TNA Impact 5/5/2011 - The Thread (I Think)

I only ever use those in direct response to rhetoric. You'll never see me use that kind of tactic against anyone who is objectively reviewing/discussing something.

I just return pot shots with pot shots.

I know, but it ain't just you. The same way you and SD are claiming that overused rhetoric is used to make anti-TNA arguments, I am saying that the defense (sometimes unprovoked defense as well) is almost always something about WWE. I'm not anti-you guys like some others, but many of you claim to not watch WWE yet take more shots at than people who do. That would be like me taking shots at a WNBA game (because who the fuck watches that?)

All I'm saying is, if you want respect for your opinions, and I'm not directly this at anyone in particular, come up with better reasoning and defense. Whenever I post in the TNA section, I stick to TNA stuff unless the topic is asking me to compare things. You don't actually need to take pot shots and they actually make arguments look weaker.

That's why I proposed "cliched arguments" for "pot shots" as the agreement. Ya'll get some new material, at least the arguments would be new and exciting!

I don't expect them to change what they're doing. My biggest problem is in the execution of what they're doing, or how it's being done.

So you know they are not going to change but you are watching essentially in hope of change. This is basically what I do not get. I know WWE isn't going to change so I do not delude myself into watching with false hope. They have their ways and they are not that appealing to me. Ok, do something else on Mondays instead of repeating how average I find the Miz to be every week.

Take this Velvet Sky/Karen Angle/etc. storyline. I don't mind Kurt Angle looking for a woman to equalize Karen. Sound good to me. However, it's partially ruined when they allow Velvet to run wild on the mic, with zero structure. She is constantly interrupting and that gets in the way of telling the story. Same goes with Ken Anderson, each and every time he speaks. I don't want them to be scripted zombies (like you sometimes find in WWE), but a little structure and discipline couldn't hurt. Mind you, this is just an example, something I notice while watching. I pay attention to detail, and I'm sure a lot of fans do the same.

Anderson and Velvet are two of the most over people in the company. There seem to be plenty of people that enjoy that the mic work in TNA isn't so heavily scripted. They are not going to significantly change this nor should they "improve" Anderson because you find him annoying.

A lack of structure and discipline among the performers, hardly any attention to detail, etc., hurts the quality of the story being told. This is my opinion, I understand that, but I don't seem to be alone in how I feel about this.

Which is fine as your opinion. It is fine that some people on the internet agree with you. Does that mean anything? Not particularly. TNA has a decent audience that tunes in every week that significantly outnumbers the IWC.

Man these LDs are a broken record every week. I will say I loved Bobby Rude's opening promo, Miss Tessmacher's entrance, and Bischoff throwing coffee in the X Division guys faces. At least the X division guys were in the main event, closing out the show. Next week should be big.

While we agree as it relates to the Miz, I am a fan of pro wrestling. I'm not a WWE fan. I'm not a TNA fan. If a wrestling promotion has a national television deal, I'm going to watch. If I think it's awesome, I'm going to continue watching. If I think it stinks, I'm going to hope for improvement, and keep watching.

Everyone is over in the Impact! Zone, and you know it.

But they should leave him where he is because you enjoy it? If TNA were drawing huge numbers, you would be 100% correct.

Decent is the right word. I'm sure they're making some money, and that's great. But they're clearly looking to move above and beyond what they're pulling in now, so maybe changes are needed after all.

Do you have any facts or statistics at all to back that up SD? Because this seems a lot like when you shit on people for saying TNA is probably losing money because they don't have access to their financial numbers. Neither do you. So if you do have those merchandise numbers, let us know, please. Otherwise you're just making shit up.

Does this happen in every TNA LD? Either way as a way to stimulate other conversation and so I can more insight into the show I haven't seen much of in a while and am trying to get back into, I ask this:
Wasn't Ms. Tessmacher head of the knockouts?

Somebody needs to shut this down. Well, they really don't. But in the name of dignity, they should.
