshole kid who gets in trouble all the time and comes to school in the fresh Jordans and has all the new video game systems. Thanks a lot Santa, you fat bitch!

P.S. The song has a Undertaker shout out in it.

Walk Away - Five Finger Death Punch

I'm not much of a listener to FFDP, but I've come to love this song in the past week. After watching this AMV, the song just kind of grew on me and now I can't get it out of my head. The opening riff was especially good and the lyrics were quite touching indeed. A song that you can listen to when you have troubles going on in your life.

I have never been a big trance guy, but recently I have started listening to more of it, due to my brother getting really into the genre. He is forever sending me new tracks and getting on my case about showing no interest in it. After listening to quite a bit recently, I do quite like Above & Beyond, they are better than most of the other stuff I have heard.

As I have been bought tickets for xmas by my brother to go and see them on boxing day, I have been playing quite a bit of their stuff. This is one of my favourite tracks so far.

Most people will know Saliva from their music being used on the WWE PPV's on a regular basis. They also did music for Batista, The Dudleyz, Jericho if I am not mistaken.

Anyway, I love this song. Josey Scott has a great voice, and its good that he isnt doing the usual new metal sound, which is what Saliva normally do. Pretty tuneful, catchy and great vocals.

Back before Train sold out and Pat Monahan and company became just another mainstream act trying to crank out Rob Thomas like hits, they were actually a damn good band. Their second album, Drops of Jupiter, was great "roots" rock. It was rightfully nominated for 6 Grammy's in what was a good year for music overall.

But the best song off of that album was "Something More." I believe this was Train at their best, laid back music one could easily get high to that still conveyed great emotion through the lyrics. The "less is more" approach worked so well for them back in the day, and most of the songs on this album shared that approach. This was just the best of them.

Im listening to it right now because I needed something that was exactly like I described above: A laid back song musicallly that I could sit back, get high to, yet still feel moved by the lyrics. Not a whole lot more I can personally ask for in a song after whats been one heck of a long week.

I just opened up my eyes
And let the world come climbing in
It's all better now, things are gonna work somehow
If I just sleep another hour
Tried to reach you at your mom's
Hey baby why you trying to keep away for so long
I stopped feeling good, somehow I just knew I would
I guess I'll sleep another hour
Feels like I'm wasting my time
Hanging on this same old line
Got to get you off of my mind
There's nothing left for me to find

And all the more I want
All the more I need
All the while you want something more
All the more I want
All the more I need
All the while you want something more

Thought I found the words to say
Just to get you feeling fine over heels my way
But it don't matter how
I lost the word and nerve and now
There's nothing more for me to say
Feels like I'm wasting my time
Hanging on this same old line
There's nothing left for me to find

And all the more I want
All the more I need
All the while you want something more
All the more I want
All the more I need
All the while you want something

There's nothing left for me to say
Wanting what I need this way
And when I'm feeling low I know
I need to stop

And someday you will see
All the more you want
All the more you'll need me
All the while I'll be on to something more
And all the more you want
All the more you'll need me
All the while I want something more
I want something more
I want something more than this

I usually just post the chorus, verse, or bridge that is the most meaningful to me, but in this case, the entire song holds that weight. I saw them perform this song about 8 years ago at a rock festival, and their mellow sound was the highlight of the show for me. This song stood out more then any of the others, although the entire show was kickass. It just takes me back to a time of fond memories of going to 10 concerts a summer and being high as hell during all of them. Sometimes, I miss those days! ;)

I was sitting outside getting high and bumpin' the iPod, thinking about how I feel bad for people who are not high by afternoon time.
When this great old school track came blasting into the speakers.
I used to play the shit outa this song. I think Treach is underrated and gets over looked when people start talking about great rappers. This is a song that takes me back to better days, when I was younger. When I listen to this song it lets me know "Everything's gonna be alright".

My favorite quote from the song is the last line..."If you ain't ever been to the ghetto, don't ever come to the ghetto, cause you wouldn't understand the ghetto, so stay the fuck out of the ghetto".

I remember how I found this song. Years ago my Dad was buying a new car, and chose one that had been used as the demo car at the showroom, and when we got home it turned out there had been a cassette tape left in the tape deck, which turned out to be a complilation featuring this track.

It is a song that always meant a lot to me, around the times that me and my girlfriend were getting ready to go back to our seperate universities, and we would try and make the last night together last forever, and to put off leaving for as long as possible. The lyrics "So take this wine, and drink with me...lets delay our misery" really hits home when someone you love is about to go away.

All in all, great song. Great lyrics from a band who never really did anything else....as far as I am aware

How could anyone not like this song!!??!!

This is just a funky jam I like to get down to when I am doing shit around the house,or just chillin'. It just has an up beat feel to it, and always puts me in a good mood.
I will always associate this song with my childhood. I can remember quoting parts of the song like, "Whatcha gonna do when you get out of jail, I'm gonna have some fun." and the classic, "James Brown!".
This song also makes me think back to the roller rink I used to go to as a kid.
Nothing beats skating around in circles for hours, while jamming out to great tunes. If you were lucky you might have even got the chance to make out with someone. Them where the times.

This song is just another reason I loved growing up in the 80's.

