The Worst Raw of The Past Ten Years?

Yeah, saying it's the worst Raw in a decade is a big example of hyperbole. Off the top of my head, the worst Raw was, I think, the December 21, 2009 episode. It was mostly 2 hours of lousy promo segments, cheap comedy skits and maybe 5 minutes of wrestling if that. The main event was supposed to be DX vs. Jeri-Show for the tag titles, a match I'd been looking forward to, but Trips gets them DQ'd purposely about 30 seconds in by kicking the ref in the nuts just to deny Jeri-Show their title rematch. From top to bottom, that was the worst episode of Raw I've seen. I wasn't wild about last night's show, but at least it did have some good moments.

I thought it started off well, I enjoyed the first half hour or so especially. It differed so much from the standard wrestling program format that we're so used to seeing. The six man tag was fun while it lasted, Mark Henry delivered again, his match with Orton was decent while it lasted, Cody Rhodes looking as though he's going to have a full on feud with Orton might work and it was nice to see Miz & R-Truth back. The follow up to the walk out last week just fell flat and there was so much chaotic booking that I thought I was watching TNA at times. Matches being interrupted & stopped, being changed and altered right in the middle of them, big returns & "surprises" that seem to be done just for the utter sake of shock value, etc.

For me, however, Raw has been consistently good. I've really enjoyed Raw, overall, but tonight just didn't click. As long as last night doesn't become the norm for Raw, things should bounce back nicely next week. The worst Raw in 10 years? Not a chance, but definitely the worst Raw of 2011.

Can't work the crowd? I may be going deaf but Ace has been getting the absolute shit boo'd out of him everytime he goes out to ring or is in a promo. From my understanding of wrestling, that would make him a good 'heel', correct?

As for the topic, dude if u could have written it any better then you would be on the WWE payroll as a writer. If you don't want to watch it anymore because you're a little upset about RAW then don't. All this crap I read about fans slowly boycotting WWE or 'WWPGE' as they call it is absolute rubbish. Stop posting WWE related things if you hate it so much, go and watch TNA and enjoy getting your tits and ass there because you obviously don't get it in real life if it means that much to you.

That was instant hatred because their boy Triple H was removed. Did you watch the segment where he interrupted the match to announce the return of Miz and R-Truth. What should have been a big moment in the night was a boring nugget.

Your "If you could have written it any better..." comment is just dumb. Just because I don't work for WWE or ever applied for a job, doesn't mean my ideas are any less than people that work there. Hell, I've seen good ideas from people on the forums who have never applied or worked for WWE. If you want to vent about people, I will too and how stupid that comment is.

Hating 1 show doesn't make me hate WWE or WWEPG. Don't direct that comment about switching off WWE tv at me. I didn't say that smartass. Have knowledge before you actually make a comment like that. I was angry about how bad the show was with Laurinaitis as the face of a bad episode. If you really have a problem with my comments, fine I except that. Have actual knowledge and make viable complaints instead of general annoyance with other people on the forums that you apply to me.

This is complete BS! The opening to Raw was good and entertaining, Hell it had me entertained. The poorest thing about it was Johnny ace being named GM, i honestly thought we were going to hear the car crash sound and good old Foley was gonna come out, Laurinitis has nothing going for him on tv and should in my opinion have been kept backstage. He's lousy on the mic and cant act worth a shit, when he appeared on the stage he looked embarassed. Also what was with Rhodes beating up 2 wrestlers after their matches? I understand he has a thing going with Orton and that hes in the "Lawsuit" stable but it made no sense to have 1 guy attack 2 superstars.

We've had worse Raw's this year. The WWE All-Stars night was pretty terrible, if I remember correctly. I hate episodes where there is absolutely no storyline development. I believe that one was strictly matches all night long with no meaning, because they were trying to promote that dumb video game.
I know there have been similar ones like that in the past year, but that's the only one that comes to mind.

But by no standard could it be considered the worst in 10 years. I thought it was average, at worst.

