sly, im interested to hear what you think about my roster so far???
I doubt it. ;)

you havent mentioned me much since i picked lesnar.
Well, first for the good.

You picked up by Edge and Christian, which gives you a lot of roster flexibility. Those two can work either as great singles wrestlers, in the upper midcard, or you can put them together as a tag team, and cover requirements there. Both are smark favorites, great on the mic, solid in the ring, and EXCEL at gimmick matches.

Now, for the bad.

Honestly, I would have to say that you have the weakest draft so far, challenged only by cabowers. You picked up two guys in Danielson and Daniels that you could have picked up 3 rounds later, while leaving great workers like Ricky Steamboat, Jushin Liger, Great Muta, Barry Windham, Owen Hart, CM Punk, Bob Backlund etc, all guys who could have filled you "technical wrestling" direction you seem to want to go in. And Steamboat, Liger, and Windham are three times the professional wrestlers Danielson or Daniels is. I mean, it's not even close. You don't have that super main-event draw, nor do I see a "dream match" that you can work towards to make people continue voting for you.

The best thing about your draft is that it can still be saved with some good choices. I also would think about maybe going towards picking up some good hardcore wrestlers/brawlers, as you have three guys already on your roster who are highly respected for work in various gimmick matches (HBK, Christian, Edge) plus a fourth in Daniels who has done well in Ultimate X and has a 5 star triple threat match under his belt. Maybe pick up some guys like Brody and Hansen and Abdullah, coupled alongside some high flyers and technical wrestlers. With so few major draws left, you might need to have the style of your promotion sell the product rather than the wrestlers themselves.

Basically, your roster can be saved if you try and promote what original ECW fans like to think their promotion was about. Hardcore gimmick wrestling, with lucha libre and technical wrestling sprinkled throughout.

But, just a suggestion though.

Shit... I got 2 minutes and I'm waiting for Cabowers... I might be back online before thenight is over, but I'm gonna PM my two choices to Mr Sam just in case.

I like C.M.'s and Brian's roster best so far. I'd probably give Brian the slight edge right now, just because I REALLY love that Austin vs. Savage potential, and I think British Bulldogs are better than the Hardys. But, it's VERY close.

Here's how I rank them thus far.

1. Brian
2. C.M.
3. SuperDerf
4. Mr. Sam
5. cabowers
6. Whole Show

ok since superdef has went offline for 24 hours do i get 2 picks now and sort his out later?

Coach is in the ring

"Ladies and gentlemen at this time i would liek to welcome to the ring the number 2 seed in the Golden Run, Kurt Angle!"

Angle walks to the ring dressed in red, white and blue ring attire

"Whats this about Coach. I have a very important match coming up and i need to prepare, so unless your here to tell me i have a bye i dont care.
"Actually Kurt, I'm here to tell you who you will be facing in the first round of the tournament."
"And who might that be."
"The num..."
"I dont care who it is, I'll tell you exactly what i told Bret Hart. My name is Kurt Angel, I am an olympic gold medalist, I am an American Hero, i am the best in the business period!!!"
"Kurt you may think your the best in the business but i have someone who would disagree, ladies and gentlemen the 7th pick for FPPW, Ricky "the dragon" steamboat!!!"

K well if i need to change it i will.

As both Kurt and Ricky stand staring each other down, Bret Hart appears on the stage and starts making his way to the ring.

"Well, well, well. Look what we have here. Two losers and an idiot. Coach why do you even bother drafting anyone for the tournament. Just award me the belt right here, right now and this will all be over with."
"After what you did to Mick Foley, i dont think so. I was going to wait till later on tonight to introduce the final participant in the golden run but seeing as your here i may as well do it now. The 8th pick is the 'king of harts' Owen Hart."

Suddenly Owen sprints out to the ring as all four men begin to brawl, security eventually separates them as coach stands in the middle.

"You's 4 want to go at it, then fair enough. The finale of the draft will take place next week and afterwards as our main event it will be Kurt Angle & Owen Hart vs Bret Hart and Ricky Steamboat"

Sly now that i have 8 picks under my belt can you give me your thoughts on my draft and why you feel i'm one of the weakest so far

Sly now that i have 8 picks under my belt can you give me your thoughts on my draft and why you feel i'm one of the weakest so far
I like your last two picks, not only as individuals but also within the context of your roster. What you're missing now are some heavy hitters. You have the mat wrestlers, and with Owen and Steamboat, you add some aerial to go with Styles and Mysterio, but your lacking the fisticuffs, the brawlers, the heavyweights. Guys who will add variety to your card, while also showing what makes guys like Bret and Steamboat so special.

I will say that your last two picks really improved your roster in my eyes, even if Owen Hart is criminally overrated by smarks.

And, a Bret Hart vs. Steamboat match HAS to be in the works somewhere. I wouldn't give it away first round, but rather tease if for the second or third rounds, while building up to your obvious Bret vs. Angle showdown.

Sly, now that some people are asking for opinions on there roster. What are your opinions on my picks so far?

