So, do you think John Cena has EVER taken steroids at any point in his life in order to achieve the physical size that he currently has? Cena vehemently denies he ever has. I've read and heard many reports of him denying steroid use, such as during his appearance on the Howard Stern show. The HSS staff didn't believe him.

Personally, I think he most likely did take them at one time or another in order to get as big as he is. Just my opinion. So I'm going to vote in the affirmative.

What do you think? Vote.

He says he hasn't. He's been tested his whole life, and has never failed one. There's no reason not to believe him.

If he really never has taken steroids, then his genetic ability to gain muscle mass and shape is borderline godly. I'm skeptical.

I would say he probably did when building himself up simply due to the sheer unnatural size and definition. Yet since signing for WWE I wouldn't imagine hes taken any and has gotten by on hard work. He doesn't really have the typical nasty veiny type look that a lot of the steroid junkies like Batista seem to sport.

Since I couldn't care less whether he has or hasn't, I'll just go ahead and take Cena's word as fact until it's proven otherwise.

I take the man at his word, he says he hasn't and I believe him. John Cena began working out long before he joined the WWE, at one point he was in several body building competitons and there steroid testing is even stricter than the WWE's. So no I don't think Cena has ever taken steroids, like someone said he doesn't have the nasty veiny look of guys like Batista or Ultimate Warrior that clearly were on the roids.

Also he has a degree in exercise physiology. He knows how to build up his body and the exercises that will do it.

While I accept your guys' view in that you don't think he ever has based on his word, I don't quite understand the point of him not/never having a "veiny" look.

I'm not trying to knock him for it though, he still has my respect. Plenty of guys have used, I don't see much of a problem with it. Sure, there are health problems, but if that person chooses to accept those potential health risks, then I don't have a problem with it, especially in wrestling. It's not like steroid-use is giving them an unfair advantage as using does in other pro sports like baseball. Pro wrestling is based on smoke and mirrors, anyway.

Cena is a workout freak. Until someone can come with something more definitive than "well, he looks like a guy who might take steroids", I am inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt.

This is Chuck Sipes. He was Mr. America in 1958, obviously before the steroid era. If he could look like that without steroids, John Cena could. If you know how to do it, you don't need shortcuts like steroids. Cena LOVES to work out. It's not a chore, it's not something he does just to stay in wrestling shape, it's FUN for him. If he wasn't a wrestler, and was an accountant, he would still work out. I have no problems believing he is clean.

Cena's physique is perfectly attainable with a great diet and being driven in the gym. Granted the majority of that is genetics as he was skinny as hell back in the day and anyone with any knowledge of working out knows it's much easier for skinnier guys to gain muscle. His physique isn't even all that impressive when compared to a lot of other guys i've seen. I'm assuming people who say he is on the juice or has been have a little envy for his body type or are just one of those blind Cena haters.

It's hard to say one way or the other. Anytime somebody has a body like that there's going to be questions.

If he hasn't, cool. Props to him for being able to get that physique on the up and up.

If he has, I don't particularly care. It's not my body.

I've always read the opposite. Any information on that?

Yeah I'm pretty sure it's easier for guys who are heavier to transfer that into muscle, hence why bodybuilders and such have such a large protein/high-carb diet. I didn't realise Cena had a degree in exercise physiology though so he would obviously know what he was doing.

For the love of God...

Do any of you actually know how steroids work? Do you know how when you stop taking them, your muscle mass decreases incredibly? It's not like inflating a balloon.

Now. If Cena had taken previously (you know...to get his baseline bulk), then why hasn't he shrunk like the Hulkster did?

Yes, they act in the nucleus of cells to increase DNA transcription.

And for the record, I don't think Cena's on steroids. If he was using PEDs he'd be a smart boy and use HGH, which isn't detectable in urine.

Welcome to the thread.

Actually HGH, from my understanding, is not as effective in stimulating muscle mass in humans. It is great for recovery, injury prevention, and decreasing of body fat. Studies surrounding its capacity to directly influence muscle mass by its own physiological components remain inconclusive.

This has far more to do with age, body fat, skin pigmentation, and one's capacity to retain water. Cena is not nearly as old as Batista was, so his veins have had less time to grow along with his muscles. Cena has a naturally very light skin tone, which does not allow veins to stand out like tanner folk. The picture that was posted of a "veiny" Cena shows him with a very good spray tan. Furthermore, it seems clear to me that Cena holds on to a little more body fat and water than Batista did. Cena holds on to a six-pack of abs, but there is some body fat in there. And he is not nearly as dry and hard as Batista and/or Warrior ever were.