The first half was absolutely awesome in my opinion, i enjoyed it, it made me remember, think and laugh. The 2nd half was ok, but worst RAW in 10 yrs? I dont even think its the worst of 2011 either, it wasnt bad, it just didnt slot together as nicely as i'd hoped.

I'm so glad all this happen...Nothing of this I didn't excepted and it was big supprise...Only one think is left to happen...PG era go back to Attitude :)
The one thing left to happen is for people to realize that compelling programming can be, and already has been created under the PG rating, and to also realize that any problems with the WWE product have absolutely nothing to do with the rating. If anything, I think storylines like this one that started with Punk only serve to prove that point further. We got something that's managed to keep fans interested for weeks on end, with more than enough edginess, but not too much to step over the line.

Can you all shut the hell up about Johnny Ace? And worst Raw in the last 10 years? Are you fucking serious? Are you even 10 years old making a statement like that?

If you can't see where this is all leading to for Survivor Series, then I feel really bad for you. Go ahead and enjoy your one year of ROH TV... if it lasts that long.

Somehow... SOMEHOW... I know you'll be back. And if you're not... even better.

Well this show was indeed Lame but I've seen worse Raws. I distinctly remember 2 that sucked ass just recently, the one where everyone was stuck overseas and the episiode that had no wrestling.

Lots of comments but one that stuck out to me was raw needing more time at the end. HELL NO. As often as I wish I can get my 2 hours back there is plenty of time to fit good stuff into their shows. Just cut out all the backstage crap and the mandatory 20 minute opening segment.

One thing that bugs the hell out of me. Why call it a Supershow if there isn't anything super about it? Not trying to troll.. I'm dead serious.. I don't see it.

lol worst Raw since October 2001? Really?

Thank you for doing the math for us. I thought ten years went back to Summerslam 88.

I think this not only furthered storylines, but opened the door to new ones. Johnny Ace calling someone "honey"...Steph affair? You have to keep your eyes, ears and mind open.

One of the biggest problems with many wrestling fans on this forum is that they claim to crave change.......then, they hate it when change arrives.

The major event last involved Triple H. He did a swerve......not from good guy to bad guy, but from good guy to good guy.......the swerve was explained, executed and played out in logical fashion. It made perfect sense why Triple H did as he did; the scenario had a "rightness" to it that made the whole thing terrific to watch.

And, as always, there is the unpredictability that keeps things exciting. In the opening segment, I didn't foresee Cena coming out in total support of Triple H.....I definitely didn't see Punk handling it as he did, and I loved the inclusion of Sheamus in the mix. After Cena and Punk made their appearances, I presumed the next one out would be Del Rio, injecting venom into the show of solidarity and blowing the whole thing apart. Instead, the "strike" was defused and a new direction under a new GM was initiated.

I'm sorry so many of you detest these new ideas; I think they're wonderful.

RAW was bad, but not any worse than what we've seen for the last month. Fact is, the WWE is putting out its worst product in a very long time. They are very lucky they have no real competition. There is a reason TV ratings & PPV buy rates are low & they can only sell 1500 tickets for a Smackdown taping. The talent & booking are mediocre, & I don't see any signs of improvement in the near future. Mark Henry should be nowhere near the main event. It took him 15 years to get there for a reason, & it's not because he was being held back. The McMahon family needs to stop focusing on Linda's un-winnable Senate campaigns & focus on their business, because it is going downhill fast.

And it's great to see all the WWE defenders here to tell the rest of us how stupid we are. It's almost like they pay you to defend this shit.

It's almost like TNA pays the haters to bash it.

Care to explain why you think Raw has been so shitty, other than touting poor pay-per-view buyrates in an equally poor economy and Raw ratings being low during Monday Night Football season, as they always are, as your best evidence?

WWE bashers are so quick to jump to those points as if they actually mean anything. Money in the Bank didn't sell what they expected, because people either don't have the money or don't want to spend it. They built that show up about as well as they possibly could have.

