Worst Match Over The Past Few Years

for worst match I'd chose a match that had to fit the following criteria:

- its has to be expected to be at lease "okay" if not "good", and pretty heavily promoted on a PPV or as a main event on RAW or SmackDown (this disqualifies the Horrible/Infamous Jackie Gayda tag match from RAW in 2002)

- it has to involve serious participants in a serious match (so, no matches involving Hornswaggle/Little Bastard/Hey, what ever happened to him being Vince's son?)

- and both participants have to be healthy enough to compete (which strikes any match that Bret Hart has been involved in since 2000)

with that, I'd have to chose a three way tie:
Brock Lesnar v Goldberg (WrestleMania XX - 2004)
Two guys who were getting paid A LOT of money should have at least TRIED to put on a decent show, yet they both went out there, at the biggest show of the year, and showed a complete lack of respect for the audience in attendance, and the people who paid $50 to watch it on PPV

Triple H v Scott Steiner (Royal Rumble - 2003)
Steiner's first feud in WWE was with Triple H, and his first match was main eventing one the the "Big 3" PPV's and this match SUCKED... I hope Vince got his money back from Steiner, because whatever he was being paid, it was too much, yet...

Triple H v Scott Steiner (No Way Out - 2003)
...they were allowed to go out and ruin another PPV main event THE NEXT FUCKING MONTH!!!... as the good Resident President once said, "fool me once, shame... shame on me... fool me twice... A FOOL CAN'T GET FOOLED AGAIN!" yeah, Vince deserved to lose his money after the second time he like this monstrosity main event ANOTHER PPV.

My pick would have to be the fake Rosie O'Donnell vs. the fake Donald Trump. That match was awful on Raw. No one in the audience cared about it or even laughed once. You can even hear the audience chant not only boring but TNA chants. Of course the celebrity guest hosts episodes of Raw were pretty brutal with Seth Green and even Jeremy Piven wrestling in the main event. Chavo Guerrero vs. Hornswoggle was bad, but at least it entertained some audience members. ( I don't know, but it did).

There was no reason for the match with the two fake celebrities. I know they had a feud going on a few years ago, but no one would watch these two in a wrestling ring. Especially some second rate impersonators.

hot damn this bret vs vince thing is really blowing up a storm
people who are saying it was a bad idea making the match and there was no point is way off, has there ever been a more personal hatred in professional wrestling than bret and vince (well apart from bret and hbk) so 12 years (was it?) down the line bret hart returns and what you just want it to be all happy and forgiving? no there had to be some kind of closure even if it was a 15minute bad beat down, it was a bad wrestling match but the build up and history and closure and the celebration made the match better so no it is not the worst match. And btw im only a teen but i knew everything about the screwjob cause i was a loyal fan and i loved wrestling so dont be saying young people didnt care about the match cause i was excited to see it

aaaaaaanyway back to the actual topic, any comical match (e.g hornswaggle) matchs are usually terrible because they are pointless and they take away tv time from young guys who actually deserve and need the time.

and ill mention a specific match nobody did so far, wrestlemania 22 undertaker vs mark henry in a casket match, taker is usually good at having matches with big guys and is on his A game for mania but this match was just a let down especially after his match the previous mania with orton

Brock Lesnar Vrs Goldberg - Wrestlemania XX - this is the only match that I remember both people being booed throughout the contest. It was clear from the start that both of them didn't want to be there. Brock was leaving to go do his MMA stuff and Goldberg was leaving to star in some action films or whatever. Whenever people talk about bringing Goldberg back, I have to question whether he was really that bothered about the business at all. He could have gone out on a high point but sadly much like most of his WWE career was hardly memorable at all.

Of the recent high profile matches that I had high expectations for, the most disappointing match would probably be HHH vs Orton from WM25. The storyline was great with Orton going around and punting all the McMahons, but man, this just fell flat. The crowd was dead, the match had no intensity at all (which was a major problem considering how heated the rivalry was), and it was also way too long for what it turned out to be. I don't think I can say one positive thing about this match.

If your talking about matches recently. I would say WM 27 Miz vs Cena. That match was awful. I think the Rock presence made it even worse. No one gave a shit about the match and were just waiting for Rock to come out. Very boring and predictable ending too.

I only got back into wrestling last year for a tall British asshole. But there are two matches that I really, REALLY, REAL-FUCKING-LY hate.

Orton vs Sheamus at Hell in a Cell 2010. Fucking-Shitdog-Taking-a-shit-Christ this match was fucking horrible. They spent 5 minutes before this match talking about how scary the cell was. Like you touch that cell and you will be pissing blood for weeks if you survive it. So, about 20 seconds into the match they both no sell bumps into the cell. And they are doing this for about 90% of a fucking almost 30 of the longest minutes ever witness in front of a WWE crowd. Sheamus had the occasional "oh shit!" reaction to stuff and tried to get creative in order to get the crowd to react. But Orton was so horrible at being sympethic and selling, that no amount of Sheamus trying can compenstate for Orton's shitty ass performance. It totally ass raped and killed the crowd to the point that no one gave a fuck until John Cena came out. Truly fucking awful match topped off with Orton climbing the cage to further bury the piece of shit that was proceeding performance.

