UFC 125: Resolution LD

I am actually not surprised with the draw. I wonder if Maynard will get an immediate rematch or if Pettis gets the next crack at the belt.

Great minds think a like! Definitely gonna be interesting to see what they do, they might have Edgar/Pettis merger, then Maynard gets winner of them.

Maybe, but I almost feel like that could put Maynard on ice for a year depending on the injuries Edgar sustained from this fight. I could also see some sort of fight between Pettis and Maynard which would set up the next fighter to face Edgar maybe around this time next year. I would prefer to just see Maynard/Edgar III since I don't like Pettis all that much.

That's the other way I was thinking also, have Maynrad/Pettis fight. I'm with you though, especially after this fight, I wanna see Maynard/Edgar 3.

I fucking hate MMA Judging. Edgar took that and the fact that one judge thought Maynard took it and the other thought it was a draw... ugh.

Great main-event. In fact, after we saw Vera's nose, the whole card got better.

It's a shame this isn't the WWE. If it was, we'd just have a Triple Threat match between Pettis, Edgar and Maynard. It would solve all the problems. As it is, it'll be interesting to see what happens.

I love Thiago Silva fights so much. The bitchslapping he gave Vera was great.

Also, just gonna leave this here:

I'm still bummed out about the Gomi fight. Damn shame. He'll rebound though; I just now think his chances of ever receiving a title shot are very slim at this point. Fucking sucks.

And yeah... Edgar vs. Maynard was great. I also had Edgar winning 3 rounds to 2. There should definitely be a third fight. Only reason why there won't be an immediate rematch though is because of the press Pettis' kick got on ESPN and what not. If he hadn't landed that kick, Maynard vs. Edgar 3 would be going down in a couple of months. I guarantee it.

And I thought Diaz beat Kim. Takedowns should mean jackshit when it comes to judging. Diaz was way more active on the ground than Kim was; it doesn't matter if he was on the bottom or not, he deserved the points for his activity, all the shots he landed while down, and the ability to get back up at certain points. Bullshit decision, if you ask me.

Pettis gets Edgar next.

A collective facepalm from MMA fans in response.

I don't think so. I think it'll be Maynard vs. Edgar. I think that will draw more money now, after the fight last night, than Pettis vs. Edgar.

Gomi just doesn't look like he'll ever be a challenger. To be beaten by Guida just looks bad. Guida isn't a bad fighter, but he's not an elite one either.

I had Edgar winning every round after the first.

And I think we'll see Edgar vs. Maynard 3 before Pettis gets his shot. I think that will draw a lot better than a fight with Pettis, since Edgar vs. Maynard will have something for people to look forward to after the war they were in last night, and the controversial decision. That will sway people to buy the show.

Ironic, isn't it? Twice now Edgar has not been thought of as someone who will get people to buy (1st vs. Penn, and now vs. Edgar) and both times he'll be in a rematch that people will want to see. The fight everyone thought would be so boring will turn into a fight a lot of people will pay to see.

I disagree completely, and so did Diaz. You could just see in his body language he didn't think he won the fight. I also disagree that takedowns shouldn't mean anything. Taking a guy off his feet should count, just like stopping an opponent from taking you off your feet should count. I thought Kim fought a very boring fight, but he controlled that fight just about the whole way through. There was never a time that I thought Diaz came close to being able to mount any serious offense.

Pettis wasn't promised the next fight I dn't think. He was promised the winner. No winner was declared, thus he must wait.

If a rematch doesn't happen, fans will be really let down.

Dana said last night at the press conference that Pettis was getting the shot, but then changed his mind and said Maynard gets the rematch.

It's only fair since Grey is still technically the number one contender as he wasn't defeated last night.