And a thread full of crybabies has spawned. I loved last nights Raw as I got to see all of my boys getting a big push(Swag, Cody, Zig, and Christian) and taking out a piece of shit like Morrison. Did I see this coming? Nope not at all in fact you guys just try to use this excuse all the time because you don't want it. Ace as GM is going to be interesting because he doesn't even have to say anything and he has heat. JR getting fired gave me the weirdest boner ever, hell I was hoping that King would get fired as well. Michael Cole was up to his old self again, I LOVED IT!

Cody destroying Orton, I LOVED IT!

It's the best Raw in a while for me.

Well I don't know about you whiney bastards but I was in a pretty good mood all night last night, watching Raw; maybe it's because the Detroit Lions fist fucked the bears, but thats another story entirely.

Start with Cena/Sheamus/Punk/HHH....setting up for Survivor Series, anyone thought about that? That is there next money shot. I didn't mind the little segment, Punk has been seeping toward this spot for the last few months, He hates the the WWE typecasts the main event, while now he is in it, he is number one in merchandise...he got what he wanted, not to mention he now has the kind of clout to get guys pushed and put people over. So him being out there shows that he is at that level now, only other place to put him would be in charge of the other group and trying to do that lat night would be rushing and dragging out a storyline simultaneously. Put thought into it, or don't ask....either way, shut up already.

I thought they did a great job focusing on the young guys, their "new stable" type group (also seems like a set up for survivor series; hopefully it continues). I liked it, they let them beat the piss out of Morrison, Cody came out and got Orton, we made a group look good, we took Orton out of the title picture for a minute to help get CODY RHODES over...stop asking for shit if you don't want it!

Mason Ryan took Ryder's flex spot, oh well, Ryder will be on Smackdown no matter what, and who knows, maybe Ryan might have something down the road that will entertain us. Him pinning Ziggler is called a push, Ziggler is on the edge of the main event, he doesn't need the win as much as WWE's new hotpush does.

Del Rio match turning into a tag match makes sense, we get an unlikely team of Del Punk, which inevitably turns into a Punk vs the World, Del Rio is a douche and Punk wants to be against the world....makes sense. Miz and Truth need to be back before Summerslam and them coming back when Triple H gets removed from his position makes ALL THE SENSE IN THE WORLD. Also, didn't you guys want a tag team divison, well Air Boom has their own theme/entrance now, them going against Awesome Truth sound pretty prominant to me. They can start pretty high profile and sign/intro teams in the process.

Triple H and Punk teaming up works for putting together a quick match, with a storyline thrown in that can draw attention, this should be the main event of Vengeance.

Laurinitus is a tall ash tray, but I hate him just by looking at his smug little face. This has been in the works since HHH took over, DUH! no suprise here, let's just see where it goes, I wouldn't be suprised to see Foley or someone else be the new GM at some point....basically Vince is putting a "douche in a suit" to take his "douche in a suit" spot, and Johnny Cumdumpster fired JR for heat, because he is veeeerrrrrry dry...like your mom. Put a bad guy in charge, give him some extra heat, he will be getting audible waves of boo's before you know it, if he doesn't, then we will see a rushed storyline.

Wether they are planning a supermatch at Survior Series like rumored, or they just want Cena/Rock vs Awesome Truth, they needed tonight.

Maybe not the worst show in the last 10 years(Katie Vick? Random 2007 Raw?), but it was dreadful. The storyline had potential and they took the most mundane route to take. Plus you have the anticlimactic returns of Vince and MizTruth...Bottom line is this show did NOT do anything to make me want to watch SD, next week's Raw or maybe Vengeance.

Face it. The WWE is afraid to think and stay out of the box. They won't get out of their comfort zone. Instead of pandering to the fans who couldn't care less about 90% of their roster they should be putting on compelling wrestling television week after week, yet they feel they don't have to. You think poor ratings, tarped-off arenas and embarrassing buyrates would light a fire under them but nope.

And why is SuperCena given ANOTHER title match out of NOWHERE for no rhyme or reason?

Because of time differences, I just finished watching the RAW I downloaded.. And there I was, scrolling happily because I actually really liked this week's episode. And then I see this title and it hit me - SHUT UP, SIT BACK AND WATCH! I wondered whether I was really part of a community where so many complained like this. Be satisfied with something! Complaining won't get us anywhere, so why not just enjoy it as it goes? And the title is totally exaggerating. Worst Raw of the past Ten Years? Even when CM fuckin' Punk was commenting atleast for a few minutes? :disappointed: Stop whining SHEESH.

