The Miz's Video Promo Before his Wrestlemania Match

I actually thought that video package before the main event of Miz was awesome. That was a one of the highlights of the night for me. I am hoping they replay that tonight on Raw for sure. It did an excellent job of showing what the Miz has made out of himself.

What did everyone else think of it?

i completely agree, in fact i thought WWE nailed every video package last night. Their production team deserves huge credit for making their matches seem hugely important and also for taking a risk and doing very different style videos than previous years.

That definitely stuck out as really well done. It didn't really seem very "heelish" though, further muddling the heel/face dynamic of the match.

On second thought, the comics nerd in me can see Mr. Sinister watching clips of various incarnations of the X-Men in a similar type scene, so it did make the Miz seem calculating and cerebral. That's really the way they have to book Miz to seem like a legit threat in the ring, and JR and Lawler were selling him like that quite well.

the viginettes were as i will say 'awesome' with miz going through a replay through recent and past events and giving the viewers a reason besides all the others to show why he is now at the top and where he began , cena s had obvious religious allusion , i enjoyed them both, i wish cena showed that passion in the ring but

I agree... the Miz vignette actually made me look at him in a different light and respect him more for his accomplishments....

clearly not just anybody can be a wwe superstar, let alone come from reality tv to become wwe champion....

fair fucks to the boy...

So apparently I'm not the only one who thought of it as an AWESOME video package.. in every possible sense of the word.

This really made many people here (and everywhere, I'm sure) look at Miz in a different light, and IMO this package made him look 4 times more credible than any booking this creative team has ever made for him (WM booking excluded, cause it's a special occasion).

I thought they nailed The Miz's video package, and it easily ranked up there against the epic Austin/Rock promo from ten years ago. One of, if not the only, non-disappointments of the night.

It was a good package, & it reinforced exactly why I hate the guy. He represents the reality TV takeover of pop culture, which has runied a lot of aspects of pop culture, including wrestling. He personifies everything that is wrong with pro wrestling right now. But it was well done.

Well done production team. The Miz video was awesome. The only dissappointment was that after the promos when the match started, there wasn't much time lift for wrestling. In years past there was plenty of time, but this year, match lengths were cut and the US title match was a dark match. I would rather have more wrestling than Rock and Snoopdog backstage.

Absolutely brilliant clip.

Has anyone got a link to it so i can watch it again? The only one one Youtube i can find is terrible quality and has no volume...

Kudos to the guys behind the video though, loved it. It really set up the match brilliantly.

YES, Great post. A comic fan, as am I, if you notice, my name is Twiztid Essex, and as I know you know, Nathaniel Essex is Mr Sinister's real name :)

This video package was one of the better ones Ive see in a bit. The fact that they uses ''Hate me now'' by Nas was interesting. Since besides bad pop and great rock, they hardly use hip hop at all, but to use a legend like Nas, for Miz, is a great choice.

I say that besides the horrid end to the match, and the incredibly rushed feel of the match itself, Miz kinda got the shaft, and looked really weak, Riley, AND the rock helped miz win AT WRESTLEMANIA. They began with such a great promo video, and made him look horrible

It was setup really well. I liked how he was sitting there watching the video too. The video itself was better then the match lol.

:worship: you took the words right out of my mouth. I really like how he was sitting there like Blofield from the James bond movies petting his cat, the evil villian planning his next move but ultimately will need help for the win.

Amazing video package. I was a little stunned at the awkward thing right after it, when Miz and Riley aggressively pushed two marshmallows out of the way and walked to the ring, but awesome entrance nonetheless.

i think that package solidified the miz as someone that all the fans need to keep an eye on. miz gets a lot of shit all the time for being that real world jack off and he is clearly busting his ass to be on the top. the package just showed that vince saw a star right from the starting line.

I thought it was fantastic too. Best video of the night, really well done.

Got me pumped for the match, and then the match happened...

