There's still hope for Bret

OK. So after last week when Batista attacked Bret and Bret couldn't sell anything to save his life I was worried. But, I was more worried about Bret's 'offense'. His punches to Vince were a bit lackluster.

However this week on Raw when Bret attacked Vince, he showed me that he can give a decent fight. His offense looked MUCH better, and it even seemed like he was moving a bit faster. I say go for the 1 on 1 match at Wrestlemania, obviously not a wrestling match, but a street fight will do. Bret's still got something!!! So, after Raw this week do you all think Bret can pull it off and have a good fight at Wrestlemania, or do you think it'll totally fail?? Which I really don't think it will.

Yes I definitely think he can. Tedy Bruschi came back from a stroke to play pro football for 3 more seasons after 1.5 years of rehab. Quarterbacks come back from concussions to keep playing as well (Ben Roethlesburger, Kurt Warner). If he takes it easy with the bumps he could still put on one helluva street fight.

I don't think so. Bret is done, but im a big Bret fan so im hoping they can come up with something good at WM. Like Cena said on Raw, it's about the moment, Vince/Bret isn't gonna be about the technical wrestling, it's going to be about Bret finally getting revenge on Vince after 12 years.

I agree. I mean I didn't really have a problem with Bret's punches last week because it looked like a hockey fight lol. But this week bret threw some classic Hitman punches at security and looked pretty good. He looked a lot more loose. By the time Mania rolls around I think he will look even better. Either way, I could care less. I'm so happy to see him again. His mere appearance on the show is all I ever hoped to see again. Another match is just the icing on the cake.

I also was worried at first that Bret couldnt possibly wrestle in any capacity, but after this week he seems to be getting some of the old hitman back. He looks much better than he did on Jan 4th. His punches tonight looked good and he was moving well. Vince was fantastic tonight also, the "You deserrrveee to beee screeewed" line was classic. All in all this is really getting interesting.

first off we will see Bret and Vince at wrestlemania no matter what cause if bret and vince both dont think that bret can handle a one on one match the Cena/Batista fued that is starting is there to make it a tag team match. but beyond that I believe that Hart can still put on a decent 8-10 minute brutal beating of Vince in a street fight. they would just have to be careful of any major bumps on Harts side. If Vince really wants to make things right with "The Hitman" after all these years we will get a 10 minute or so 1on1 match that leaves Vince broken and hopefully bleeding at the end of the match

I also thought that as well, but as always, the good ole' Hitman proved me wrong (lol). RAW was pretty fucking good tonight, and it keeps getting better every week. Cena had another good promo, DX lost the titles (which I was not expecting), Christian showed up (another good surprise), HBK says his career is over (hopefully not). Full of good stuff. Although I didn't like the fact that Sheamus won against Christian. Other than that I was very pleased. I want to thank the creative team for pulling their heads out of their asses (lol). :lmao:

Uh I hope the Sidious one himself sees this thread and this response, last week everybody was counting the hitman out saying his return was a no-to good return, me and some other dude were the only ones that believed in Bret and said he will be ready to wrestle at Mania. You see when you haven't done any type of sport activity in almost 8 years you have to get your swag back, and trust me Bret will get his swag back by mania, some guy said ten minutes, well i see Bret going at least 15 minutes of whooping Mcmahons ass, and i think he is in better shape then he is letting us believe, but all in all Bret Hart will wrestle a hell of a match at wrestlemania 26 and after that, we will see more of the Hitman, and to tell the truth i think he could get back in enough shape to wrestle more matches than just good ol Vince if he stays around the ring that is.

Im just happy Bret is back. Bret and Vince at WM will not be a technical wrestling match i can tell you that for a fact since Bret can barely move. he even fell down tonight when he was slamming stuff around.

