Thoughts on WWE's cryptic tweet? #RestinPieces?

Sure, it's fun to analyze these tweets and dissect them in fine detail to attempt to deduce a logical meaning from all of them, but at the end of the day, on the risk of being a buzzkill, people are once again falling into the trap of overanalyzing something to try to find logic, reason, and meaning in something which simply isn't there. When push comes to shove, I think you can dissect the tweets all you want, but it is simply a set of mysterious tweets to hype the return of the Undertaker, with no deep meaning whatsoever. Never mind analyzing color, or symbols, or whatever. It is simply a return of the Undertaker (as evidenced by the dates) with a whole lot of hype but no true deep hidden meaning.

Look at the supposed Sting vignettes. People nitpicked those to death. People spoke of the style of the trench coat, the type of boots worn in the video, even allegedly hidden words in the smoke at the end of the video. At the end of the day, a mysterious Undertaker return. And no Sting.

How about Jericho's return with all of the numbers and symbols? People dissected those numbers and letters for weeks, assigning all kinds of hidden meaning and logical deductions to them. At the end of the day, as Jericho himself later conceded, there was no meaning whatsoever to the letters and numbers, no code per se. Just a series of mysterious videos with a conglomerate of numbers to keep people guessing and to peak their interest. For a Jericho mysterious return.

How about the next Jericho return? Who was the woman? What did she mean by the various things she said? Was this a darker side of whoever was returning? All of the text was pored over with a fine tooth comb to ascertain some deep dark message or hidden meaning. At the end of it all, a bunch of smoke and mirrors which meant absolutely nothing. There was no woman. There was no darker Jericho. Just yet another mysterious surprise Jericho return.

So knock yourselves out analyzing the bejesus out of these mysterious tweets, but at the end of the day, I simply think it means that the Undertaker is coming back. Again. They probably don't even know themselves yet in what capacity, who he will be facing, whether or not this is his final Wrestlemania, etc., Never mind colors, or dates, or what you see when you look at the tweets long and hard enough. The Undertaker is returning in some capacity to face someone in what may or may not be his final Wrestlemania. End of story.

I finally figured it all out! This maybe just overthinking since I have a lot of free time tonight, but it is a conspiracy theory I am proud of! This is about #RestInPieces

Obviously some background for this theory. In 2011 WWE ran cryptic videos for the return of The Undertaker. They made it obvious who it was, but there was more to it. A second person was in the video, Triple H. The vignettes were a double return.

#RestInPieces is the same case.

The first cryptic tweet to come out was "Broken souls lay beneath his feet. #RestinPieces" Now this quote was obvious to be either Undertaker and Kane, but the picture didn't match the Undertaker at all. It was a picture with the color scheme: red, white, and black. People initially thought Kane, but someone else had that color scheme; Batista.

The next day a second tweet and picture were sent out for the WWE Universe. "“I have taken it upon myself to walk a path where no one else chooses to.” #RestinPieces" With a picture that seems to be obviously from Undertaker's "TX" symbol. This is a direct quote from the Deadman in which he said: "
So I have taken it upon myself to walk a path where no one else chooses to. I draw strength from the spirits of the dead." There is another thing this message could mean though...it means he walks a place where nobody else follows, he walks alone. The lyrics to Batista's theme song: "I walk for miles inside this pit of danger. A place where no one follows me, I walk alone."

On the third day another message was sent out. This message again made it obvious the Undertaker was returning. "Born a survivor 11.22.90 #RestinPieces" With a picture that appears to be the Undertaker's back. November 22, 1990 was the date when The Undertaker debuted as The Deadman at Survivor Series. This made people think he was returning at Survivor Series, but as I argued yesterday WWE wouldn't be posting this stuff so fast just to have a month and a half break before he actually comes back. What PPV would he be able to have a match at though? Hell in a Cell. In 2011, two men had a Hell in a Cell match at Survivor Series. Wanna guess who? Batista and The Undertaker.

The fourth message sent out today was "@Todd_McFarlane will soon give rise to an icon. #RestinPieces" with a picture of Undertaker's fist. At first this may seem confusing what would Todd_McFarlane have to do with anything? After some research I found out he has worked with Marvel as a comic book writer, and one of his characters had appeared in the comics "Guardians of the Galaxy" Well, guess which former WWE superstar is in the upcoming Marvel movie Guardians of the Galaxy? If you guessed Batista you are right.