And why is SuperCena given ANOTHER title match out of NOWHERE for no rhyme or reason?
Maybe because every champion ever in the history of this company has gotten a rematch after losing the title? Why should Cena be any different?

Seriously, people. Think for a minute before you bitch. It gets tiresome having to explain the obvious.
The problem is that Ryder is ten times more deserving of a push than Ryan. Obviously they're going to keep pushing whoever is their hot push of the moment, but Ryder could have fallen in that category as well after he pinned Ziggler twice. Also, you shouldn't really have your champions losing cleanly so often, even in the midcard.

Maybe because every champion ever in the history of this company has gotten a rematch after losing the title? Why should Cena be any different?

Seriously, people. Think for a minute before you bitch. It gets tiresome having to explain the obvious.

Not true. Taker in 97, Rock in 2000, HHH in spring 2002, etc.

The guy has been given rematch after rematch after rematch. When they announced the Vengeance title match nobody cared. Can they at least make a #1 contender's match?

Was obviously an exaggeration, and you naming three people out of ALL the WWE Champions over the years who didn't get rematches doesn't disprove my point.

The general rule is that when you lose the title, you get a rematch. Not getting one is the EXCEPTION to that rule. What the fuck else is he gonna do? Wrestle a broomstick? The only top heels on Raw are Miz, Truth, and Del Rio, and the former two are involved in the conspiracy storyline. Furthermore, who else would Del Rio defend against? John Morrison? I usually don't like to take naps during pay-per-views.

Worst Raw in 10 years? Hardly

go back and watch a Raw with a Diva's Search as part of the program, complete garbage.

Go back and watch the Sing A-long with the Rock Raw, where the last 20-30 minutes was devoted to the Rock playing guitar and signing. That was by far the worst Raw ever.

Go back and watch the Guest GM string of Raws, the one with the lady from the Brady Bunch, ugh terrible, Bob Barker, ugh terrible, the Muppets soon to be UGH TERRIBLE!

In the last 10 years? Really? Wow dude. You realize you are hating on all the things that WWE wants you to hate right?

The heels who walked out doing beatdowns is part of the angle. They are hypocrites. They don't mind beating people up, they just don't wanna be the ones getting beat up. They know Triple H could kick their ass but can John Laurinaitis? Its effective heel building. They are badass, yet cowards.

John Laurinaitis bothers you, guess what? Hes a heel. The best heels are ones that you hate and can't find anything good about. Same goes for Michael Cole, he is suppose to annoy you, he is a heel commentator. The most effective heels are the ones who you can't find anything positive about, Cole and Laurinaitis are the most effective heels in the business, they piss of the IWC and the casuals.

Punk hasn't gotten along with HHH during this angle, however he did say that HHH isn't the problem and that someone higher up is. Why wouldn't Punk want HHH in power? Since HHH came into power, CM Punk has main evented all the PPV's, gotten title matches, the whole shibang. A handshake is just a show of respect. Punk is obviously willing to work with HHH in order to get at the guys he actually hates.

Jomo is being squashed cause he isn't resigning with the company. Guarantee JL puts him in a match where if he loses he is fired type gimmick.

JR being fired was just to build on JL's heat and to show his bitterness and greed for power.

US Champ gets pinned, so what? Ziggler is over enough where that doesn't hurt him. He is a great character and him losing doesn't effect him as much as it helps the guy who pins him. He is pinned clean because why would a babyface cheat.

The main event being changed was just to show that Laurinaitis feels he can do whatever he wants and will fire and hire whoever he wants, whenever he wants. We all knew he was on Miz/Truth's side so why would he not rehire them the second he came into control. Don't be surprised to see Nash soon as well.

Triple H didn't really bury anyone. He did a run in and powdered the heels with CM Punk's help. Just cause he put down the heels who walked out with a few comments doesn't mean he was burying them. It was designed to bring more realness to the angle. Punk says he's better than everyone all the time, does that mean hes burying everyone too?