I thought Bret looked way too old to be in the ring and I personally don't find the storyline as captivating as it should be, I mean it's been twelve years and you know they have made up since then so I just can't believe they have any real hate towards each other anymore, maybe 6 or 7 years ago this would have been the most interesting match at Wrestlemania, but now I can't bring myself to watch two old men go at it in the ring, it's kinda boring to me... Now a Cena v. Batista match would be a good one but not Vince v. Bret.

Rest assured, I did see this thread, and I saw your post and corrected about 10 spelling mistakes in it alone.

Yes, Bret looked good tonight ... clearly a lot better than last week. I have no doubt in my mind that WWE knew that Bret's offense looked terrible last week, and this issue was addressed. We even saw Security guards fly halfway across the ring trying to sell for the guy.

So he looks in better shape, and if he works on his conditioning, he might be in suitable shape for Mania. I would much rather see a Singles Match between he and McMahon and John Cena vs Batista in an entirely different match ... as opposed to one tag match featuring all 4 of them. But that will depend on Bret, obviously.

If he is not in the condition to do a Singles match, it will be a huge letdown for everyone, as his return already has been for a lot of people. However, much of this has been WWE's fault with the way they booked the guy since he began.

So is there hope left? Yeah, there's still hope after seeing his physicality improve in the ring. We'll see if he is good enough for a Singles match though, and hopefully he will be.

Im just happy Bret is back. Bret and Vince at WM will not be a technical wrestling match i can tell you that for a fact since Bret can barely move. he even fell down tonight when he was slamming stuff around.

That's the only kind of match Vince will wrestle anyway, since Vince can't pull off a regular Singles match on his own.

I think he CAN and WILL have a decent match. Of course, this won't be anywhere close to the classic matches he had at WrestleMania's past, BUT normally a match with Vince McMahon means lots of spots, something of course, a street fight can bring. Besides, have a straight wrestling match would be silly, all things considered.

Even tho I don't think that he looked bad last week I agree Bret looked a lot smoother tonight. We're still 7 weeks away from Mania and if there is that much improvement in one week then i'm thinking the Hitman will be ready to go come WM. I'm excited to see where this feud goes...

Bret coming out of nowhere tonight and beating Vince and the security gaurds was great! Very unexpected. But.... Did we really need to see a repeat of the aftermath from the 1997 Montreal Screw Job?! I mean, come on! Bret Hart is better than this! He was so outraged that as he was going around the arena throwing monitors on the floor, wrecking things... he could barely keep his strength! Plus I know, he's better than this act! He is 52 years old and should act like it!

I'm sorry, but I'll say it again:

No one is going to pay money to see a wrestler who is barely able to stand up, fight at Wrestlemania. Yes, it does hold the suspence...but.... it makes fun of the wrestler who was great back in his hayday. This is why I'm hoping, that Bret Hart is actually training in the ring. I'm sorry, but if he is going to tag team with Cena, I will not pay for a pay pre view to see Cena steal Bret Hart's spot light. I want Bret Hart to be in a match alone with Vince, for him to be in shape, able to hold his own against Vince.... And have Bret Hart leave the ring to the sight of Vince Machan in the ring unable to move, covered in blood!

The funny thing about this is, what if bret's match against vince steals the show! That would be funny, just like Ricky steamboat and Randy savage stole the show at WM3! I am sure bret won't be rusted by WM and I hope it's a singles match! But a tag team match wouldn't be so bad either, give it a chance everyone!

im 50/50 on the whole deal, Im know he can still throw a punch but what im worried about is his balance mentally and physically a stroke isnt the same for everyone. and like he said he had to learn to walk again. Im sure he is working his but off to get it together, wish he and vince would have agreed on a deal early 09 so he could have been training and working his body.

I hope they can find a way to put Bret Hart into a match that allows him to go out with a bang. I think it will take Vince taking a huge bump to make it memorable.

I was never a huge fan but one thing he did do for the WWF in the day was when he was the champ there was a good chance that the championship match would be the best match of the night. With Hogan and Warrior back in the day that never was the case. The same match over and over got old and Bret Hart did actually have wrestling moves. Unfortunately there were only so many times he could wrestle Michaels and Undertaker and we did not see enough of him against Hennig.