Just a fucking beast of a song. Brutal, heavy and perfect for the gym...I love it

I dont like all Machine Head's stuff, some of it is too heavy for me but I just love this one. Proper metal, and Robb Flynn's voice fits this music perfectly. I love blasting this out in the car

Lion - The Transformers Theme

Oh hell yes. I haven’t posted in this thread for a little while, but I was just listening to this and I had to talk about it in this thread. Basically, if you've been living under a rock for the past 25 years, Transformers was an incredibly popular cartoon in the 80's that was spawned from the Hasbro toyline of the same name. Since then the series has continued to be a success with spin-offs, comics and even a live-action movie series. This is the famous theme from the original series starring Peter Cullen & Frank Welker.

This is actually pretty generic 80's rock with heavy guitar solos and repetitive lyrics. But that's really what you've got to love about this. The song is really memorable because of these facts and as such, it lives on, even today. I'm sure no one will ever forget these lyrics:

Transformers,
More than meets the eye,
Transformers,
Robots in Disguise,
Transformers,
Autobots wage their Battle,
To destroy the evil forces,
Of the Decepticons.

Alice in fucking Chains!!! Hell Yeah!

One of my favourite AIC songs, it came up on shuffle on the ipod this morning. When I am getting ready for work, I just plug the ipod into the speakers and leave it one shuffle. I had an awesome run of songs this morning:

Kyuss- Demon Cleaner
Stereophonics- Just Looking
Soundgarden- Holy Water
and then

Alice In Chains- Bleed The Freak

It is very underrated, I love how it builds up and the chorus shows just how good Layne's voice was. I cant believe its 20 years old?? Thats nearly a quarter of a century?!!

The Catalyst - Linkin Park

After Blackout, this is my favorite song of the A Thousand Suns album. It's amazing how it can swith the tempo from an upbeat techno song into a slow piano tone without a hitch. I just love it when the piano starts playing and Chester starts singing "Lift me up, Let me go". It's a song I like to listen to on a Saturday morning without any worries of work or school.

Im at work not sure if the video will show up but this song is called "Lost" by Avenged Sevenfold. I think this is one of their MOST underrated songs they have ever made. I have literally had this song in my head for days, the chorus is just awesome. Amazing guitar work by Synyster as well. M. Shadows takes an auto-tune type direction in the chorus. Not a fan of auto tune at all but it flows incredibly well with the melody of the song.

Here Comes the Flood - Peter Gabriel/Robert Fripp (from Fripp's Exposure)

I'm a huge fan of Peter Gabriel and I think that "Here Comes the Flood" is one of his best songs. However, the version of the track on his debut album is, by his own admission, over produced. He redid it in 1979 with Robert Fripp, which saw it stripped down and bookended with "Water Music", a Frippertronics soundscape. It's my favorite version of the song. There's a definite sense of urgency thanks to Fripp's guitar crescendos and it meshes perfectly with the piano. The YouTube video posted above contains the song and "Water Music", so nothing seems out of place.

Katy Perry: Peacock.

Such an anthem, story of my life. Such a great song from the Grammy nominated Album "Teenage Dream".

The lyrics are amazing, the song it self is catchy and a masterpiece.

"Are you brave enough to let me see your peacock?
Don’t be a chicken boy, stop acting like a beeotch
I’ma peek out if you don’t give me the pay up
Come on baby let me see what you’re hiding underneath

Are you brave enough to let me see your peacock?
Don’t be a shy kinda guy
I bet it’s beautiful

Come on baby let me see
What you’re hiding underneath

I wanna see your peacock, cock, cock
Your peacock, cock, cock"

Future #1, download it!

My favorite lyric though,
"Oh my god, no exaggeration. Boy all this time was worth the waiting. I just she'd a tear, I'm so unprepared" <3

The 2nd single off the new A7X album, and one of my favoruites of theirs. I only really like the self titled album, but the few I have heard off "Nightmare", I like, so I think I will pick up the album soon. "Welcome To The Family" is always on the local rock station, which surprised me a little as it tends to focus on older stuff like Zeppelin, ACDC and Thin Lizzy, but I'm glad that modern bands are getting some attention and publicity in England.

I really like Shadow's vocals on this track, apart from when he screams but overall its really good. I like the general beat to the song, pretty catchy and cool chorus too. When they actually sing, A7X are a really good band. I wouldnt class this song as good as "Afterlife" or "Dear God" but its still a really decent track.

Great song bro, saw them play it live when they came out here. Dear God is an outstanding track, whats your opinion on "Lost" from their self titled album? I posted I was listening to that earlier in this thread as I think its a very underrated song by them.

Anyway, I can't post a vid because I am at work but I am currently listening to "The Way I Am" by Eminem. Song pretty much summarizes what Eminem thinks about his haters and the controversy he created. Still find it funny when their was a time in America where it's biggest problem was Eminem.

I think long ago people have stopped hating on Eminem, there really is no point when he puts out songs like these.

It seems like the media immediately points a finger at me
So I point one back at em, but not the index or pinky
Or the ring or the thumb, its the one you put up when you dont give a fuck
When you wont just put up with the bullshit they pull cause they full of shit too

I'm not mr. N'Sync, Im not what your friends think, Im not mr. friendly

Great song