I don't see why you are hating to be honest. This is the best product you can find anywhere now and things are actually making sense in the storylines, if you actually listened.

Worst Raw of the past 10 years? Well shit. Did people forget about the 2009 Slammy's hosted by Dennis Miller already? Come on. Raw seemed pretty standard this week, skip for yet another dumb ending. The walk-out would've been OK, if it weren't for the guys making such stupid and unbelievable claims as Punk thankfully pointed out. You people are just as big a whiner's as the guys involved in t. he walk-out. Hypocrites.

You people make me sad.

Not only was this not the worst Raw in 10 years, it was not a bad Raw. You got good wrestling, storyline advancement, and build towards both Vengeance and Survivor Series. I was originally planning on taking a point by point look at the complaints, but the sheer volume of ridiculous bitching has sapped my will. I'll leave it at this, everything that happened last night made sense and advanced the cause. If you hate it so much, unbunch your panties, go watch something else, and stop wasting your time bitching about it online.

Really? the worst raw in 10 years? maybe if it was the FIRST raw you've seen in ten years, but not the worst in 10 years by far. The first 20 minutes made it seem like it was going to be an awesome show. I would have loved to see Punk on commentary for the bulk of the night and and see how they played it out with the three that came out in support. Maybe more guys would have crossed the line and came back over to support Trips...but that didn't happen and as a result we got a continuation of a storyline.
Now it was certainly a dull show. I did expect a bigger pop for VKM, and I don't care much about the Miz anyway, but you had to know they were coming back as soon as we say Johnny Bore as the new GM. (so what happened to the anonymous Raw GM thing???) Anyway, as boring as it may have been I found myself for the first time in a long time deciding not to cast judgement on the WWE for not doing what I would have liked to see and rather just said to myself...wait until next week and see how this plays out...so, thats what i'm gonna do.

I love how you're not allowed to hate an actual RAW show anymore without being bombarded by "stop complaining", "just stop watching" and the always popular "just wait and be patient it's all a part of the storyline..it'll get better" comments.
It's like "How can you NOT enjoy RAW you fucking idiot!! stop watching and STFU!!" lol

The show was awful: JR getting fired,Triple H burying everybody that walked out,CM punk's character getting more and more watered down ; That was a great 2 minutes of commentary time he had there..i'm glad he had time to mention who he was and mention who was fighting who before Mcmahon showed up and told everybody to leave.
Cm Punk and hunter hated each other a few weeks ago but now they're helping each other? ughh...

The reason why a lot of people are complaining about the developments of the current CM PUNk /ownership of the company/ walkout angles is because they start off so well in the beginning...and then turn to crap FAST.
The CM punk Pipebomb promo was so promising because it was out of the norm and it showed promise that the company was starting to get interesting again...and they did a fantastic job with the Money in the bank PPV...

but WWE always builds you up...only to let you down after:
the whole punk storyline morphed into angles of power struggles for control of the company...

The walkout angle was interesting for about 30 minutes before they just dropped it and everybody returned back to work...

JR returns to the broadcasting table...but you wouldn't know if he's really there or not because he's not allowed to speak too much and certainly not do the unthinkable: call the match..that's blasphemy,.... so eventually he gets fired but even his hometown crowd is so used to him being embarassed that they don't even get THAT mad at it...

Nexus starts off amazing and then just vanishes ..ect.
I remember when the Nexus angle started becoming stale and people complained about it....they were promised by the brand loyal fans that you should "relax and shut up and enjoy the development of this story"...and that one turned out fantastic didn't it? :)
So many examples.
I can't wait till they mess up mark henry's push..you just KNOW it's coming.lol

So yeah that's the reason why a lot of people are mad and in some cases just choose to turn it off completely. a lot of them still keep watching because they remember a time when the show was fun to watch and didn't insult your intelligence every 5 minutes..so they keep watching in hopes that it gets better...and then you get these slight glimmers of hope for something fresh and exciting and then they are let down yet again.so they keep watching because of the brand name and that's it.
