Jack Swagger.... a face?!

As most of you have seen (or read), Jack Swagger is your new World Heavyweight Champion after cashing in his MITB case on Chris Jericho. I'd say it's the beginning of a face turn rather than Swagger just holding the title until Edge (or even Undertaker) is ready to go. After all he DID cash in on the HEEL champion.

Question 1: Do YOU think this is a face turn for Swagger?
Question 2: Do YOU see a decent (more than a month) reign for the All-American American?

Feel free to discuss and debate LOL

No for the simple fact is WWE needs heels and so what Swagger cash in on a heel champion, he's still heel he gets the heat, and his title reign is the beginning of a change for WWE as they are finally starting push the people that need a push.

No. I do not think this World Heavyweight Championship win will lead to a face turn for Jack Swagger. Despite the fact that he cashed in his Money in the Bank contract on the biggest heel in the WWE, it doesn't mean Swagger will turn face. Chances are, that if that was the direction that WWE was going anytime in the near future, you'd probably see some sign of it on Smackdown last night... you didn't.

And I don't think it's necessary either. He is great as a heel and he shouldn't turn face unless he starts to get stale. He isn't stale at all right now, and he should stay heel for as long as possible.

NO. Jack Swagger will not make a face turn, WWE needs heels right now, knowing that one of their top heel(Batista) will take some time off, Jack Swagger needs to continue being a heel if WWE wants to make him a big draw. Swagger is doing a great job as a heel and by turning him face that will just kill his whole momentum.

I could say that the wrestler that might make a face turn might be Jericho and not Swagger.

No. Not at all. First, Jack Swagger is doing an absolute great job at being heel. As noted with the huge heat he got in his first promo as champion. Second, even with Jericho being the most hated heel as of now, Swagger still managed to get quite a lot of heat while in they were both going at it. And that means a lot. Most, if not all, are cheered when the go up against the top heel. Yet, Swagger managed to keep the crowd on hating him.

Having him turn face now is pointless. This is the most heat Swagger has gotten in his whole career. Why stop the momentum? Wait till' he gets stale or something.

Swagger, no. Jericho, though...I could see him being more of a tweener if not getting a full fledged face turn. He is showing so many signs of his old Y2J persona it's almost nostalgic. He's whining, acting like bad things (like him losing the title) never happened, ordering people around like they owe him something...nothing like the Chris Jericho who has worked his way into the #1 heel role everybody is talking about. That Chris Jericho hates everybody, wants everybody to hate him, is completely independent, doesn't get hurt, has better DNA than everybody, and above all else, preaches - not whines.

I could very easily be reading too far into this but the Chris Jericho who thanked Edge for getting hurt wouldn't have made me laugh so hard over the last week between his NXT commentating and his mic work all night on Friday night. He was seriously cracking me up. And he hadn't been before - he was too busy telling people how much better he was than them.

Judging by what happened on Smackdown, Swagger doesn't seem at all like he will be turning face. Heel wrestlers beating heel wrestlers have happened several times without one of the heel wrestlers turning face. On Smackdown, Swagger showed to me that he will continue as a heel considering that he attacked Edge with the briefcase, had a serious look on his face, and his segments with Vickie and Shelton.

Not a face turn for me. I think he will carry on as a heel champion and feud with Y2J or Edge. He's good being a heel and a face turn right now will definitely destroy him as fans will be confused to cheer, or to boo him.

His reign might last for at least two months, imo. His push is beginning so having him hold the title for those two months might let him dominate the ring for some time to give him a reputation. However, this can change if the WWE wants Edge to hold the title due to his injury comeback.

The fact that Jack swagger claimed that he was the replacement for Shawn Michaels makes me believe that he'll remain as a heel (he was booed loudly when he said that). I think in the future he has all the ability to turn face but at the moment, it just suits him better to be the heel champ. As for his title reign? I don't know, ideally I'd like to see him hold it for a while (maybe Night of Champions in September?) but realistically it's more likely going to be Over the Limit or Fatal Four Way.

No Jack Swagger is not a face, nor does he appear to be making a face turn any time soon. It was the combination of acting like a vulture on Jericho, whacking Edge on the back of the head when he cashed it in, acting like a dick throughout the show and kissing Vickie G that made me come to this conclusion. Just from reading the results it's possible to think he may be making a turn, but in reality, he's not close to turning babyface (or even badass antiface).

I think they shouldn't make him face in his title reign because his whole gimmick reeks of arrogance, that his superior to all of his peers because of his great wrestling ability and that he is always the odds-on favorite in any match he participates in. Does that seem like a good foundation for a face turn? Not exactly. I think he should be first established as great heel before even considering him turning face.

As for his title reign I see that he is gonna hold that belt for 3 months. Hopefully he gets so much heat and improves on the mic that they might consider putting the title around him til' SummerSlam and mainevent against a fellow up and comer.

The common practice for pushing someone is to make them a heel. It is more effective due to the fact that bad guys often elicit greater emotion in viewers. I think Swagger will stay a heel even though Jericho was one too. I am still surprised Swagger is getting this push but it also makes me intrigued to see how he does.

Secretly, I wish for an improbable return of Kurt Angle to show Jasck Swagger a thing or two about being the American Hero gimmick and take that title from him. But even when Angle was a face, he was hated by many. I think if he ever did return though, he would definitely be cast as a face. The hooplah surrounding a comeback for him would have fans cheering on their feet.

I think Jack Swagger turning face would be a horrible idea. He just is not over with the crowd enough to make the change. I also think that the way they are playing him as heel right now though stinks. He is coming off WAY too much like Jericho and not enough of his own persona. He comes out wearing a suit(like jericho) and talks slowly...which I think is to cover his lisp...and the way he tried to gain heat is very much like Jericho. The difference is that Jericho has all the tricks down very good while Swagger needs to find his own way because those tricks I don't feel work for him.