First of all, another excellent Raw. The road to Wrestlemania has always been exciting, and thus far the WWE hasn't disappointed. These past few weeks have been great. As for Bret Hart, I have to give him a pointless AMH two thumbs up because he was excellent tonight. Although, I too was one of those who defended him last week saying it was a hockey fight as opposed to your more traditional wrestling haymakers.

But tonight he seemed to be closer to his old Hitman self. The surprise entrance (I would have been pissed had he not showed up by the way) was excellent. The drama between he and McMahon. McMahon taunting him behind the security guards was great. A few weeks ago a thread was started questioning whether McMahon had lost his mic skills, well tonight they were all proven to be wrong, as he was dead on tonight. I'm greatly invested in this feud now, and am even looking forward to next weeks Raw. Something I've been feeling a lot lately, even with Smackdown.

I know now, without a doubt, this will be a singles match. Which is what I was hoping it'd be. The tag match didn't quite have the emotional appeal as a final battle between such heated foes. These two won't have a five star classic wrestling match. But I can guaran-damn-tee, they will have one HELL of a fight. Counting down the days to Wrestlemania, counting down the days to Wrestlemania....

Bret coming out of nowhere tonight and beating Vince and the security gaurds was great! Very unexpected.

So you really didn't think Bret would be there tonight just because they said he was banned? Cena pretty much gave it away with "There's someone else you have to say it too". That right there should have told everyone that Bret was gonna show up. So no, not unexpected, very expected, but very well pulled off.

Yeah we did, because if you are telling me that you would not pissed and outraged after finding out you are not getting the one last match you wanted, is stupid of you. I'd be throwing things around as well, even at 52 years old. He's waited 12 years to get at Vince, yet Vince slithers away, so yeah Bret is gonna throw things around. I'm also sorry you see a slip and slight fall as not able to keep his strength. Everyone slips up. For a guy who's actually had two strokes and the most severe grade of concussion you can have, he's in really good shape, better than half the other legends and hall of famers.

I'm sorry, but I'll say it again:

Yeah a lot of people will pay to see Bret Hart vs. Vince McMahon at WM. I am. So I expect a four star match out the two? Hell no, Vince has never been able to put one on and Bret won't be able to as well, but that's fine, because it's not going to be a wrestling match. It'll be a fight and both of them can fight still. All this match needs to be a classic is what is already has, history, passion, intensity, it's been a long time coming and it is very real and personal. So this match will work. The only thing I can agree with you on in this post is I don't want to see Cena in the match nor do I want to see Batista either. As for the rest of this post, it's garbage.

Bret.

Well, then it's a good thing Vince isn't ONLY worried about what new school wrestling fans want, because if he was, we would be in trouble. Just because Bret has done some things with the WWE since 97, it doesn't mean he and Vince are buddy-buddy. I guarantee Bret still thinks Vince is a scumbag. You think the fight is going to be boring? You probably never liked Bret. Actually, you probably didn't watch him back then. You probably like big spot fests, and guys like THE Brian Kendrick. I bet he's real entertaining, right? So, you don't want to see Bret and Vince (two old guys, with maybe the greatest REAL rivalry in the history of pro wrestling), but you want Batista and Cena? Two of the WORST in ring competitors in pro wrestling? Sorry, I'm rambling.

But yeah, there is definitely hope for this. Bret looked much better, and healthy. While I would love to see this match, all the history and everything, I wouldn't want to see Bret hurt himself just to have this match. Personally, I don't want John Cena within 500 yards of Bret Hart (wouldn't want Bret to catch that I-Suck-big-balls disease cena has), but if Bret can't go, I would rather see him have a guy wrestle for him, as opposed to him actually risking his life.