I really enjoyed both video packages from the Miz and Cena. I thought it really helped bring Miz to at least close to the level of Cena in this match. The other thing I really liked about the promos is how it brought real life into it. I don't mean in a TNA forced fake real life storylines, I mean it really showed what these men stand for and the journey they have both had to the top.

I'm as big a Rock fan as anyone, and have really thought he has showed what has been missing in wrestling in terms of promos. At the same time, it showed that while the entire crowd was pro-Rock, these two men are whats good about the WWE today. They both are the ultimate company guys and as much as you dislike Cena, I think the video package showed why the WWE still has so much faith in Cena and what he stands for.

Absolutely a brilliant entrance video. I remember flicking channels many years ago and seeing this dude named Mike "The Miz" going bonkers on MTV. I never thought for a single moment that this guy would go on to main event Wrestlemania, yet there he was.

The Miz has a lot of work to do to improve himself, but I hope he really soaked in that night and thought about how far he has come, as well as the fact that he's doing a program with THE ROCK. You've made it man, you've made it.

The problem with the video was that it was so awesome that when the match started it just couldn't compare to the awesomeness and hype the awesome video had given it. Which wasn't so awesome

Still it was a good vid.

i LOVED both video packages before their entrances last night... the song choices were perfect with Hate me now for Miz and the DMX prayer for Cena (even though it didn't really make sense character wise just went along with the choir, it was still sick). The video packages did a good job of showing how and why these two are the top dogs in the company. They've wanted it since they were kids and busted their asses to get there and both deserve all the respect in the world. The only crime was such a great moment being ruined by a piss poor ending and one that was used to set up the NEXT mania instead of properly closing out this one... Did the writers of Lost realize no one in hollywood wants their stupid twists anymore and they could only find a job booking mania 27?

it was perfect! The evolution of the miz made me happy he still has the belt. i was half asleep at the time but it woke me up. Fantastic video by the WWE.

I loved it so much. I love the fact that the jokes about his past as a reality star have subsided and it has turned into a "look how far I've come" type of thing. And it is an incredible underdog story. Even though the fight itself became more about Rock and Cena, I liked that the lead-up focused on the rise of both guys instead of a compilation of shit talking and promos. Not that that's bad, but I think this is a much better way to build up to your Wrestlemania main event - focus on how successful both have been and how they both have a "chance" at winning this match.

I knew Miz from The Real World and the Challenges long before I acknowledged him as a wrestler and it was an awesome throwback for me. I remember him on those Challenges with his Be Miz shirt, I remember everyone on his team wearing one, I remember him being charismatic and funny, and I never would've imagined he'd actually headline Wrestlemania one day. What an awesome rise from the bottom to the top.

It was a good commercial, i just wish the miz knew how to wrestle like a main eventer. That bump he got in the head is something other wrestlers go through before making it big. I don't care if you call me a hater but I give respect to guys who wrestled for no or little money before making it big like Punk.

All of the things that happened at Mania, this was my favourite. Not only as a hip hop fan, did I love Hate Me Now by Nas be used for that promo but I loved watching clips of the evolution of Miz coming up from The Real World to becoming WWE Champion. He's no longer that guy everybody makes fun for being a former reality star, everyone has officially taken him seriously and I feel that promo was his official coronation for everyone taking him seriously. I'm so happy for The Miz and I'm sure everyone else is too which is why there are reports that WWE may turn him babyface in the future. There's no way anybody can boo this man anymore, he's made it and his evolution is the perfect inspiration for anybody looking to make their dreams of making it in WWE, come true.

I liked the video package for Miz. It showed how much faith WWE has in him to allow such a great package before the match to show how far he has come in the past couple of years. I'll say this much for sure, it was far more awesome than that silly "AWESOME" display during his entrance. I don't know what to think of that, it made me laugh for being weird. I still hate that he is champion, but I really enjoyed that video and hope to see more like it in the future because great videos before a match make it all the better through increasing anticipation. Even if the match itself lets you down in the end like Cena VS Miz did.
