Ghostbusters isn't really a kids movie.

I felt it was when I was a kid and the merchandising and subsequent tie ins like the Marvel comics and cartoon tv show really say otherwise. Plus it gets shown on Sky Family when Sky Movies have the rights.

It's well known that Dan Aykroyd's original concept was more adult orientated but Columbia decided to make it more family friendly to open up the potential market. The only real adult moment that remains is the Ray wet dream sequence that most kids at that time didn't get anyway.

In my mind, Ghostbusters is not a kids film. As I child I would hide behind the sofa because I was shit scared of Goza, no kidding. I'm fine now, but definitely not a kids film.

But kids entertainment through the years has contained scares and unsettling moments from the Brothers Grimm & Roald Dahl right through to the Wizard of Oz and the movies of Disney.