Why the hell is everyone worried about Bret not being able to stand? Making him sound like a cripple. The stroke was a long time ago and he's doing much better now. Nobody expects him to have a great match..nobody is expecting a Bret/Owen 5 star classic. Just the fact that Bret is competing at Wrestlemania against Vince McMahon is good enough. Who would have EVER thought this?! There won't be a stupid tag match...WWE isn't even thinking that. They're obviously booking Cena/Batista as another headliner for the show which will make it that much bigger. Vince is going all out this year....his company needs a show of this magnitude to bring the fans back.

Bret Hart will finish Vince off the same way he did in his last Wrestlemania appearance against Steve Austin....lying in a puddle of blood after passing out to the sharpshooter.

After 12 years Bret gets his revenge. Perfect storybook ending. What else do you want?

Actually I for one can't stand Cena or Batista because they do really suck it up in the ring, I put them in the discussion because they are the ones that have been put in this feud by the WWE, I just meant I would rather see those two in a match than a fifty-something Bret and a sixty-something Vince.. Bret looks horrible and I don't think I could watch him have a street fight or whatever w/ Vince. I personally want to remember Bret as "The Hitman" not the old guy who looks like he should be in a wheelchair not a wrestling ring. Like I said before a few years ago this match would be a main event no problem but they are both too old and too much time has passed between now and the screwjob... and btw Bret was one of my favorites before he went to WCW.

You know what? I was laughing the whole time as I read the quote you wrote towards me. You are stupid, my friend. I am, just stating facts here. Indeed, I would've been pissed like Bret Hart if Vince said "no" to a match with me, but I would've handled it in a better way than what he did. I would get back on the mic, and demand he come back to the ring, if not I would make his life a "living hell" Thereby sitting up the notion that I would be back week after week to (maybe throw a little blackmail into the picture) toment him to the point that he does give him a match, thereby showing the audience a side of Bret Hart they've never seen. Bret doing what he did, made him look like a little boy throwing a hissy fit cause he didn't get what he wanted.

Yes I am a huge fan, but... I will not waste my money to see a man such Bret Hart be Humilated on TV by a jerk such as Vince Machan! All I want is to see Bret Hart wrestle and kick Vince's ass, and do it with class and style! (like back in his hayday) I don't want to see him being kicked around all the time by Vince, and then at the last moment Bret wakes up and wins the match! Boring, been done to many times when it comes to former wrestlers who come back for one last fight.

How about Bret Hart kicks Vinces ass althrought the match, leaving vince on the ground and out of breath, and then Bret wins the match:):) Now that is how it should end. Great closure for the montreal screw job don't you think? The other way around, not such good closure for Bret Hart or us Canadain fans if you know what I mean?

What's that you don't? Then you're dumber than I thought.

The sad thing of this is; I am 28 years old. In 1997 I paid my dallor to watch Savior Series. And I was sadden to see Bret Hart act this way. That's why I didn't want to see a reminder of it tonight on Raw. Plus, some of my family members back in Calagry know Bret Hart personlily. I just don't want to see this great man get hurt.

It's possible that Bret Hart's punches were a little bit lackluster because Bret probably hasn't seen action in near 10 years. Now that he knows nothing's gonna happen, he probably got a more confident, hence why we saw Bret punch the way he did tonight.

The feud is slowly but surely building up steam. I'm with the group that says that Bret and Vince will go at it one on one. If Batista still is supposed to be a big part of this feud, I see him doing a run in and that's it. Same with John Cena to defend Bret. Heck, Shawn Michaels might come out and punch Vince or something.

Who knows? Maybe this year's WrestleMania will actually be memorable this time around.

Shawn Micheals saving Bret -Great, but not needed.
Vince and Bret Only - All For it. (Just as long as Bret wins).

That's all I want to see. Period.

And this will be as Cena mentioned tonight, A wrestlemania that will go down in history. And contrary to belief I will watch (if I can afford it), even though I said I wouldn't. Just to show my support to the man. However, I may leave the room, if I see something I don't like.
