The New York Giants Thread

The New York Giants earned that win yesterday. Yeah, Williams fumbled twice. But, who caused him to fumble in the first place? A Giants player. The thing about luck, is that sometimes you have to make your own. The New York Giants made their own. Kyle Williams didn't fumble the ball in a vacuum, he fumbled because the New York Giants special teams punched the ball out, exactly as they are trained to do. They did their job, and it produced results. Yeah, maybe if the ball bounces differently the 49ers recover...but without the Giants player forcing the fumble in the first place, it never would have been an issue.

The Giants simply played a better game than the 49ers did.

I was talking about the NFC West.

It's amazing that for the past five or six years, I believe, that there were at least five teams that were in the playoffs that missed it the previous year (Giants, Lions, 49ers, Bengals, Texans, Broncos)

I see a reason why... it's called the New Orleans Saints. The Niners never should've made it this far.

Under that logic the Giants never should have even made the playoffs. I'm not a Niner fan by any stretch of the imagination; but they fucking earned that victory against the saints.

Your talking about the second fumble, everyone agrees that's his fault, and we're not talking about that bounce; but rather the first half "fumble" where it took an odd hop and barely glanced the knee of Williams. That's luck, it's a luck bounce and nothing more. You can argue he was standing "too close" which is fine, but that fumble wasn't caused by the Giants, it was simply caused by the bounce.

Yeah the NFC West is considerably the weakest division in football. The Niners may face competition in the form of Seattle in the future, but that looks to be it unless Fisher can turn the Rams around soon.

Giants have as good a shot as any to beat the Pats. The only thing is I don't think anyone is now doubting it. In '07 they were the underdog. Who could stop Brady and the undefeated Patriots? This year it seems there is more of an even-ness to the game. I said it in the Stadium, the NE TEs, especially Gronkowski, are going to help determine the outcome. I don't know if there is anyone on the Giants who can cover him. Hell I don't know if there is anyone in the NFL who can truly shut down Gronkowski.

Quick thought. Dallas being in the NFC East is a joke. Rivalry be damned.

If this devolves this thread into a realignment argument, I am 100% all in.

And you are right. It's just as ridiculous as the Miami Dolphins playing in the AFC East while the Colts play in the AFC South.

No doubt. There's no reason for it at all. The NFL just wants the rivalry and 2 games each year between the Cowboys and Giants/Eagles. Switch Carolina to the East, and Dallas to the South. Switch the Dolphins, either Pit/Bal, and the Colts. Colts in the North, either Pit/Bal in the East, and Dolphins in the South.

Quick question. The Giants' kicker, is he really Scottish or did he just play for the Claymores? I was getting ready this morning while the results of last nights games were being discussed on a sports news channel but I didn't catch it all. If he's Scottish then I'll be a Giants fan on 5th Feb :)

Tynes is Scottish for real. (he was born there, but has two American parents. His dad was an American Navy SEAL stationed there)

And it makes me a Giants/Tynes/McIntyre fan.

Can somebody tell me if Steven Tyler did a better rendition of the National Anthem than Kristin Chenowith?

Big Blue overcame the odds and raised a middle finger to the naysayers by becoming the NFC champions.

Love them or hate them, they never back down or give up.

:lmao:

A bit of a romantic painting of a team that was handed a gift wrapped ten points on a silver fucking platter.

If won player would not have single handedly handed you the shit, then forget those ten points, the winning score, and the tying score.

Also, as you can see, im not saying luck had anything to do with it. 110% blaming the player. The coach too. Should have pulled the guy out in the first half, he was clearly losing his fucking mind the enitre time. Totally unsure of himself, calling fair catches when he could have ran, and NOT calling fair catches on others, then the two fuck ups.

Fucking DAMN it, man :lmao:

Bottom line being, it was AT LEAST a ten point swing, and thats assuming we wouldnt have scored any points on the two drives we HANDED to you, inside the 25 yard line.

What would the game have looked like without those?

17 - 10, Niners. At least.

I wanted the G Men to win. Didn't feel the 49ers could beat NE. Giants will give the Pats a better game...That and it annoys all those Eli haters out there.

I can't wait for the Super Bowl now. As a Giants fan who absolutely loved the first game against the Pats, the prospect of a rematch is so exciting.

Go Big Blue!!!

Kyle Williams definitely fucked up but Harbaugh didn't have much of a choice because of the injury to Ginn. Not every team has a third string return man ready to be thrown into a clutch situation in bad weather. It's being said that Williams is receiving death threats from fans which is obviously going a little far.

I also learned today that Kyle Williams dad is White Sox GM Kenny Williams. There's your "completely irrelevant to the discussion" sports fact of the day
