The Scorpio Sky (Mason Andrews) Situation

I've got more Ho's than Jim Duggan
Just recently an internet report has come out detailing reaction to the twitter habits of Indy wrestler Scorpio Sky...

http://outsports.com/jocktalkblog/2...eets-of-scorpio-sky-wont-work-with-him-again/

Now the report comes from a website that has articles pertaining to homosexual athletes, and the issues of homosexuality in the sports world.

The article brings light to the fact Scorpio Sky regularly uses the term "******" while tweeting. One tweet even quotes Sky saying "If I have gay followers and ****** offends you, my bad lol. It's just too good an insult. I would never call a gay guy a ****** though."

The article links to instances (one going as far back as May of last year referencing Mark Cuban who owns the Mavs) of Sky using the word, and also vehemently defending his use of the word.

One follower of Sky's had a conversation with him on the social media site about his usage, and also persisted to inform and seek reaction from companies that employ Sky. One of the companies that he contacted was the WWE who recently used Sky as the "Harold" character in its Kane/Bryan anger managment skits on RAW.

The WWE responded with this statement:
"WWE strongly believes that everyone should be treated with respect and this principle is the foundation of our anti-bullying initiative, “Be a STAR”. Mr. Andrews no longer works for WWE and we have no plans to work with him in the future."

It also notes that Sky has refrained from tweeting entirely over the course of the last week or so.

Now I'm not really looking for people's opinions on whether or not they respect Sky's stance or wish to villiafy him for it, because that could be a long drawn out discussion that veres far from the relevance to this particular case, as obviously the word is a hot button topic and offends many people despite the fact that it is often thrown around in internet circles as if it were a very common and harmless word.

I simply post this to ask this...

There were premature reports this Summer that had Andrews signing with TNA, that became quickly squashed in light of the fact that Andrews instead decided to compete in an open tryout for WWE officials, a tryout that led to his appearing in the aforementioned skits on WWE TV. But nothing else was ever heard from Sky as a WWE employee and he continued to work his indy schedule, most recently working the latest PWG event defeating Joey Ryan in his farewell match with that company. Sky also indicated that the main reason he didn't sign with TNA was that he found their monetary offer insufficient.

With WWE denying any plan to work with Mr. Andrews in the future, how would you feel about TNA once again pursuing his services?? That could mean that they offer him a larger sum of money, or even that, given he now has no leverage up north, he decides that what TNA offered is now satisfactory.

If Andrews is willing to show contrition and create a new TNA roster member twitter handle where he agrees to refrain from using the gay slur that has been cited, would you support TNA signing him to their roster??

I feel it is a shame that this could keep Andrews from being exposed to a national audience, as I feel he is one of the most talented professional wrestlers in the country not already employed by the "big 2".

I would still like to see him come to TNA if mutual interest exists, but would love to hear how others feel on the matter- specifically the matter of his potential TNA employment, not the matter of your personal feelings about the tweets themselves.

I find it quite amusing that the company firing Scorpio do it to back the "Be A Star" campaign. The same company that plays people's music to make them walk to the ring confused, ran 2 angles in which women were called and mocked about obesity repeatedly. One of which led to said person quitting. Yeah, I get it. Scorpio sounds like an idiot "apologizing". Pretty much saying "sorry if I offended fa**ot's by saying fa**ot". If your name isn't Eric Cartman, I don't think it's alright. And when your superiors tell you to stop, you might want to listen. This is proof not everyone is ready to adopt the social media age. Kurt's not ready for it. Matt Hardy isn't ready for it. Neither is Scorpio. It's why we hand out some warnings before infractions and finally a banning. We give you time to learn.

As for him back in TNA? Only after a good run in OVW. And banning him from the internet for a while.

The PC thugs strike again welcome to the Socialist States of America. I agree about the double standards of the WWE they fire people for speaking their mind and making off color comments then turn around and have Vickie Guerrero subjected to various forms of bullying and humiliation if that aint hypocrisy I'll kiss your ass.

I hope his internet posts don't affect his work opportunities, for as long as he's not directly and intentionally hurting his peers at work because of their sexual preferences then he shouldn't be made to suffer for what was said. Scorpio Sky is an excellent talent and I'd hate to see him wasted just because he has a rough way of speaking to strangers. There are greater crimes committed by professional wrestlers on there own time that they have never been punished for and rightly so for work is a separate world from home. Your personal conduct should not affect your placement at your job, only your ability and ethic should be up for judgement. I look forward to Scorpio Sky having a chance to work at the national level once again and being able to put this matter behind himself.

I'll first admit that I am not Familiar with Scorpio's ring work. In fact when I first read the article title I thought it was 2 Cold Scorpio. With that said, I'm looking at this from a business standpoint.

As big of a company that WWE is, a connection with anybody saying this kind of stuff is poison. This particular issue gets far too many people fired up on both sides that it needed to be dealt with immediately before anything had the potential of being blown out or proportion. It's far too easy for somebody who doesn't even care about wrestling and turn it into a big "WWE hates homosexuals" thing, it's just too risky for a company of that size. Scorpio is a minor talent in the whole scheme of the WWE, it wasn't hard to let him go. If TNA wanted to pick him up I don't see it really being a problem as long as he really stays in the shadows for a while.

On the comparison of obesity I think we're looking apples an oranges. While this is too an issue people do get upset about, it does not stir up emotions anywhere NEAR homosexuality at this time. If it were a decade ago this would be a different story but right now this is one of the most important issues to many people in America.

For others who aren't really familiar with his work and are interested...

This is a very good match taped back in February for "NWA Chamionship Wrestlng from Hollywood"

Scorpio Sky defends the International TV title against Willie Mack

Stuff like this is exactly why wrestlers should stay the hell off of Twitter. They have way too much opportunity to get in trouble for saying something stupid. Somewhere somebody is gonna get butthurt by something.

From a talent standpoint Scorpio Sky would be a great fit in the X Division.
The bad thing about this is that indie promotions are still going to book him and not take any flack for it. No one will care about it. If TNA were to sign him then people would jump on them and accuse them of not being insensitive to the subject. People already give them crap because of guys with substance issues like RVD, Jeff Hardy and Kurt Angle. This would just be more ammunition to fire at them. People no doubt would say they support bigotry.
Is he a good enough talent to make it worth it? I don't think so.

oooooohhhhhh now I remember who this guy is! Yeah he was talented but didn't really stand out to me. I remember when I first saw him on impact at first glance I thought Maven was making a come back. I can't blame the WWE for letting him go.

You clearly have no idea what socialist means, or maybe you just watch nothing but fox news, or maybe you are 13. Either way, you should try and get a better understanding of how the world works, if you read this and the first thing you think of is calling "PC Thugs" socialists. WWE is a PRIVATE company.
