The WrestleZone Tournament Has Begun

When was Taker EVER the number two guy? I'm not even sure I'd put Taker at number three at any point during his career.

Taker has had the advantage of playing the top heel to the three biggest babyfaces in the history of wrestling in Hogan(twice), Austin, and The Rock. If that doesn't make him the #2 guy in the company behind those names at the time, I don't know what does.

And, if I recall correctly, he and Shawn Michaels main evented two PPV events where neither one of them were even the champion. Three if they were the main event at Ground Zero, but I can't remember if they were or were not.

I think you're selling Taker short a little bit.

His original reign of terror with Hogan is the only time I'd put him within the top 3 is in the mid 90s... maybe. Of course, any year that HBK and Bret Hart were wrestling immediately pushes him back a few spots.

I don't care if they main evented Wrestlemania, that doesn't make him one of the top guys. He's not even in the top five anymore. Cena, Edge, Orton, Triple H, and Miz are all above him this year, and last year you could simply swap out Miz for Batista.

No, I respect Undertaker and everything he has given to wrestling, but you're severely overrating him.

He was probably the #2 guy for a period of a month in 2002, just behind Triple H (May-June). Hogan's nostalgia was pretty much over, Rock wasn't back yet and Lesnar hadn't achieved King of the Ring yet. Plus Taker had JUST captured the Undisputed belt.

So he wasn't the top heel and the #2 guy in the company when he was with the Ministry?

Come the fuck on.

There was a dude called Vince McMahon around that time... he was pretty much universally hated. And both Stone Cold and The Rock were doing great around that time, so I'd say he's at the very most number 3.

Rock was gone and returned, only to put Lesnar over. Austin was not the big star he was, couple that with him departing within weeks and Vince was off TV pretty much straight after Taker won the belt.

So he's been the number 2 guy for one month out of a 20+ year career? That's hilarious. Kurt Angle has been the number 2 guy in the WWE for longer than that, and arguably the number 1 or 2 guy in TNA for much longer than that.

We've already agreed that he was the number 2 guy against Hogan(twice).

I still say that he was the number 2 guy in the company during much of '97(won the title at WM 13, HIAC at Badd Blood, and Kane had just came in) and much of 1999. Idk how we could prove it or not.

Also, during his feud with Lesnar, it could be argued that he was the #2 or #3 guy in the company.

Taker has been damn close to the top of the company during much of his career.

When it comes to Taker he's somebody who's never been designed/groomed for that top spot, but more of a special attraction, and that's been where he's slotted in ever since he debuted.

EDIT: Oh and for the record, I'm voting for Angle.

Almost being the top guy in the company does not make him better than Angle in anyway shape or form.

No offense, but I feel Randy's royally fucked. Rock's return recently has brought him a wave of support that I think'll carry him through until the final four.

I want to see Randy win really badly, but Funkay may have hit the nail on the head here. Unless people can catch some of that Macho Madness and snap into a Slim Jim, I think Rock's recent return is going to make him to popular. Shawn rode a wave of popularity following his retirement last year, it makes sense that Rock would receive a similar push due to his return.

Damn it. I thought you were arguing for Taker. A-hole.

I never said it did. Somehow, though, we got on this discussion on if Taker was a draw or not.

How about we argue less about Undertaker and Angle and more about Randy Savage winning his match against The Rock.

I'm sorry but I feel that Savage doesn't have a chance in this one. It will not be viewed objectively.

I'll respond to you later, ST.

Yeah, Rocky has a huge advantage due to the amount of people that will vote for him no matter what.

Thanks for the vote of confidence guys! No matter what though, I'm still going to have hope that Randy wins this and although Rocky's recent return might impact the voting somehow, I hope it doesn't help by much.
