The 'PG' Crowd..

TJWWE

Pre-Show Stalwart
First off, if this thread has been done, then i'm sorry.
but i just wanted to say something.

As you can see and hear, the WWE universe cheers full-on when The Rock said "Bitch".

Last week, when cena made them homosexual jokes last week, the crowd cheered full-on.

My point of this thread is that the crowd seem to respond better when they swear and make jokes.

My question to you is.. first:
which crowd do you like best.. PG where they cheer for all the swear words and sexual jokes or the new attitude crowd, where they just cheer for their favourite wrestler?

Gross oversimplification. The crowd cheered because the Rock called John Cena a bitch. If the Rock had just gone out there and said "bitch" he would have gone no response at all. It's not just the curse words, it's the context in which those words are used. Insults are much more effective when you can curse. Adults know this. The kids hear a dirty word and giggle.

I agree completely with TheMainMan. The context is everything, especially the way it's delivered.

Think before you make a post next time.

If The Rock called John Cena an idiot rather than a bitch, are you saying the crowd reaction would be equal in both cases?

Obviously not, because the swears and "dirty" non-PG words are more powerful and you clearly understand this, but that is what the OP is saying.

So re-think and answer this question: Do you think it is better when they use these more powerful words which seem to have vanished from the WWE vocabulary, or if they use simple and less meaningful words?

To answer the main thread question, I'd just prefer a better, older crowd to go along with a better product which has now grown more than stale, more than pathetic, but all due to business reasons I gave up caring for. To be less stale, you need edgy moments, and since the product has been stale for about 6 years, maybe it's time for that. You can see what Vince does cause I'm sure he knows what he's doing, I just don't care because I gave up WWE because I'm 17 and it has no attractions for myself anymore to watch/

Couldn't agree with TheMainMan32 even more than I do right now. If Rock just said "Bitch" out of the blue to no one... it'd be weird and if Cena made a homosexual remark to the crowd... "boo!" (or so the crowd will go).

The context does matter but obviously considering there is now Rock and Cena both on RAW for sure, I'm pretty positive some older fans will have got in more so than normal. But it's like blood, when it happens rarely it gets a bigger reaction and you could argue that that's the case here.

I'm gonna say yeah because usually wwe gets no response from them just blabbering on but Then rock says cena u yabba dabba bitch u could see people cheering and laughing and no its not a sign of tv14 again wwe will NEVER go wwe tv14 again lets face the facts

At first I didn't understand, Because a few months ago, Cena said via satelite 'Ass' and I can't remember what he said, but it was related to Punk and now we are getting a lot of swear words. I think that happened because Cena is adored by a lot of kids where as The Rock was on top of his game in the attitute era so for him the fans that cheered for him then are going to be older now. So maybe The Rock is doing this for HIS fans, so we don't see a different side of the Rock.

As for calling Cena a 'bitch' I still think it was over the top, but damn the crowd cheered for him, I was just imagining if it would have been different if he was there in person.

The Rock can say ass and bitch all he wants. Those are just general cursewords and I don't get worked up one way or the other.

However, John Cena constantly resorting to gay jokes is just disturbing. I'm not even gay and I still find it insulting all his promos revolve around the heel being gay. Seriously, does the guy not have anything else? Even if Miz and Alex Riley were lovers, would that actually degrade him as a champion? No, he does that all by himself.

Swear words and "adult" content get bigger reactions from the older people because they want the PG era to get fucked. Since the swear words and shit have been axed, the crowd appreciates the very RARE swearing and "badass" content that happens since the PG era, but it was more so a reaction because it was The Rock that did it and not some dooche like Miz or Morrison or anyone from this generation. With the Attitude Era, the crowd were used to having them swear and hence they reacted less and less each time a superstar swore in a in-ring segment.

It adds intensity to a rivalry, and shows the audience that they can be 'hardcore' if they want to be. Builds character.
