The Joss Whedon Spam thread: Buffy, Angel, The Avengers (2012 flm) and more

I loved the first half of season 4, but hated the 2nd half with Jasmine. I thought she was terrible.

However, I really dug the Connor character. Yeah, it was frustrating how much of a cunt he could be, but overall I thought his character played a vital role in the series. Plus, his ending kicked ass. The episode that revolves around him in season 5 is one of my favorites in the series.

This. But, I did like the first couple eps with Jasmine, as they gave Freddikins a chance to actually develope.

I realised I'd love to have seen a show based on Faith ( I know there was supposed to have been one but it fell through)

She's so much more interesting than Buffy in my opinion

I'm four episodes into Dollhouse.

I cannot possibly buy this premise less.
Update: Season one finally started getting better with Man On The Street, and settled into an obviously fantastic, Whedon-esque final two episodes (with Omega serving as the finale).

And then I watched Epitaph One. It doesn't excuse the shaky episodes that are all about Eliza Dushku in the field, but it certainly quelled most problems I had with the premise and made it clear that Whedon knew exactly where he was steering the ship. A deeply affecting episode of television. Great, great stuff.

Moral of the story? Never doubt Whedon.

I've now watched Vows. We're off to a better start than season one, and I can now tell this is a show I'll be sad to see go.

Look forward to hearing your thoughts on the final two episodes of the series. I was very disappointed with it myself, but the circumstances of it all made it understandable and forgivable.

Had Dollhouse been given the 5 seasons it was supposed to have, I have no doubt it would have turned out to be one of the all time great sci-fi shows. Shame it didn't pan out. The same goes for Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (which starred Whedon regular Summer Glau), although TSCC in two seasons was much better than Dollhouse was.

One episode to go. I've been liking this season more than the last. Belonging is just an astounding hour of television. But that Boyd shit needed time to flesh itself out. As it stands, I didn't like it.

Also, if there's the possibility of a vaccine that could prevent the Thought-pocalypse, why are the Scoobies not pursuing that option? The Hollow Men left something to be desired on that front. Killing Boyd doesn't solve all our problems.

The Boyd reveal was one of my biggest problems with the ending.
I don't think I'll ever rewatch the show again because I know I'll just end up nitpicking every moment where it would seem impossible for him to be the owner and co-inventor of the Dollhouse.

In other news, thought I'd share my favorite tribute to BTVS on the net. Never gets old no matter how many times I watch it...

There's a channel on Youtube that has made nothing but fan made trailers of every season of Buffy and Angel, and they're all TERRIFIC. I spent over an hour yesterday watching them all.

Watch the Buffy Season 1 trailer below. Look how epic this person makes it seem.

And all the other trailers are just as good as that one. Definitely worth killing some time over if you're bored and a fan of these shows.

Those are tremendous. I discovered them early on in my progress through both shows and would watch the corresponding trailer after I'd complete a season. Minutes well spent.

The tag at the end of season three of Buffy might be my favourite.
