The Joss Whedon Spam thread: Buffy, Angel, The Avengers (2012 flm) and more

I think Wesley had more progression than any character I've ever seen from a television show, ever. To see where he started from on Buffy to how he ended up by the end of Angel... it was just remarkable character development.

He's easily my 2nd favorite character from the Buffyverse (Angel's #1, and Buffy is #3). I think he's severely underrated by fans of the series.

Oh, I agree JMT. I wasn't knocking the Wes character, but just merely noting Gunn's progression in a relatively smaller window.

As far as ranking my top three Fav Five: Fred/Illyria is my #1, Spike and Buffy are tied at 2, and Giles is my 3rd.

Where does Riley fall on that list?

Dewey knows of my opinion on him.

Riley is somewhere between "initial whiny Dawn" and "Kennedy". Does that answer the question?

LOL. I'd also like to mention an online reviewer by the name of Obscurus Lupa. She recently posted a video review of "Hamlet, the Vampire Slayer", and in it, she's shown eating ice cream, bemoaning the fact that Angel left Buffy, leading her to hook up with Riley on a long-term basis.

You know, I wanted so badly for Buffy to have some stability and some normalcy in her life that I forced myself to not hate Riley and root for their relationship since I thought she was much better off with a normal young man who could take care of himself rather than a fucking vampire or some other supernatural being.

Spike is in my top 5 favorite characters of the show, but man did I hate it when Buffy start hooking up with him. That was really when BTVS jumped the shark for me.

Riley wouldn't have been so bad, if he had any charisma (Carpenter). I just found him kind of.....bland, y'know?

Also, he must be hated for cheating on Buffy.

Buffy needed someone bland, though. It was good for her. In hindsight I agree with you though; however, that's more of the actor's fault than it is the character. I'm sure if they got, I don't know, Ryan Gosling or Leonardo DiCaprio to play him then he would have been much more likeable, lol.

And this isn't Whedon related, but have you watched the show Supernatural, Dewey? I was thinking about checking it out and was wondering if you'd give it a thumbs up or not.

I can agree with that, he was an interesting concept but the guy they got to play him seemed like he'd be boring regardless

I've seen a few episodes. It's good, but not really my taste. I mean, I can't get past thinking of the one brother (the blonde one) as anything more than Dean on the Gilmore Girls.

"Slavery has just ended, and reconstruction has just begun."

"Recon... struction?"

"...Gunn, you want to field this?"

Haa.

So I watched Doyle's last episode, man thats depressing especially after finding out what happened to Glenn Quinn.

Wonder what would have happened if he had been brought back??

Also, and I know this is old news, but I'm not sure if y'all already knew this. Andy Hallet (The guy who portrayed Lorne/The Host) is tragically no longer a member of this world. Some kind of pneumonia related death, I think.

Holy fuck this looks awesome!

a little background on the movie

Amy Acker and Fran Kranz both had roles on Joss Whedon's latest television series Dollhouse. Tom Lenk had a recurring role on Whedon's Buffy the Vampire Slayer, as well as appearing on the spin-off series, Angel, in which Acker also had a regular role.

The project began filming in March 2009 and completed on May 29, 2009 shooting in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Joss Whedon co-wrote the script with Cloverfield screenwriter Drew Goddard, who also directed the film, marking his directorial debut. Goddard previously worked with Whedon on both Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel as a writer.

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy on November 3, 2010, but the movie will still be released as one of MGM's last pre-Spyglass films in development; the film will be released in April 2012.

It was slated for wide release on February 5, 2010 and then delayed until January 14, 2011 so the film could be converted to 3D. However, on June 17, 2010, MGM announced that the film would be delayed indefinitely due to ongoing financial difficulties at the studio. On March 16, 2011, the Los Angeles Times reported the following: "New (MGM) chief executives Gary Barber and Roger Birnbaum are seeking to sell both (a) Red Dawn (remake) and the horror film The Cabin in the Woods, the last two pictures produced under a previous regime, as they try to reshape the 87-year-old company." A distribution sale to Lions Gate Entertainment Corporation was announced on April 28, 2011, with some industry news outlets reporting plans for a Halloween 2011 release. On July 20, 2011, Lionsgate announced that they had acquired the distribution rights to the film and set a release date of April 13, 2012.

This is looking like it's shaping up to be a big summer for Joss

You should give it a shot, the first few episodes might not be your taste, but if they are you'll love the whole thing.

One of the most random things from the episode (She) but it's hilarious

That awkward moment you remember you had a crush on Dawn when you were younger

I'll have to agree with Charlie. Dawn was just annoying. Still, not as bad as Kennedy, but close.

However, if Michelle were to happen to read this, if she's got two minutes I've got two inches....
