King Of The Ring
Welcome to the fourth installment of my "Turning the Page" series, where you get to book how you would turn a particular Superstar either heel or face. Surprisingly, I got quite a few requests for the All American American American American American, Jack Swagger.

Jack Swagger debuted in the WWE as a heel in October of 2008, where he was given a lengthy winning streak. That streak extended into 2009, where Swagger defeated current ECW Champion Matt Hardy to win the ECW title, his first taste of gold within WWE. Swagger retained the title at the Royal Rumble in Hardy's return match.

Swagger remained undefeated into February, where he was handed his first singles's loss at the hands of Finlay due to a distraction from the returning Christian. Swagger would retain the ECW championship in Christian's first attempt, but Christian would ultimately win the title from Swagger at Backlash 2009.

Swagger would chase the title for some time, losing both his return match at Judgment Day, as well as at Extreme Rules in a triple threat Extreme Rules match. His final attempt to win the ECW Championship was also unsuccessful in a five man Scramble Match at The Bash. Swagger would soon after be traded to Raw in June 2009, where his first match saw him be the second opponent in a Gauntlet Match against then WWE Champion Randy Orton. Rather then face Orton, Swagger attempted to ingratiate himself to Orton, taking a countout loss. Swagger did little of note following that on Raw, save a feud with MVP and the pursuit of the US Championship against Kofi Kingston, of which he came up short on many occasions. Swagger's luck began to change, however, when he qualified for the Money in The Bank match at Wrestlemania with a win against Santino Marella. This culminated in Swagger winning the MITB match at Wrestlemania, and quickly cashing it in five days later when he took advantage of an injured Chris Jericho at the hands of Edge.

Jack Swagger then went on to have one of the worst World Title Reigns in recent history. After successfully retaining the title against both Jericho and Edge in a triple threat match on the following Smackdown, Swagger retained the title in an Extreme Rules match at ER 2010 against Randy Orton. It was when Swagger transitioned from 'feuding" with Orton that his flaws were exposed. He began to feud with the Big Show, where he showed himself to be quite broing while generating go-away heat. After retaining the title at Over the Limit in an awful match against Big Show via DQ, Swagger dropped the title to Rey Mysterio at Fatal Four Way. He would then lose his return match to Mysterio as well at the Money in the Bank PPV.

Swagger has done little since then, often going missing altogether from WWE TV, orn wrestling on SUperstars. He took on a more serious persona for as time, but then adopted a mascot in the Swagger Soaring Eagle. Clearly, creative has been lost for some time as for what to do with this great in-ring talent. A re-packaging could certainly benefit the All AMerican American. Here's your chance.

The purpose of this thread isn't to show why you would turn him face, but explain how you would do it. I also want to know why you believe this would be successful. If you disagree with someone, feel free to rip their post to pieces. Just be sure to add what YOU would do instead. Here's what I need to know.

1. How would you successfully turn Jack Swagger face?

2. Why would this scenario work for him?

3. Should Jack Swagger turn face in 2011? Why?

Have at it.

I would turn Swagger face to get in back in the main event. His current gimmick isn't getting over like it used to and he doesn't get as much heat anymore so I would turn him face for a short period to get back in the main event. I would have him stay heel untill after Wrestlemania. He could have a gimmick like Angle's where he trys to go through the contenders except he says he wants to beat former champs. So he starts by facing Rey Mysterio. Have him beat Mysterio then shake his hand after the match. Next he can go after Big Show. He beats him and shakes his hand post match too. He then targets Kane and beats him. He trys to shake Kane's hand but he refuses. Swagger is now the number one contender for Edge's title but turns heel again by taking out Edge and saying he used the fans to get back in the title picture.

I think this scenario would help Swagger because once he turns back heel, he can say he used the fans to get back in the title picture. It would cause the fans to boo him and he would get more heat. So a short face turn then another heel turn would get him more heat.

Swagger should turn face right tafter Wrestlemania, that way he can turn heel once again around summer time.

1. How would you successfully turn Jack Swagger face?

I'm trying my hardest to remember Kurt Angle's first face run and if I'm correct, that was in 2003 in his feud with Brock Lesnar where he won over a tremendous amount of respect. I personally think that's what Jack Swagger needs in order to turn face and to get over that way; a good feud with the right opponent. Now there are currently no main eventers or big stars that can handle Jack Swagger's style. However, there are a few mid carders to give him the proper feud he needs in order to turn face. Mid Carders such as Daniel Bryan (even though small and probably incapable of putting on a proper feud being that small with Swagger being that big), Dolph Ziggler (heel vs. heel...ehh) or Kofi Kingston (Ding ding...winner).

2. Why would this scenario work for him?

I believe this scenario would work perfectly for him. Like I said earlier, Kurt Angle feuded with Brock Lesnar in 2003 and traded the roles of heel and face several times. Now Kofi Kingston is no Brock Lesnar. He's not as big as him, popularity wise or physically, but Kofi has what it takes to bring out the absolute best in Jack Swagger. They have great chemistry and can really show what they've got when facing one another. Once the fans warm up to Swagger and see just how much talent he trully has, they'll start to like him. You'll start to hear those few select guys chanting his name and pretty soon, we'll have ourselves some deuling chants between Jack Swagger and Kofi Kingston in a long, drawn out match. Goosebump city.

3. Should Jack Swagger turn face in 2011? Why?

This is the hardest question. I absolutley love Jack Swagger. I love him! He is one of my more favorite "rookies" I guess you could say. Now, while I do like Swagger the way he is, ti think a face run wouldn't be a bad idea at this point. Now, when someone is face, it's lot easier for fans to accept you. You'll start to build a fan base and pretty soon, you'll have the fans that'll stick with you through and through like the Jericho fans, Edge fans, or Sheamus fans. All of these type of fans chant their superstar's name heel or face. I think that's what Jack Swagger needs before anything. They're starting to build Swagger back up, please do it properly this time.

Jack Swagger needs a complete overhaul to be honest. There are a lot of ways in which he could be turned though. He could save a superstar from a beatdown, he could just come out and answer some heel's challenge who is talking big, etc. The thing is if he ever turns face, he needs to be shown as a Doug Williams like face. He lacks charisma and so he needs to be booked as someone whom the fans like due to his wrestling ability, just like Doug Williams.

As far as success goes, the level isn't all that high in the case of Swagger. So I would say its certainly worth a try to turn him face. He can certainly have good matches and he also lacks personality. In short he has all the capability in the world to be Chris Benoit 2.0.