I'm back now, I sent Sam a message with my two picks, one of them is Scott Hall. The other is Booker T. I'll be on tomorrow.

k its still Mr. Sam's turn.

I dont know why TWFS pick after you,I think TWFS thought it was his turn.

now for my response to slys comments earlier:

first lemme start by sayin that slys opinions are not only greatly respected but highly valued as well and whether i agree or not, i do take them into consideration because hes proven hes a very intelligent poster.

but i have to say, for the most part i disagree with sly on this draft so far. now to be honest i have to say i expected you not to like my roster. by no means did was i planning to recieve a sterling evaluation because we seem to have differing opinions on what draws and what doesnt. i dont really think either of us is wrong, we just move in 2 different directions. you seem to be behind guys like hogan and cena, who draw the lights out and have tons of fans and hey i like both of them, not huge fans but i like them. with what hogans meant to the business and with how hard cena busts his ass for it, i could see how youd be behind them. however, as important as they may be, neither of them is the most skilled in their profession. see, i tend to lean towards guys who can put on impressive technical matches, hence my selections. (not to say cena and hogan havent had classics, theyve had plenty. but theres a big difference between a hogan/warrior classic and an hbk/benoit classic if you know what im sayin).

furthermore, to say ive had the worst draft so far made me laugh a little bit. actually alot. mostly cause im fairly certain that all the other 5 guys in this draft along with thousands of wz users would disagree with that. but then again, i didnt ask their opinion. i asked urs. ;-).

now as for christopher daniels and bryan danielson. i think you said i couldve gotten them 3 rounds later or something to that affect. well in the last draft, they were both gone before the 6th round i believe, and i got them in the 6th and 7th. imo, i consider that a steal. also, im pretty sure i remember sam saying i stole his next pick when i picked daniels. so im not sure if they woulda been around that long. however im almost positive that great muta, bob backlund and barry windham will all be around in 3 rounds. in fact, they'll all be around in 7,8 or 9 rounds. i could even see 2 out of those 3 guys not getting picked at all. so if i wanted them, i could wait a while. and your right, they all could more then fill the technical wrestler ideal that ive been going for, but the people here on wz, the ppl who will be voting for the top show, would all prefer daniels and danielson over them. and the voters are the ones who counts.

moving forward, i found it interesting looking at the names on my roster that you would say i have no draws. no draws? really? without mentioning hbk and benoit im pretty sure edge and christian are both in the top 5 of each of their companies and sell alot of tshirts. danielson is the best wrestler alive today and christopher daniels has as many hardcore fans as anyone out there. not to mention another versatile, flexible tag team in AMW and a guy who fans would kill to see comeback, in lesnar. the guy is making his comeback in my company. that would draw like crazy unless your not into the whole "one of the most talented monsters in wrestling history coming back" thing.

i do definitly agree that adding some high flyers/brawlers is a must tho. however i feel those spots are much easier to fill later on. just my opinion tho. everyone thinks differently.

i just have one more thing that i couldnt really understand. you said i should move in an ecw-type direction. i hardly believe i need gimmick matches to sell at all. every single wrestler ive drafted is capable of putting on incredible singles matches without any stipulations at all. i mean they could also put on 5 star gimmick matches, but i certainly dont think i need them.

like i said before, its the ppl on wz who are going to be voting here. the majority of them want to see highly talented wrestlers in wrestling matches. for example, and believe me ive never talked to him and dont know much about him, i think if i were to ask someone like Y2Jake to put our rosters in order from best to worst, im sure he'd hav me far from the bottom, because from what i can tell from his posts he seems to be more into the style that i am, which is good talented wrestlers. but then again, i have no idea and as said before its all about the difference of opinion. that doesnt mean anyones opinion is wrong, its just different. in my opinion, cm drafted cena and hogan and got great reviews from you but dont you realize how many ppl absolutely despise cena/hogan. none of those ppl would ever give cena or hogan a vote compared to hbk, edge and the ROH guys. the hogan/cena haters greatly outnumber the hogan/cena lovers on wz as unfortunate as that is its the truth. and sorry cm for kinda goin at your roster. imo you hav a great roster so dont think im tryin to bash it or anything.

lastly, i just wanna say that i continue to gain respect for slyfox cuz hes awfully blunt and very honest. i like that in ppl. i hope you wont mind if i keep asking your opinion. right now i think everyones rosters are exactly the same cuz we havent really started the writing process. its the writing and the creativity that will set shows apart. we're all gunna have our share of great wrestlers but when the fueds are made and the matches are written, then we"ll see whose got the best show. until then, im still under the way of thinking that everyones show is about the same.

damn, this post is silly long. sry for anyone whose gonna read all this crap. ill shorten things up in the future.

oo my bad. i forgot sam didnt go yet. in the last draft you could only reserve if they were a legitamite tag team like AMW and guys like HHH and HBK or other teams like that couldnt be reserved. maybe he changed it im not sure. my bad about draftin too early. woops.

no problem
I also draft it too early yesterday but I notice quickly that it wasnt my turn and I edit it my post