Kane vs Edge at Survivor Series 2010. Jebsus-Fucking-Shitdog-Christ this match was so fucking horrible that I would rather watch the match I just described with much profanity. Okay. I know no one ordered the PPV for something outside of to see what was going to happen with John Cena and Wade Barrett, but these fucking assholes could've at least tried to do something besides being shit. Edge was on the offense for a good portion of the match and he sucks at offense. Kane was like a two-toed tree sloth, but a lot bigger. They couldn't decide what in the fuck they wanted to do. Nothing had any passion. The ending almost made me cry because it meant we were going to get more of their shit. And that poor fucking crowd who only wanted to see Cena had to sit through this bullshit.

There's a perverse pleasure I get from watching terrible matches, and I don't know why!

I mean, I would often in the past have watched Hogan-UT from Judegemnt Day '02, HHH-Steiner from RR '03, Hogan-Warrior in WCW and Nash botching walking and tearing his quad on a Raw in 2002 for some strange reason.

But the last couple of years...I'd have to go with Bret against Vince at WM26. It was too long, it was boring, the crowd realised halfway through that it was just chairshot after chairshot and then, mercifully, it was over.

Anytime Kane and Khali have been in the same ring is pretty dreadful too!

Now, I know this match wasn't supposed to be very good, but I'd have to say that the worst match in the past few years, & in my opinion, one of the worst matches in history, Michael Cole vs. Jerry Lalwer at WM 27. I saw it on PPV, & it lasted over an 1/2 hour! Michael Cole didn't know how to sell anything, & 1/2 of the match was taunting. It was terrible. Plus, we never even got to see Stone Cold Stun Cole, AND the decision was "reversed" & Michael Cole won, AND the feud lasted for another few months. Talk about just God awful.

But if this is supposed to be about hyped matches that dissapointted you, I'd say Miz vs. Cena at WM 27. But then again, they were in a rough spot. I mean, they had to follow one of the best matches of the year(technically it was the Snooki match before Miz's match, but you guys know what I mean). HHH vs. RKO WM 25 was also in the same situation having to top Undertaker vs. HBK. Anyways, Miz vs. Cena was slow-paced, the double count out was dumb, & Rock's interference felt a bit awkward of you ask me.

One final thing, I sincerely hope that in a year, we can look back at Cena vs. Rock & not mention it in forums like this. I mean, last time we saw the Rock in a ring, he was a bit rusty, & we can't expect Cena to carry him. We'll just wait & see.

Goldberg v Lesnar. I was a big fan of Lesnar and really didnt believe he was leaving WWE. I knew Goldberg was going but thought for his paycheck and the fact it was his Mania debut he'd go out on a high. Instead we got 5 mins or so of Goldberg and Lesnar walking round in a circle, a couple of minutes lazy "grappling" and a jack hammer. I was left extremley unimpressed.

Cena vs. The Miz at WM is probably the worst. Considering the fact that it is the main event at Wrestlemania, it just became a promotional stuff for WM28. This match should just be thrown out at an episode on RAW and not at the grandest stage of them all. That was really crap.

How long have you been watching wrestling? I get the feeling you know absolutely nothing about Bret, or his situation going into WrestleMania.

The guy is a borderline cripple. Did you expect some **** classic? Of course this match wasn't on par with Vince vs. Shane, or Vince vs. anyone healthy.

This match was done for older fans. Older fans are loyal fans. Most wanted closure, and they got it. To see Bret Hart at another WrestleMania was one hell of a treat. It's a sad day when new age smarks feel the need to shit on something they know nothing about.

Worst match? JBL vs. Rey Mysterio at WrestleMania 25. I wanted to see Rey fly around for several minutes, less than one isn't cutting it. I understand the story (somewhat) called for it, but I wasn't a fan.

I can not agree more I loved seeing Bret wrestle again at WrestleMaina It was a dream come true to finally get justice for 97, not being in the WWF when Owen was asked to do that stupid stunt that took his life to beat Vince for US OLDER Fans it was great to see Bret wrestle one last Mania match no one knew he was going to wrestle until it the match was made I know it was not going to be the greatest match ever but it was a dream come true Bret Hart back in a WWF/ E ring after 12 and a half years of not being on WWE TV it was a very awesome site to see.

A few of the Divas matches were god-awful,but I wouldn't comment on them because I pretty much switch off once the camera pans away from Kelly Kelly's ass.

One match that I hated, and I really mean hate hate hate hate was Jerry Lawler vs. Michael Cole at WrestleMania 27.First of all, they had half an hour (WTF?!) and secondly, the "match" consisted of so much clusterf*ckery that I literally hated the WWE for that half an hour.Hated it so much. Also,to make it worse, because that match overran by 25 minutes,it affected everything else on the show.If you think Cena vs. Miz was crap, blame Lawler vs. Cole.

