The Rock or John Cena: Who is the Better Worker?

Anyone who answers John Cena is hecka dumb. If he was a hard worker, his wrestling technique would be better, his move selling wouldn't look like such crap, and he would be doing his job right by actually winning over the crowd. He can't even be a full face when WWE gives him the most push they've given since freaking Hogan. That shows he's not doing his job right. Cheap pops, 3 moves, scripted charisma, and trying to be "hip and cool" shows that he is not that great of a worker. Just an ok worker with a huge push. Thus, making The Rock the better worker. Y? Cuz he sold moves awesomely, disgustingly good charisma, had more than 3 moves (DDT, spinebuster, sharpshooter, jumping clothesline, back elbow smash, those punches, rock bottom, and peoples elbow) didn't need cheap pops to get over(thank god), and didn't have to win every match to attempt to keep his fans

Like i said Cena wasn't a natural, hes had to work to get to the level he is now. Its its cause of his mic skills that hes being pushed. But if were getting into moves then lets be honest. Jumping clothesline, every Diva in the WWE does it. Back elbow smash isn't something technical. His sharpshooter was shit, it looked horrible. Those punches were stupid, that shaking leg thing. Doesn't Batista do that while his apponent is in the corner and hes "raming his shoulder into his apponent". And the peoples elbow was the dumbest finisher in the history of WWE, its a freakin elbow drop. HBK does one from the ropes and people kick out of it are you kidding me? I hate Cena but dont call me dumb when you didn't even realize all the dumb stuff Rock did. Not to mention Cena does alot of moves now that are like those moves you named. Peoples elbow-5 Knuckel Shuffel. Rocks bad Sharpshooter-Cenas Stf. Rocks back elbow smash-Cenas shoulder block. Oh and Rock didnt win matches cause was so great, he won because he was popular, just like Cena. Give him his due hes a HARDER WORKER then rock.

I would say that I like the Rock better. I was a fan of the People's Champ solely for his personality and mic skills (ok, and because he played at the U). Both Cena and the Rock wrestle a style I'm not particularly drawn to, however, if we are talking about the better in ring worker, then it has to be John Cena. Although both men are able to make the crowd go wild simply by throwing a punch, Cena has the advantage over the Rock in ring psychology and he is able to make any opponent look good. Say what you will about Cena, but he does alot for his opponent in the ring and that is an all too often overlooked aspect of a good wrestling match.

All right, who bumped this post from 2006?

Do you even watch wrestling? For fuck's sake. This is probably my favorite part right here:

Ignorant wrestling fan said:

Really now? Cena's selling sucks, but Rock sold moves "awesomely"? Do you even know what the fuck you are talking about? The Rock was a NOTORIOUS overseller. I'm not saying that's bad, because it was entertaining, but to say that Cena's selling sucks, while Rock was awesome at selling is just ludicrous.

And as far as Cena getting full face pop...well, all I can say is that I know you don't watch wrestling. Because he's been getting mega face pops for nearly a year now. Hell, just watch the last episode of Monday Night Raw. The man got the biggest pop I've heard since Austin and Rock left.

They are two of my three favourite wrestlers of all time so personally they are both outstanding. They both get me invested in their storytelling, both have me hanging on their every word and both change the feel of a show when their music hits. They've both been at the top of the business, they both boost ratings yet they both get unwarranted abuse. Neither do complicated submission holds or are technically gifted but that means jack shit in wrestling. They do/did what they had to to entertain

However, The Rock got me into wrestling and him leaving made me stop watching whereas John Cena was a wrestler who I got into after already been watching it again for a few months so the edge would go to The Rock.

