The Oscars

Dropping some of the tech Oscars would help. I don't mean don't have them, but don't air them. Do they think 90% of the audience has a clue what the difference between sound editing and sound mixing is, and better yet do they think most people watching care? Stuff like that can be dropped. Also cut the opening monologue down. Also, have less than nine best picture nominees. It takes so long to go through the clips of them. Less of the host would help too.

I started to watch as soon as the red carpet coverage started (fiance made me because I kind of make her watch WWE PPVs). So, I was stuck for hours, but you're right. I studied film when I lived in the US and know a little bit about sound editing and what not, but I don't care about that stuff. Don't air it.

I just thought of this comparison; the past couple of years the Oscars reminds of WCW Nitro during 97-99. Where instead of making those mistakes that you know will bite you in the ass, they make them and flame out in spectacular fashion. Like that Best Picture problem you mentioned, that started because of the controversy of the Academy snubbing The Dark Knight. You know how you can fix it, by nominating The Dark Knight instead of shit movies like Slumdog Millionaire or The Reader.

Also, me personally, I would just have one host signing a contract for 5 years. I wouldn't mind it if like Alec Baldwin were to be the host for the next 5 Oscars instead of getting this weird crap with Franco, then Billy Crystal, and now Seth, and next year it will be like Matthew Perry or something.

Glad to hear Christoph Waltz win one. I can't think of an Austrian who captivated a nation's heart like he did.

Thank fuck Argo won, such an amazing film. Crazy to think Ben went from being a shitty actor to one of the best directors around.
