The WrestleZone Tournament Has Begun

Nobody ever claimed that the system was fool-proof. Hell, Nate is going to vote by boot size in the final four. Enough people vote by who they think would actually win to make the tournament worthwhile and fun.

Oh don't worry, I agree with that. I myself said that Robert Roode should go over HBK with some ridiculous argument. Now of course I actually voted HBK but I've no problem with trying to stir things up and trying to make people think before hitting the button. Only problem when your doing it to justify your choice which is based on favouritism. But as you can't see where people's allegiance actually lies the two votes are worth the same so hey ho, I'll let it go.

In fact I'm going to aim to produce some more jaw-droppingly stupid arguments going against the grain 'fore the tournament is done, part of the fun.

Muta vs. Funk is a great match. If I knew anything about Japanese wrestling I'm sure I could come up with a good argument for Funk over Muta, but since I only know about American wrestling, all I can do is argue for our boy Terry.

The match I'm most torn over is Kane vs. Mick Foley. I like Foley a lot more than Kane, but at the top of both their careers, I don't see Foley being able to handle Big Red.

muta vs funk is tough for me as well.

if i was voting based on kayfabe\booking, tastycles would have made me wanna change my vote in batista\warrior. hes a tough bastard & somehow i got way more into defending this match than i really cared to. i wouldnt pay to see that match, so dont kno why i cared other than i think batista wouldnt let the dingo warrior jump on him for a 3 count.

thus, voting with using as little kayfabe influence as possible, makes some arguments difficult. vince should just say 'fuck it' once in a while & let the guys leave it all in the ring. in kayfabe land, if so chosen, one could book santino over john cena @ WM for the title. Sure it would be fantastic to see & highly entertaining, but in no-way believable.

An abortion of justice is taking place in the Mysterio vs. Hennig match. My man Rey Rey continues to be the most underrated wrestler ever.

There's no shame in losing to Hennig. I like Rey and all, but he's not beating Mr. Perfect.

Glad to see Funk running over Muta. As of right now, it looks like he'll be outlasting Orton in the tournament as Orton is losing fairly heavily to CM Punk. That, boys and girls, is what we call justice.

I'm with you Coco, no reason that Rey couldn't beat Hennig. He's a far more successful wrestler in reality and in kayfabe as well, so these Hennig arguments make no sense to me. People seriously overrate the FUCK out of Hennig, he was useless past 1993 and even when he was on top he was never the best worker in the company.

Well, at least I got an excuse to say testy. It sounds like teste, and that amuses me. Yes, I'm 7 years old on the inside.

Let's cut through the shit: Perfect is just another cocky blond heel who happened to get saddled with a gimmick that made him stand out. If he hadn't gotten the shtick he did, he'd just be another Dolph Ziggler looking fellow who gets kicked in his leg and follows it up with a fancy bump on his head. Simple as. I like Perfect as much as the next guy, but he's not Mysterio.

And Rey was?
Depending on the year, absolutely.

Honestly if it wasn't for the Bret-Perfect match at Summerslam 1991, I doubt people would look back as fondly on Hennig as they do now. Whereas Rey, even with shit knees and far past his prime right now can still work a better match than 90% of the roster. Fuck I'll take the Rey-JoMo IC title match from Smackdown 2 years ago or any of the Rey-Jericho matches from around then over most of Hennig's career, besides the Bockwinkel feud.

But, X -- Surely we have to honor the departed. Unless Eddie Guerrero is the deceased in question. He's more contemporary than Hennig, so praising that dead guy just makes you look stupid.

HUSH YOU! Fisherman's suplexes are better than flippy-flips! Flippy-flips aren't even wrasslin'!

I think I'm just about caught up in the 2nd round, but damn, there be some stupidity flying high and fancy free in this here tourney.

There are some nasty matches tonight. Some are straight squashes (Lesnar/Rude, Pillman/Vader) and some are incredibly tough (HHH vs. Brisco, Race vs. Sammartino).