The Rock has the edge on entertainment value, which is the most important thing in professional wrestling. The things he did made you want to watch him again just that tiny bit more than Cena does. He was slightly better on the mic so had that slight advantage on getting people interested in him. The edge goes to The Rock but barely.

another silly question maybe

First off i know i always say how shit he is, Cena is not totally crap IMO jsut he gets on my nerves and is totally lame on the mic and struggles to sell moves and looks bad in most matches. I mean the Miz looked good against him "Thats Bad"

Cena has the look of a champ and obviously alot of fans, god knows why but they exist.
So onto thoughts -

To quote a great man

"What do you think?"
"IT DOESN"T MATTER WHAT YOU THINK"

They both worked hard in ring, and both put there bodies on the line but The Rock was and always will be head and shoulders above Cena in most aspects for me

The Rock was still wrestling after he starred in 2 movies, 2 successfull ones i might add. and continued to wrestling for another few years but only after he'd taken on anyone who was noteworthy and been a WWE/WCW/Tag/IC Champ multiple times and beaten Hogan on the grandest stage of them all, atleast 6 yrs of busting his ass for us i might add and during the punishing Attitude era too which IMO was far more brutal than what happens now. Cena has done what? Won the world title a number of times and the US title during an era when titles are thrown around on a weekly basis if they get defended at all, made 2 dud movies, a number of average fueds,

Dot Summaries -

* The Rock gets the mic award, and the better finisher (Rock Bottom)
* Cena gets the submission nod (STFU) if he actually makes it look like it's applied
* Both the People's Elbow, The Five Knuckle shuffle are pretty average standard run the ropes finishers
the People's Elbow was the better move
* Both have catchy entrance themes, though i hate rap so Rock gets that nod for me too
* Both were very passionate, Rock was probably less humble as he knew he was good and came from wrestling royalty and Cena is an a teachers pet
* Rock gets the nod for the better overall look of a champ
* Neither are that flash at legit acting though IMO compared to wrestling acting.
* The Rock's promo's in general was second to none, VCena's are the same drivel "i respect you" crap but i'm gonna beat you up by bitch slapping you
* The Rock for comedy.
* The Rock for all his catch phrases

* The Rock had that ability that alot of guys did back then and thats to make others look good, even if he was beating them, Kurt Angle, Bret Hart, Austin, Undertaker all thrived in that role HBK for me is the king of that. Noone puts on an epic match like HBK

* Cena's only ability to make others look good is cause compared to him it's hard to look bad.

Finally
Fueds - Austin Vs The Rock Vs Triple H triangle of several year fued will go down as maybe the biggest in WWE history specifically Austin Vs The Rock. Nothing Cena has done to date comes even close to the matches they put on. Which shows that even the legends that he's faced can't make Cena look great only Vince can.

And thats the Bottom Line cause Stone Cold - oooppps no wait i'll get it
Oooooooooooh Yeah!! no thats not it
Rest In Piece DAMMIT I'll get it
I'm the Best There is .... NOooooooooooo

IF YA SMELL LALALALALALALALA WHAT THE ROCK..... IS ..... COOKING!!!

I don't think you can answer this question conclusively. You simply cannot say the Rock is not the better worker because he left WWE. If he was ONLY interested in wrestling, my opinion is that his work ethic might be just like Cena's today.

I'd probably give the edge to Cena if I wanted I loyal workhorse. But if I were starting a promotion and I had the choice of Cena of the Rock in their prime...I would hand down choose The Rock. The Rock simply has something Cena does not. As some other people said previously, he is the better entertainer, by far.

Another thing to remember is that Cena was handpicked even before he was in developmental to be a star. I doubt if he wasn't shoved down the audiences throat he would have achieved the level of success he has. Arguably much of the success has simply be given to him...fortunately he has the look and a decent amount of ability to run with it. However, I believe that if The Rock wasn't given a huge push, he inevitably would have made something work for him.

So while I think that a lot of people might give Cena the edge as a better overall worker, primarily due to the fact that wrestling is number one for him...I think think 99.9% of people if given a choice to start a wrestling company, would choose The Rock in his prime as a performer.

Wow this is a tough one because I'm a huge fan of both men. As far as a worker goes I'm going with Cena. He is the harder worker of the 2. If we were talking mic skills then it's the Rock hands down but in ring work I'm going with Cena. I think Cena may just be one of the hardest working wrestlers ever. Not to say that the Rock wasn't a great worker because he was but the Rock had a lot of great wrestlers to work with while Cena hasn't always had the best guys to work with like Khali & Umaga etc. but he still made the matches decent to watch and I'll never forget the 60 minute match he had with HBK on Raw that wasn't an iron man match but he held his own against one of the greatest in ring performers of all time. Overall both men are great and are Hall of Fame bound. I have to admit I would love to see the Rock come back even for just one match against Cena and pass the torch to him too.