Therefore, it is my conclusion that the tweets are obviously The Undertaker, but there is more to it. It will also be the return of The Animal Batista! There is two things that will come out of this, fans would be super excited for a double return, and promoting. 2k14 has a special Undertaker edition of the game. Undertaker would return to boost its sales, have a match at Hell in a Cell and disappear after the game's release until WM season. Batista could start promoting his movie early by having a match at HiaC and become a part timer up until the movies release.

Tl;DR Batista is returning as well as the Deadman.

interesting idea. very possible. but it could also relate to the fact that Todd McFarlane is also famous for his line of toys and statues of famous comic and fiction characters. Hell, he's even done lines for the NHL and NFL. So possible it could be that he's been contracted to do a new line of WWE figures and that Taker's is going to be the first one in the series.

Didn't they just stop their work with JAKKS or whoever that were making the wwe line of figures? So this would also make a lot of sense.

It's fun to dissect things. WWE gives the fans something to do, I am going to do it. It probably is just a thing for Batista and I am overthinking everything, but I still had fun putting the pieces together.

And WWE figures haven't been with Jakks in forever, they have been working with Mattel who is still coming out with toys, just released series 32 of basic toys so I don't think they stopped partnering.

I just read something at wrestlinginc.com in which another Tweet has been sent out. This one features a picture of Undertaker's gloved right hand and the Tweet reads:

"@Todd_McFarlane will soon give rise to an icon. #RestinPieces"

Now, Todd McFarlane is a well known comic book writer and artist best known for helping create Image Comics and for the creation of the occult anti-hero Spawn. McFarlane is known for very dark, violent characters or adding a much darker spin to established characters he worked on during the 80s & early 90s such as Spider-Man and The Incredible Hulk.

So, at least now, it SEEMS as though WWE is hinting at an Undertaker comic book project helmed by Todd McFarlane. WWE and the defunct comic book company Chaos! had a relationship in the late 90s and early 2000s in which several WWE wrestlers had their own comic book series. The most well known of which was The Undertaker.

The plot was a little hokey all in all, but featured some great looking artwork. The idea of the comics was that Taker was the ruler of a section of Hell known as Stygian, which was essentially Hell's prison and was reserved for the very worst of deceased souls. At one point, a being known as The Embalmer gained access to Taker's realm and fought him for possession of three books within the realm that contained prophecies written by a being known as the Death Scribe. The prophecy stated that Taker would one day absorb the powers of all three books. These books are, basically, the history of everything that is, was and ever will be in existence. The controller of this power could call down the End of Days and recreate the next universe in their own image. The fight between Taker & The Embalmer set the prophecy in motion, ending in a draw. The Embalmer managed to get one book while Taker secured another and was banished from Stygian, somehow, and wound up being born to mortal parents about 500 years later in the 20th century. This is where things start to get hokey since the WWF was introduced into this as sort of a battleground and the backstory of Kane & Paul Bearer was made part of the overall plot. Bearer, in the series, is depicted as a prison doctor in the 19th century who dabbled in the occult and performed experiments on patients, resulting in him opening a portal to Stygian. He got hold of one of the books, at some point, and entered into the fray himself, wanting to control the books powers and all that. Kane was introduced as a silent wild card who was never truly on anyone's side. He was still Taker's brother & Bearer's son. Kane also had a half sister, Jezebelle, whom he loved, and was forced at various times by Bearer & The Embalmer to work for them after they each managed to capture her. Anywho, the whole thing ends when Taker, Kane & Bearer join forces and manage to destroy The Embalmer but at the cost of their immortality and much of their various powers. Taker & Bearer would them embark on separate missions at the end of the story arc to look for the books, which were scattered throughout the world. The final appearance of the Taker comic was a in a Halloween one shot issue set during Taker's "Ministry of Darkness" days. Taker was written as having found one of the three books and fought with Samhain, who in this case was the Lord of the Dead and had captured the souls of Taker's mortal parents. Samhain, in real life, is the name of a Gaelic festival celebrated from sunset October 31 - sunset November 1.

But that was pretty much it for Taker's comic book career but, as I said, McFarlane's involvement in whatever this whole thing is about points to a comic book project.

Its Sting. Just kidding I think its Taker. From what I can tell they are building towards a Wyatt family vs Brothers of Destruction match for survivor series. I would rather see Shield vs BOD but whatever this match might be good too.

how about someone acknowledge that out of all possible theories, i was the first to be close to right. I said it was a toyline, but it's going to be a line of 'statues'. not much difference as todd's work is usually fully articulated and useable as action figures, but with much better detail and much better physical makeup then the cheaper figures they release.