PWI Match of The Year Award Winner Shawn Michaels vs Undertaker WM25 and again WM26. WM25 really was a terrible match wasn't it? Personally I would say the worst match would have been at WM3 Hillbilly Jim, The Haiti Kid and Little Beaver defeated King Kong Bundy, Little Tokyo and Lord Littlebrook. I suppose it was kind of amusing, but really I couldn't see the point really, but I was always a little bit like that. In fact I just remembered another one: Bam Bam Bigelow(RIP) & Luna Vachon(RIP) vs Doink and Dink. Eugh! And please, don't call me sizist, I don't have anything against what they used to call midget wrestling(don't think your allowed to say that anymore. Its not PC!) I just didn't really enjoy the idea of a 4' 100lb guy trying to seem like somthing against a full grown 300/400lb guy.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Was the guy that you quoted joking? How could he say that Cena v Punk at MITB was a bad match, and then call UT v HBK at WM25 a bad match? Taker-Michaels at WM25 was my MOTY two years ago, and unless something surpasses it in the next couple of months, Cena v Punk (MITB) is looking like my MOTY this year. How anyone can say that matches like these are awful are obviously blind, stupid, hard to please, or just pulling your leg!

For my worst match, I will also say fake Donald Trump and fake Rosie O'Donnell. What was even the point of this match? I sometimes walk out of the room when they have backstage segments with Hornswoggle and co, but this is the only wrestling match I can think of in living memory that I walked out halfway through and did something else. I try to give any match involving two or more WRESTLERS a go, but since these two aren't full-time wrestlers, I don't feel any obligation to give them a go.

I wasn't that wrapped with a match a week earlier on "Raw", when John Cena fought Kevin Federline. The ending sucked, and they had K-Fed beat Cena! WTF! All you people who say that Cena is Superman need to remember that they had him job to ex-Mr Britney Spears!

Any match that involved the Great Khali or Hornswoggle could be in line for worst match ever

Neither of these two are wrestlers in any capacity.

Khali is big, terrible on the mic, and worse in the ring. He's like an Indian Kevin Nash

Hornswoggle is all around garbage, why wasn't he fired when Finley was let go?

And here we go.

Tell me what a wrestler is then, oh knowledgable one.

Khali is big, terrible on the mic, and worse in the ring. He's like an Indian Kevin Nash

1. So big = bad?

2. He doesn't need to talk on the mic.

3. The man is over 7 feet and 400 pounds. What exactly do you want him to do in the ring that he doesn't already do? If you can tell me this, which I seriously doubt, you'll be the first in about a hundred.

Hornswoggle is all around garbage, why wasn't he fired when Finley was let go?

People still hating on Hornswoggle. How many times has he been on TV in the last few years? Not that many if I recall.

Any match involving Jerry Lawler. Especially ones where he almost gets over during the match. Most boring wrestler I've ever seen. He has like 2 moves, and none of them look like they hurt at all.

Any time WWE does one of Lawler's apparently contractually stipulated bi-annually involvements in stuff in the ring, I just cringe and hope it's over sooner than later. If the guy ever steps into the ring at this point, he should only get completely dominated. Anything else is just embarrassing to whoever he is fighting.

I don't think this is anywhere near the WORST match of the past few years, but I was definitely extremely disappointed with Evan Bourne vs. Sin Cara. It was the match that should have happened on the Viewer's Choice episode of Raw, but some bullshit stats messed it up, and it was postponed. Had it truly been a random match I would have understood the poor quality we were handed, but they had an EXTRA WEEK to think about and prepare for that match. They could have practiced their spots, gone over it a few times, ANYTHING. But that match was such a huge disappointment and had me saying "wow...this is absolute garbage from two excellent athletes..."

Cena has had many great matches, including against edge, hbk, batista at summerlam and of course against cm punk. But Cena vs Miz at mania27 was horrible, the finish was bad and just should have had the rock speical ref. Ends in a dq then restarted just so rock can rock bottom cena for miz to get the fluke victory. It made miz look weak to win that way. He kicked out of AA but then wins like that WTF.

It has to be one of the two minute diva matches on Raw if we're really talking about the absolute worst. It's sad, because most of the divas actually have the potential to be entertaining, but WWE simply won't allow them to be. Thus, we get the pointless piss breaks that provide no entertainment value whatsoever except for the preteens jacking their penises because they don't know where to find porn.

Anyone who says that any match involving John Cena is the worst match of the last few years clearly hasn't watched a whole lot of wrestling lately.

Forgot about Chavo vs. Hornswoggle, which was worse than the diva matches but those were never intended to be actual matches anyway. Obviously squash matches involving midgets are going to suck donkey dick.

Sorry I wasn't aware you were a Khali and Hornswoggle. I didn't know that their contributions to WWE Programing weekly was what you tuned in for.

I understand why Khali is around, WWE is huge in India, and the people of India love Khali which is awesome, because that means he's making them money somewhere, but he fucking stinks in the ring. This thread is about wrestling matches right? Can you tell me of a good Khali wrestling match?

Hornswoggle keeps the kiddies wet, awesome. But lets be serious his time has come and gone. That feud he had with Chavo for 6/9 Months? Really? That was a good use of on air time?

There have been a lot of terrible matches that have taken place, the Diva's still wrestle every week so they always have a chance to be front runner for "Worst Match" but I can think of several examples of matches involving Khali or Hornswoggle that were down right awful.
