What Makes a Great General Manager?

Ferbian

Has Returned.
A general manager is usually the primary authority figure of a promotion or a show obviously. He's the guy to "arrange" the matches as well as to keep order on the show and the matches his or her show produces for the Pay Per View.

A lot of different things could make a great general manager. Some have had these things (If I may say so myself), a guy like Bischoff. But it doesn't necessarily mean that he's the epitome of a great general manager.

We've seen general managers for a big part of wrestling. Mostly in the 90's and forth through WWE primarily with the form of a commissioner, which later on turned into a General Manager.

So I would assume that the General Manager moniker as an authority figure has always existed in terms of a manager. However the general manager made it a more broad concept of decisions to be made not only to take control of a single wrestler, but a whole roster.

So what I'm asking you is:

What makes a great general manager? Why so?

And who do you think comes the closest to a perfect, or great general manager?
