There's still hope for Bret

I can't tell you how much I disagree with the person who created this thread. I was in Nashville last week at RAW. I am a huge Hitman fan so it was wonderful seeing Bret back. That being said I had some major concerns how how slow and old he looked last week and this week he looked even worse.

I realize Bret has been through a lot but he looks scared to go all the way with what he wants to do. Obviously Bret's health is the most important thing, but he looks like he is trying to do something his body just won't let him do.

I realize the way stuff is playing out there is definitely going to be a match with Vince at WM. I just think that if the Hitman is in as bad as shape as he looks and can't be touched you need a real ring general in there with him during his match, not Vince McMahon.

I don't know if he and Shawn could ever trust each other in the ring, but he or HHH would have been a perfect canadite to put Bret over and carry him if needed. I was jacked about this fued prior to Bret coming back, but unless dramatically change before WM I hate that my last memories of one of my favorite wrestlers is going to be that he shouldn't have come back.

I think people are putting too much emphasis on the "wrestling" aspect of the Bret Hart/Vince McMahon feud. We all know that Bret Hart isn't physically what he once was, Bret Hart himself will be the first one to admit that. Whatever Bret Hart has in the gas tank is really all that's needed because his opponent is Vince McMahon.

The whole culmination of the Hart/McMahon feud is to have Bret Hart beat the snot out of Vince at the biggest wrestling ppv of the year. Vince isn't some great wrestler after all and will probably wind up taking most of the shots and bumps in the match. Most fans have absolutely no problem with that at all. Vince McMahon getting beaten up by someone has always been a good draw. Some of the brightest moments in the careers of HBK, Triple H, The Undertaker, Kane, Mick Foley, The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin and others have come about by whoopin' up on Vince McMahon. The crowd has always eaten it up just like most viewers on Raw are eating it up right now.

However, anybody that was expecting Bret Hart to be like the Hitman of old really hasn't been paying attention. The wear and tear of the road took its tole on Bret Hart, he's 52 years old and he's had a stroke. I can't emphasize how devestating a stroke can be and the fact that Bret Hart even wants to do anything like this is kind of spectacular really. Bret Hart isn't gonna be wrestling Batista or Sheamus or Randy Orton or anyone like that. Bret Hart knows, as do we all, those days are long gone.

Yes he looked better this week, but only slightly. For a second I was even wondering if he was going to get back up when he fell over when he was wrecking the electrical equipment.

Maybe he is making steady progress but he will have known about this comeback for a good while so I don't think the 7 days since his last appearance could have made that much difference.

Also have to say the security gaurds did well to make him look better.

I've tended to be slightly nervous when watching the Hitman over the last couple of weeks but thats only becasue I don't want my childhood hero look stupid and lose his dignity.

I thought Bret looked way too old to be in the ring and I personally don't find the storyline as captivating as it should be, I mean it's been twelve years and you know they have made up since then so I just can't believe they have any real hate towards each other anymore, maybe 6 or 7 years ago this would have been the most interesting match at Wrestlemania, but now I can't bring myself to watch two old men go at it in the ring, it's kinda boring to me... Now a Cena v. Batista match would be a good one but not Vince v. Bret.

Sort of agree with this. I really want Bret to be able to work a match on his own and his punches/kicks looked pretty good, but he wasn't moving THAT well and fell over pulling something down. Okay, it could've happened to anyone, but he just looks his age, and looking at the two of them, Vince is more mobile than Bret, and it really shouldn't be that way, so Cena/Bret v. Batista/Vince will do me, I still think WWE is unsure over what to do seeing as they are crossing the two storylines over.

Its like i told you all before...Bret had to work off ring rust, and so he will look better and better each week. I for one feel like Bret knew he was coming back sometime in 2009, so he started working out and training again...because some of his pics from mid 2009 he looked reallly bad....solid gray hair...very out of shape, etc...there is a night and day difference in him.

There's no doubt in my mind now that Bret is going to wrestle Vince like only the hitman can!

Every week there's a new thread giving minute by minute analyses of how Bret and Vince are doing, and every time there is a massive shift in popular opinion. Bret Hart probably hasn't done anything hugely physical for about 8 years until he signed in December. Obviously, he is going to be continuously bringing himself up to condition and we'll see in due course if he's got a full match in him, which is what everyone wants to see, except for those that are desperate for this to fail without giving it a chance. I'm guilty of this incessant reassessment myself, but I think barring some sort of new medical issue, the way that segment was booked would lead me to believe a street fight at Mania is a near certainty.

I think there is still hope for Bret after last night. I just hope Bret is healthy enough to have this match. Anyone can throw chairs and tables, so maybe Bret can have a decent street fight with Vince. I just hope Bret doesn't injure himself more because when he fell last night trying to bring down the amplifier, I seriously thought he could of been hurt.

Things are looking up for Bret and this feud though.

To be honest, I was cringing watching that last night. As much as I'd like him to be able to perform, I was genuinely embarrassed for him, so much so that I could barely watch. I just hate seeing people make a c*nt of themselves. When Bret was destroying everything and he fell over... oh dear.

If he gets him sorted out by Wrestlemania then fair enough, but currently I feel a bit uncomfortable watching all of this.

I also think it's a bit of a shame the reaction Bret's been getting from the crowd... it's almost as if they have no idea who he is, which is understandable considering they're almost all weans.

Maybe this storyline is a few years too late.

Okay so its not really noteworthy, but over at pwinsider, they are talking about the possibility of Bret being legitimatley screwed in his match at wrestlemania. Can you believe that?? Do you think Vince hates Bret that much that he would really have that done to him? What do you think the fallout of such a move would be???

^^^^ What do you mean legit screwed? as in screwed again? Vince wouldnt be that moronic, he tried for years to make peace with Bret, now that hes got him back on WWE programming I doubt he'd do it again, and I doubt Bret would put himself in the position to be screwed again.

as for last night, big improvement on the part of the Hitman, he looked alot sharper than last week, sure he fell over pulling down that thing, could have happened to anyone, I remember Taker slipping when he had a PPV match in 2004 against JBL, on top of a car bonnet, these things happen.

Bret isn't stupid, he knows himself what he has in him match-wise. I thought last night was played out really well. I do wish he would have got on the mic though whilst he was destroying all the equipment.

Bret seemed to have got a good reception from the crowd last night, Bret was always big in New York, so I reckon that next time there in NY and if Bret is still on the show, he will get a huge reception.

So last night was a thumbs up from me.

Actually, yeah, according to reports, prior to Mr. Hart's return.. he was training and trying to get back into shape, but he's having problems due to a back injury he suffered a while ago.
