I am actually not surprised with the draw. I wonder if Maynard will get an immediate rematch or if Pettis gets the next crack at the belt.
I definitely could see the draw .
Great minds think a like! Definitely gonna be interesting to see what they do, they might have Edgar/Pettis merger, then Maynard gets winner of them.
Maybe, but I almost feel like that could put Maynard on ice for a year depending on the injuries Edgar sustained from this fight. I could also see some sort of fight between Pettis and Maynard which would set up the next fighter to face Edgar maybe around this time next year. I would prefer to just see Maynard/Edgar III since I don't like Pettis all that much.
Pettis gets Edgar next.
A collective facepalm from MMA fans in response.
Gomi just doesn't look like he'll ever be a challenger. To be beaten by Guida just looks bad. Guida isn't a bad fighter, but he's not an elite one either.I'm still bummed out about the Gomi fight. Damn shame. He'll rebound though; I just now think his chances of ever receiving a title shot are very slim at this point. Fucking sucks.
I had Edgar winning every round after the first. And yeah... Edgar vs. Maynard was great. I also had Edgar winning 3 rounds to 2. There should definitely be a third fight. Only reason why there won't be an immediate rematch though is because of the press Pettis' kick got on ESPN and what not. If he hadn't landed that kick, Maynard vs. Edgar 3 would be going down in a couple of months. I guarantee it.
I disagree completely, and so did Diaz. You could just see in his body language he didn't think he won the fight. I also disagree that takedowns shouldn't mean anything. Taking a guy off his feet should count, just like stopping an opponent from taking you off your feet should count. I thought Kim fought a very boring fight, but he controlled that fight just about the whole way through. There was never a time that I thought Diaz came close to being able to mount any serious offense. And I thought Diaz beat Kim. Takedowns should mean jackshit when it comes to judging. Diaz was way more active on the ground than Kim was; it doesn't matter if he was on the bottom or not, he deserved the points for his activity, all the shots he landed while down, and the ability to get back up at certain points. Bullshit decision, if you ask me.
