What was your favorite Video Package Hyping a Match?

I assume TheHitMark-SirJoseOle means the training montages and sitdown interviews with Bret and Shawn before Wrestlemania 12. Those were my favourites too. They were great to watch and always gave me goosebumps. It was like they were preparing for a boxing match rather than a wrestling match.

I like the Goldberg-Jericho Bad Blood 2003 promo. It tells of Jericho's time in WCW and how he got nowhere in the company because of guys like Goldberg holding him down and then how he came to the WWE and became one of their biggest stars, but now Goldberg was in the WWE trying to steal the spotlight from him again.


Mr. McMahon vs. Hulk Hogan at Wrestlemania X9, where it looks back on their history as friends and how they built the company together before the whole steriod scandal came about and Hogan left for WCW, shattering their friendship. The music really helps capture the mood of the bitter feud.

John Cena vs. Shawn Michaels at Wrestlemania 23. It's really the music at 0.56 that does it for me.

John Cena vs. Bobby Lashley at Great American Bash 2007. You got legends like Stone Cold, Ric Flair, Mick Foley, JBL making their predictions as to who will win and giving insight on the two wrestlers.

I love the Royal Rumble statistics video. They make the Royal Rumble matches feel even more bigger and like something exciting will happen. And they always get me wondering if we'll see a new record broken in the upcoming Rumble match.

Speaking of Royal Rumble, I also love the Royal Rumble match 2001 promo. I can't find a video of it but it highlights the 5 potential candidates to win the match (I miss RR promos highlighting the potential winners of the match) - Stone Cold, Rock, Undertaker, Kane & Rikishi. And the song that plays on the video, "Death Race", which was also the Royal Rumble 1998 theme, gets me really pumped & excited for the Rumble match.

1. Austin vs Rock Wrestlemania 17

2. HBK vs Triple H Summerslam 2002 - The buildup to this was excellent, was huge for the return of HBK.

Unfortunetly I can't find this. Damn WWE

3. Elimination Chamber 2006 (Angle vs Cena vs HBK vs Carlito vs Masters vs Kane) - The use of "Stricken" by Disturbed was perfect in bringing the chaotic side of the Elimination Chamber match. However, the promo is better than the match.

4. Undertaker vs Triple H Wrestlemania 27 - Again, another great song choice for the promo, synched-up nicely.

5. Royal Rumble 2002 - Highlights the return of Triple H, and the match-up with Triple H, Stone Cold, and The Undertaker. "Cocky" by Kid Rock used in this, funny lining the "What" part up with Stone Cold.

My top two are easily Rock vs Stone Cold from Wrestlemania 17 and Brock vs Undertaker from Unforgiven. If you haven't seen Brock and Takers video package i recommend you look it up on YouTube cos u wont be disappointed

It's too hard to top the X-Seven main event promo. It had everything. It was electric. Most importantly, it made you feel the need to order this. You must buy Austin/Rock No-DQ.

But perhaps one of my own personal favourites, and I haven't seen this mentioned yet, but I quite enjoyed the Wrestlemania XXIV video with Cena/Hunter/Orton. I don't know why, the match wasn't all that special. But the theme of the video. It was just something that, to me, stuck with me, and still has for all these years. It made me feel for them, to understand why all three needed to win that one match. This, IMHO, is what a hype vignette needs to express; if you can consistently capture this one emotion, you will sell a lot of main events...

Rock/Austin is the best one imo opinion, but I came to this thread to post about the video they used for Cena Rock at this years Mania. They used Letters from the Sky by Civil Twilight. A poster above mentioned that they used that song for Taker Shawn as well. This is an example of just a great song being used for a video package, and that song alone with the Video package made me excited for Rock/Cena this year.

My favorite promo of all time and every time I watch the match I always watch the promo first and its Kurt Angle vs Shawn Michaels from WrestleMania 21. That video package is epic and a great story told to a build of one my favorite Mania matches of all time. The video package was done so well it hyped the match to be epic and it was more than just epic it was a true classic battle with a great ending!!!!!! Seeing both careers build up to the confrontation to what was going to be the match was great. The multimedia WWE team deserve an Oscar for that!!!!!!!!!
